Should she only let some of the nay sayers get to her?
Can't someone just not like something?
I thought she sounded like a female Jason Alexander doing his Captain Kirk impersonation.
I thought Art sounded great.
I think Keith is in over his head.
I hope the show is on for years to come.

Where did I say that not liking something isn't allowed? ...and yes, some of the "nay sayers" comments should be taken into account...that's why I said "don't let all". Clear enough for you now?

I just listened to the show and she was fine. No one will ever be Art but she was...fine.

I just find it annoying that Art calls her Redacted. Makes the show sound amateur. Use a real name

Art did ask for details, but Redacted likes her privacy. Nothing wrong with that actually.

:D

I suppose she could be called Mary for those who want a real name. I like the mystery behind her persona though.

Using your bellgab screen name on Art's show is bush league. In my opinion.

I understand the whole privacy thing but any real name would do. Using your screen name in indeed "bush league"

I would be STOKED to use my real name in association with Mr. Bell. however, I also know that people will be pining for (R) real identity, which makes for more media hype...assuming Art goes forward with (R).

Her real name is (redacted). This doesn't seem very confusing to me at all. The old farts and Luddites will learn to embrace the new paradigm soon enough.

100% agreed with that!  Nothing personal to Redacted, but I'm not going to kiss her ass in one sentence and then say how I don't want her on the show in the next either.   She could have used a fake name, any name at all, but not some handle.  Handles are for kiddy shows like The Cat Box.  If you want to do a real radio show and have a real worldwide audience, people are going to want to know who you are.   Having Redacted hide behind a handle would have always kept Bell down.   I said my piece a long time ago regarding this subject, and no surprise, I was right - along with a number of the rest of you, and Falkie too.   I hate to say this, but I felt that Redacted sounded even worse than I imagined.   She talked down to everyone like we're all kindergartners.  And her audio quality blew.   I'm not saying I could do a better job, I know I couldn't, but it would be a big mistake for Art to do MITD with her moving forward.

I do agree with others though, it's Art's show and he can do what he wants.  However, I can listen to what I want too, and if Art continued the show with her I would not be a regular listener.

indigoo

I'd actually love to hear her on her own show, or maybe as a weekend host. I see no reason why that can't happen.

Redacted talked about pirates but she forgot how this site once streamed old Art Bell shows. Now that Art gives this place attention, they can't stand pirates. Talk about being hypocrites.

You know nothing.

You would think that people listening about witches, remote viewers, cryptozoology, possession, and other oddities would be able to tolerate a name that is different. Cause normal is what it is really about.

*** Aldous, you do a hokey pokey joke, Imma smack you.

Yes, I do agree with this FWIW....it might be mysterious, however no where reassuring, privacy aside. I guess it might have been somewhat smoother if Art would have given a bit of an intro about her, with whatever she was comfortable with.

All he did say was that "we are going to test a new young lady called redacted"

Then he went on to explain what redacted means. If I didn't know who she was, Art built her up like some kind of intelligence agent ...area 51 and perhaps beyond.

Perhaps that was the oversight. Set some expectations without explanation really high??

Then Art made a reference to BellGab and her identity and keeping it mysterious. etc. etc. etc.

Then Art says "you are going to remain mysterious and do some open lines with me"....

IMHO the intention perhaps was a good one, but the set up was wrong.

Not everyone knows about this site, not all listeners want to know or care...sorry.

I think a huge part of the negative reaction is/was, who the hell is this redacted and why is she on Art's show.

The setup for her debut on Art's test run show was wrong IMHO...

It's not just the name. It's her refusal to share anything personal about herself and her background. That's perfectly fine and her right. But, it's not a mystery why people aren't feeling her vibe. I wouldn't expect her to disclose everything, obviously... I know absolutely nothing about this woman. That's a problem. We know who Art is. Trust has been earned over the years.

I thought Redacted did an awesome job! Art and her had a good interaction. Can't wait for tonight's show!

My only criticism is that the whole thing with (Redacted) seemed rushed. She was probably nervous. When one is put on the spot in front of an audience it is easy to freeze a bit. Her response to turn it back to Bell was gracious if somewhat awkward.

Is it just creepy that that's a problem for you, or is that also a problem? So confused now, story problems have always given me the nightsweats.

I get that. Well... it appears that Art may not have given up on her per his Facebook post's. If she gets another shot, hopefully she'll be ready.

Could we not get all leg-humpy?  I know that's asking a lot from the white knights.

I believe it's reasonable to know something about the person behind the mic.

Maphoo

My .02 on this topic.

I guess I don't mind the sidekick thing if it's just a weekly thing for open lines, but for most nights with a guest, I would redact (redacted), or any other sidekick.

I thought she did good, and can add flavor to the show if Art becomes lost for commentary for the moment.  ALTHOUGH, personally, given the show's concept of interactivablity (IE.. we paid to use the wormhole, so he shouldnt need input from a sidekick)

I think instead of relying on a random Gabcast nobody, the fans can help give the show direction!!!
