Hurry and order the CCrane Skyway before it maybe too late!

Someone in the YouTube comments claims that video is a launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base.  Can anyone here confirm or deny that?

Twa went bust soon afterwards... Throw that in the mix of conspiracy

Other than the fact subs don't carry SAMs.  I will ask again, if we assume the video does show a missile, where was the launch point for that missile?

I remember there was a large Navy exercise going on at the Eastern end of Long Island.  The TWA-800 shoot down occurred alongside of Hampton Bays, long Island.  The talk about the Navy presence was immediate as I recall.  It was not just a sub, there were Navy ships in the area.

They do now!

My buddy at EB told me about work in Europe on those systems, but they are not operational (or at least two yrs ago first time I heard Sanders spin this tale.)  No question they were not in use 20 yrs ago.

WildCard

I'm 10 pages behind. Who was the reporter that covered it and kept reporting it was a missile?
He wrote a column about mob stuff.

IMHO there is no quieter sub in the world than the old Russian Kilo. They could shoot that bird and easily disappear.

Launchable underwater??  I don't think so, at least not 20 yrs ago.
Launchable from trained search and destroy dolphins.  Just look at SciFiAuthor's avi.

That was a rough one, St. Louis hasn't had decent air service since.

Saw a few of those growing up.  Very comparable.  Certainly zero evidence in the video of an airstrike.

IMHO there is no quieter sub in the world than the old Russian Kilo. They could shoot that bird and easily disappear. If they were so inclined. But, again....just so unlikely.

Did I miss something? There doesn't seem to be any new information here...it was shot down and it was covered up and it was 20 years ago. So....now what?

It could have been, at the time, a classified system, perhaps another reason the Navy didn't want to cop to their screw-up?

AppealPlay

Phil Hendrie as General John Jameson for the fourth hour.

Four hours would be difficult to do for a number of reasons.  RCH would have to be pushed back an hour unless Art started at 11pm not to mention the terrestrial stations carrying him would have to change their schedules.

Imagining this scenario, would we keep the knowledge on the downlow to not have to thriw down with the Putin and the sleeping dragon?

It's impossible. Period.

I was in the Navy. I also worked in the Combat Information Center.  If they were in the middle of exercises as I believe they were, then everyone onboard ship would be at General Quarters. NO ONE would be on the deck of the ships. NO ONE.  All doors would be absolutely closed. Only very few people would ever have known anything about a missile launch, and far fewer would know it hit a plane.  The only exception to this might be an aircraft carrier. Every other ship I have been on is locked down with no one on deck in those situations.

Gassy Man

Good job to the jackass who manages to back Art into a corner about not having a fourth hour of programming and then talk over him and change the subject when Art starts to answer.

Except that Sanders claimed the missile was underwater launched in the case of TWA 800.

I do smell a need-to-not-know whiff in the air.
