Who Remembers The Movie "The Running Man?"

If you've never seen this 1987 movie, or you haven't seen it in a while, please watch it. The intro is a summary of future events and how they came to be. The future? 2017. Folks, this movie may be right on schedule.

Since Richard Dawson is gone, who would be the host? Of course. Snoory! He will be looking for a job soon, and this venue is right down his alley.

Oh yes, I've seen the movie and read the original book written by Stephen King in his early writings as Richard Bachman. Thanks for the reminder, I think I'll pick up a kindle copy and read it again. I didn't realize it was set in 2017 .... wow, the future is now .... (I think I also need to also re-watch the movie)

Yeah, definitely read the book. It is actually a book of four stories so it's not that long. It's a lot better than the movie. While your at it read 'The Body' which is where 'Stand By Me' came from. A great read and a great movie. Also I think 'The Long Walk' is in there too, also a good read. 'The Mangler' eh..it's ok.

OH yeah, I remember roadwork. That was about the guy who was in a 'Rage' about his house being bought under the imminent domain law. It was called 'Rage'. The Mangler was about the laundry machinery that ate people or something like that.

PS. I haven't seen Roadwork yet but now I will. Oh nevermind I guess that is a book cover. Yeah I think it was called Rage in the book with four stories by Bachman aka Steven King

Rage was about a school shooting and hostage stand-off, which suddenly explains to me why there's a re-released edition without this novella included.

I guess I don't remember reading Rage. It isn't The Mangler. I think laundromats still call that machine The Mangler though, it wasn't King's idea.

"The Long Walk" is a great story. I don't know how it could be turned into a good movie, which pretty much sums up all of King's work.

One of the only movies that did justice to the book was Misery...The Shining wasn't bad either, nor was The Body which was made into Stand By Me

I'd like to see Insomnia made into a film. I think it would translate to film better than some of his other works.

I have a hard time finishing anything he's done lately but for different reasons. He starts out great and I mean great but then it all falls apart. I still have two books by him that I have to finish. One is Cell and the other is 11/22/63.

Good movie about such (but not written by SK, who killed John Lennon as we all know

) but called "Insomnia" but written by Erik SkjoldbjÃ¦rg and Nikolaj Frobenius. (Later, of course, remade by Hollywood with Al Pacino and called by same name. Sucked in comparison, but maybe if you didn't see the original? I don't know.)
