Disqualified, no sense of humour.
Dexter Monterrey says there is no problem with the NSA anymore in the 22nd century since we are all a part of an inter-galactic NWO control-grid, police-state universe and Dexter Monterrey is the only radio show available. :(

I started this way.

GravitySucks

I don't want ANYONE messing with my déjà vu moments, especially someone from Toronto.  My guess is that within 500 years all tasty Canadiens will have been offered up to the ETs.

The part that really screams BS for me is the 7 billion off planet.  You can't get those numbers in 400-500 years, especially knowing that we won't be starting in the foreseeable future.  It took us over 200 years to go from 1b to 7b.  But we started with 1b in situ.  Can you imagine the size and number of ships it would take to transfer 1m "colonists" to another planet?  And how long it would take to create infrastructure for 1m???  Even with increased lifespan, you can't get to 7b off planet, not using the math that I am familiar with.

I do believe the part about "The only thing I don't do is engage in romantic relationships..."

If they had to fix "minor ripples" there would be no need to risk a permanent presence in the past because the risk of creating further "ripples" would be too great.

Well, time travel is bullshit, so there's that

BS. Dexter Monterrey and some dentist has said different.

Fake as fuck. Not even cool fake, but lame fake.

It might end up being good radio ratings wise if he somehow get this guy on.
My gut feeling says that that is exactly what this guy is angling for - to be interviewed by Art. Of course the story is BS, and not very imaginative BS at that. I doubt he would be very interesting to hear.

A HUGE red flag that this is fake is to look at the language. It sounds like someone from our era wrote it. Read something written even 150-200 years ago. The grammar, language etc... is different.

I was thinking the same thing. It should be wildly different in language and structure.
Written in Yoda's tongue Dave should have.

The "door" has a spacetime coordinate lock.
How do you "lock" onto something that is not an object?

He did address that part by saying he had to take courses on local customs and dialects, because otherwise we would scarcely be able to understand each other if at all.

The thing that I find most revealing (apart from his exclamation that Hoagland was correct) is that life in the 25th century sounds very much like the life anyone could have in 2015.  They interact online, shop online or in small shops, use digital currency, use car sharing programs and mass transit (both of which are alive and well in Toronto), etc. etc.  The only tech which sounded futuristic was space exploration, which was "a lot like Star Trek" but he didn't elaborate.  He did mention faster than light travel which I think is a physical impossibility, but maybe that's my own limitation.

Let's look at the last 500 years.  We've had a lot of paradigm shifts which no one really expected: the industrial revolution which drove people into cities and changed the way they did commerce, governance, and lived their lives; the railway which opened up continents to massive industrial, population, and commercial development; the assembly line which allowed for mass distribution of consumer goods and a further shift away from spartan, labour intensive, agrarian lifestyles; and the internet and smartphone which has completely changed how we live.  I don't remember anyone predicting the internet or the massive impact it would have on us back before the 90s.  Where are all the unexpected paradigm shifts between now and the 25th century?  There don't seem to be any.

Every door has a spacetime beacon. You can not only lock onto the door's coordinates in physical space, but also it's time, specified in temporal Planck units. amiright?

If it wasn't in Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Gallactica, or Buck Rogers it doesn't count :D.

Echo

In my opinion the person is a charlatan. If a person claims to be a time traveler, they better be willing to give out some predictions. Some of the predictions could be simple stuff like "a fan at tomorrows Yankee's game will be wearing x jersey, the fan will attempt to catch a home run ball but fall onto the field. A few predictions like that and i would be convinced the person is the real deal.

MiTD hasn't been on the air for a month, already a time traveler reaches out to Art. How long until someone calls Art about a bottomless hole that restores dead animals life.

Good post!
It's worth pointing out, most of the shifts you speak of happened in the last decade or so. Industial, agricultural and  huge leaps in technology. It's changed everything about how we live today. Where is the unexpected paradigm shift, indeed!

This 'time traveler' is trying to tell us that the big shift in the transportation paradigm is communal car sharing? BS. It's not even a flying car! BS again! not very imaginative BS either.
I'll admit, I gave up reading his story after 1000 words, & skimmed the rest. so maybe this was addressed somewhere. It's a fun idea to fantasize about, but if I wanted to read fiction, I'd start reading the newst Stephen King book.

Perhaps Art should have him on to discuss whatever it was that compelled him to compose and submit that pile of dog shit

I don't know about that. The main difference would be in speech where slang can come in and out of fashion, but the written word tends to change a lot less, unless the future is an illiterate hell where everybody is communicating in text-speak (shudder). About 300  years ago people didn't even have a recognised way of spelling words and would often spell someone's name multiple ways, for instance. These days, we all grow up with a particular way of understanding the written word because it's there in front of us in various types of media, when centuries ago the only access to print might be poorly produced penny dreadfuls and chapbooks. I don't think the overall style of writing has changed a lot over 200 years, but the way people think has changed. Jane Austen sounds pretty contemporary to me, for example, although her world was totally alien to our own, and certain forms and courtesies are hard to decipher.

I don't believe a word of this time-travelling thing, but I don't think you can pinpoint the style as an obvious flaw.

Even more glaringly obvious.... He says there's ruins on Mars & the moon but for some reason they can't figure out who they were.  He's a TIME TRAVELER...go back & have a look lol.

It could be a subtle PR for Dave Norry.  He is going to have an "event" at the Queens Theatre in Toronto in a couple of weeks.  He has remarked on the air that there will be some "surprises."  I can envision one of those surprises being a visit through a "door" by a Time Traveler.  This e-mail to Art could begin a buzz of comments and curiosity around the town and get more attendees at Dave's event....Think what a backend trump this would be for Dave Norry.
I still think Dateline is on to something here.  Could it be "David" is ... Dave?  :P

^^^ ROFLMAO!!!  Noory is sooo trolling Mr. Bell!  Art how could you not see this? Never mind that the story is soo unbelievable absurd!!!

You know the guys at premiere are laughing their asses off!! Art needs to have his content thoroughly looked at before putting it out for public consumption. I'm still waiting for John Titor to contact Art.  Noory, if you're reading this, can you please  do a good John Titor impersonation??? Id love for John Titor to register and post here at bellgab.   roflmao!!!
