No. The Astronauts DID NOT Have Memories Wiped . . . .

In the past, RCH and a few others have claimed that the astronauts have had their memories wiped, which is why it's been alleged that some of them can "barely remember being there on the Moon." This, RCH and others assert, is proof that NASA or another agency wiped the astronauts memories, so they would not remember seeing supposed alien artifacts on the Moon.

Let me respond to some things first. NASA, in the last few years, has admitted in failing to monitor the astronauts' mental health after coming back to Earth.

In Buzz Aldrin's earlier book, Magnificent Desolation: The Long Journey Home From the Moon,”, he talks about drinking heavily during the Apollo 11 three-week-long quarantine period. His depression and even subsequent alcohol problems had devastating effects on his personal life. His marriage broke up. His mother had problems dealing with her son's depression and even died by suicide herself. His book was later made into a 1976 TV movie starring the late actor Cliff Robertson, called Return to Earth.

I'm a reporter. Years ago, while working for a NorCal newspaper, I wrote about a number of suicide clusters in our area. At that same time, the California Highway Patrol also had a large cluster of suicides among their officers. I had the opportunity of interviewing high-ranking officers in the CHP and talk to them about this, and the peer-to-peer support program they had put in place to deal with the suicide problem.

And talking with the CHP and a number of doctors and mental health officials, I learned that depression, when left untreated initially, will cause brain damage. Physical damage to the brain. Even in some cases brain shrinkage. Until people are treated with medications, that damage will continue to affect the brain and even cause problems with emotional control and even memory. Some doctors have studied the brains of deceased veterans, those diagnosed with depression and other emotional trauma, and found severe brain damage. Similar forms a brain damage has been found in those with substance abuse problems. In either case, with proper treat and time, the brain will will heal itself; however, it takes time . . . month or even a year or more.

Depression. Why depression? Imagine going to the Moon and experiencing the greatest adventure ever -- only to come back to Earth and its reality of a mundane life. How can you ever replicate something like that planetside? In fact, the Soviets thought of this before Gagarin went into space. They felt that their cosmonauts might experience some emotional trauma after returning from space.

And, i know firsthand how depression can affect memory.

In April 2013, I had a very minor heart attack and was also diagnosed with congestive heart failure and I was in atrial fibrillation. However, before I left the hospital, a number of doctors and nurses talk to me about heart attack and CHF patients dealing with depression.

I didn't think it would it hit me but it did. And, yes, I had "brain fog" too. It was a struggle then and I still deal with it. So, I know from experience how this happens. And, judging from what Aldrin has said -- along with some of the other astronauts -- memory problems fall in line with the depression. Nothing sinister.

I'm also a paranormal investigator. Along with being a reporter, it has taught me that not everything requires a fantastic explanation. Sometimes, what some people feel is paranormal or supernatural is actually quite normal or natural. As a paranormal investigator, that's part of what I do -- help people understand the difference.

Recent articles have addressed the terrible physical effect depression has on the brain and NASA's failure to provide a proper emotional safety net for their astronauts.

No. Those memory lapses were not caused by mindwipe. They were caused by depression and other emotional issues. The science is there to support it.

No. This didn't happen.
