Nearly 25% of members hidden?

Seriously... why be a "user" if you feel you a need to hide?

(0 Buddies = My own personal shame  :-[ )

I can see some reasons, for example Dave, Tommy, Linda, paralegals, and so forth.....then probably the usual alphabet agencies or paid sock puppets biding their time.

This isn't 4chan... BellGab requires registration (and affiliation) to post. Why "lurk moar" after you announce said affiliation?

(I lurked for nearly two years before I became brave... just curious)

Well, since you ask, used to be, back in the day, the forum could not only inform when a user was "on", but also what thread they were looking at. It was a very good tool for trolls to focus their attention on the poster of their choice.

Ok, ok, ok, that particular feature has been tucked away for quite a while.

I stay hidden because... I see no reason not to stay hidden. My posts do not evaporate, anyone can respond at any time they choose. Whether I am hidden or not.

So, why hide?

First Half: Author, lecturer, and vampire Michelle Belanger will discuss her work challenging the erroneous conclusions of law enforcement that various homicides have been the acts of witchcraft (such as this recent case in Florida). She'll also update her endeavors with hauntings, and her research into the realm of spirits, astral entities, and dark forces.

2nd Half: Radical academic Jeffrey Grupp updates his research on "dark ecstasy" -- the feeling of intense pleasure that some people get from negative and gruesome events, and how secret societies are exploiting this mental state to control the masses.

I think Jorchie boy himself is the subject matter expert on dark ecstasy. A few gruesome stories involving kids and he will be all giddy for the rest of the interview.

The only members I can think of that have a good reason to hide would be Dave and Flakie since they're both .. well .. you know. Otherwise - not everybody knows who you REALLY are -- well except MV, Art and Redacted but they don't have any reason to hide. Well except maybe Redacted - so she doesn't keep getting requests for naked pix - guess that could get old after awhile.  :P

Checked out Michelles webpage.  I think they goofed and posted a picture of her brother on the main page.

Oops, that post was meant for the GNS thread. I'll repost it there.

25% of Bellgabbers are hiding because MV sends naughty pics to 20% of them when they are online. The other 5% is falkies fat, digital ass.

Nearly 25% of members hidden, but over 75% of them are not hidden.

Is the cup half-empty or half-full?

What is the benefit of seeing if someone is online at the same time someone else is online? Will someone's post have less effect if they are not present?

There is the theory that a virtual presence could possibly drag down the intellectual potential of the board.

We're still studying this so-called "GNoory effect."
