Is Periscope creepy?

I didn't watch, just listened, but discreet camera in radio studio can be...well, "creepy" might be the word as far as some are concerned.

WVOX routinely streams from a camera in their studio that's placed like a security camera.  People being interviewed in studio often don't even realize that video is going out, and DJs & emcees don't play to the camera.  The video keeps streaming during commercials, newsbreaks, & other times "the show" isn't on.  One friend who was interviewed by another friend of ours who had a program there didn't realize he was being shown when I told him I caught their candid moments; IIRC, it had audio too.

WFMU's been experimenting (or better than experimenting) a lot w video streaming.  When they arranged for a certain block of stream time that was partly taken up by a prerecorded program ("Prove It All Night" live audience show hosted by Pat Byrne) that didn't take up the entire time slot, they switched to a stream of Mr. Byrne DJing live the remainder of his show, and I got to see the mechanics multi-turntable radio DJing, talking w his partner on the studio mic (not going out on air or main program audio stream) in response to my comment-line written comments.

The effect shares some commonality w what people who had their own satellite receivers experienced tuning in to feeds of network TV programs, when they were unsecured because so few people were doing it.

It is a little strange when people get video of a program that's primarily an audio product.  Do the performers alter their performance for the minority of audience who get it, or do they pick their nose, etc. as if there were no video at all?

Looking at the back of Art's head isn't that entertaining without sound

I guess it's only creepy if the person you are looking at doesn't know he/she is being observed or if people are doing more than just watching.

I enjoyed being a fly on the wall to Art's broadcast and getting a glimpse behind the curtain. Nothing creepy about that unless you make it creepy.
