I didn't listen to the gabcast. And as much as I like every host on that show, I am not willing to be part of a Jerry Springer event. It would be different had Heather caused me harm. Same with Art. Could things have been handled better? yeah, sure, welcome to the world.

I like Bateman, I like Heather. This just sucks, no matter what started it.

Art's ego... that's what started it. Bateman and Heather are just collateral damage.

I would have never thought of nbirnes as posting the dirtiest picture today; I believe she's in the running! PBS is right, those old experienced chicks are better!  :P

I bring a magical dessert to the 'haven because I've been on a long journey of discovery and have, in fact, discovered many beautiful things. To whit:

I love you guys in a warm, gooey way.
OMG!  YUM!!! In a non sexual way of course.   ;)

Wiring an Internet connection in a cave may be a little difficult, brig.  ;D

In all seriousness, I understand what you all are saying. I always seem to be struggling because life is too gray (in more ways than one, being from the northeast!). I sometimes envy those that see the world in black and white (not really). Each debate can be so nuanced...to a point where I can’t reach any conclusions except “it’s complicated.”

I agree with SV’s point that “there's a line to draw between abuse and simply pointing out her shortcomings.” Done respectfully, it can be a great vehicle for growth. The key is doing it respectfully. Not sure an anonymous forum is a great platform for this kind of dialogue, but BellGab seems to be more than a random group of people...there are years of sharing thoughts and ideas here. Maybe more of a family? Dysfunctional at times, but there does seem to be a shared history.

I enjoy BellGab when people post thoughtful comments...and I love the funny one-liners, too. So many clever people! The really ugly posts...not so much.

BC I agree completely.  I often find I can't take sides, or arrive at a definitive opinion because I don't feel like I possess enough facts, and I believe that most issues have many nuances to them.   I also think that life is hard, and we all make mistakes even at the best of times. Stress does funny things to people.  I really enjoy reading everyone's point of view here.  I think in the end we all respect each other, even if we disagree.  I hope so.

I started this post several times and shared with a few privately last night. I am all done participating in anything that could push someone over the edge. I'm not leaving the forum, I am simply done being part of the problem. I apologized to Heather. I am sure I will get backlash from the board as I was very critical of her. But after what I consider a spiritual dream I did what I felt was right. It's so easy to forget that someone is behind that avatar. I didn't like what I was becoming or how I was acting so I took an opportunity for growth.

That's cool. No backlash from me. Glad to hear it. I don't think Heather's in any danger of going "over the edge" any time soon, but I agree in general that pushing folks over edges is a bad thing, and is often as toxic for the pusher as it is for the pushee.

It's been a while since I've poked my head in the Bella-Haven thread. Glad I did. Good to see some thoughtful conversation regarding recent events. I tend to come to the board every few days hoping to find some friendly, familiar faces. Guess I haven't been looking in the right place until now.

I don't really understand all the anger surrounding Art and Heather. I was bummed about Art quitting the show, and still am, but it didn't really affect my personal life. I still paint, promote shows, and hang out with my friends. And even though it's sad that Art's off the air, I think it's pretty cool that my friend is hosting his show. Why wouldn't I want to listen to that? It's a show about things I'm interested in, and somebody I know and like is hosting it. There's nothing about this situation that could possibly piss me off.

Maybe because I'm not a "Time Traveler", but hey, I'm a working artist. Things that cost money are scary to guys like me (guys who make paintings in uninsulated shacks and find 90% of their wardrobe in dumpsters). If I were a Time Traveler, maybe I'd let myself be about five bucks a month worth of angry, but I'm not sure how much anger that is, really. Enough to say "fuck" a bunch of times?

I'd probably just cancel my subscription if it were to come to that. But I don't really see how it could. I listen to the show, and I'm not hearing the terrible things that you guys all are. All I really am is kind of proud of her. She's doing a thing that I can't do. That's awesome.

I guess that makes me a (___random thing to call guys like me who say things like this___), but whatever.

Im repling here, to your long post.

Me thinks, you are an independent thinker., Sir you have my respect.
At times the group-think on Bellgab, is quite amusing. This recent  episode was mostly despicable and disgusting.

Some pride themselves as being vicious and vaughly lovable, when in fact, they are follow the leader cheep ass opportunist. Let's see, who can be the most outrages goon, in the pack of feeding frenzy carnivors. Look here, cut the girl and the old man deep.. Blood red teeth, tore off  some flesh, right down to the bone.
Tis nothing, cut out her heart out. Watch this, got his soul this time.

Being a huge Art fan, I too was a bit upset that he quit, about as upset, as if I got a speeding ticket. Suck it up, life goes on.
Was happy that Heather stepped up to keep the show going and with hopes that Art may be back from time to time.
Didn't expect her to have the broadcast skills of Mr Bell.
Big deal, she did OK, I was impressed with her dedication and expected her to improve and she did.

To tear her down, knowing that she had to deal with all the uncertainity and quirkiness of Art and Keith, was unconscionable. Don't care about her motives, her lack of broadcast experience. If didn't like her show, wouldn't listen and move on. The 'fiver' a month is nothing, I'll let it run, to help Keith and her and to keep the network going.

Peace all..

Love Art.. Adore Heather.. Bateman is OK..

I just stopped by to see if this was still a happy thread. Sad to see recent events. Who could have guessed that things would have turned out this way. An almost complete 180 degrees from the spring of last year.

Thanks for keeping the door open and please accept my offering of bacon roses.  :)

Coffee! I forgot the coffee *headslap* Thank you Gabrielle!
Not wanting to steal GS's thunder I will only post this "preview"

A stellar eclipse will be visible from almost all of the United States tonight (Jan. 19), when a bright waxing gibbous moon passes in front of the star that marks the angry orange eye of Taurus, the bull.

GS can expand further. He's much better at this than I

(On further reading I see that I am a day late as usual lol)

And thank you for your post and the beautiful Roses (bacon yay   ;D  )

I appreciate all the Bella-Haven peeps who are keeping the positive around -- I know we all try ... sometimes, it's a bit difficult but hey Mercury will be going direct on the 25th (lol needed to throw that out there for all the anti-woo woo folks!)

Seriously, what step of the grieving process are we now now?  Well, we can sing along with this oldie and continue with the processing   8)

A waxing moon means the moon is getting "more full". Taurus is not really a bull, it is a constellation of stars  Before their was TV, some old guy drank a bunch of wine and thought that these particular stars kind of looked like a bull.  Henry Ford must have liked that constellation. He named a rather successful model of cars after it... The Taurus.

If it is not cloudy tonight, you will see a pretty bright one pass in front of one of the stars in the constellation of Taurus, so for awhile, the bull will not have an eye. Well the bull will still have an eye, but you won't be able to see it for awhile.

Shortly after that, the sun will break its own record for most consecutive sunrises in the east.

Our sun is a star, so a solar eclipse is really a stellar eclipse.

The moon passes between the earth a million billion stars every night. Not sure why this one is special, other than the eye of Taurus is kind of bright.

I am sure Sandman could have done better.

If you go outside tonight and have a clear sky, look up at the moon. Imagine being one of the Apollo astronauts standing there looking back at us. Smile. Then look at all of the stars and try to count them all. Bet you can't do it.

we may need a little more music.... :) :) :) :)
Gabrielle, I hope you don't mind -- I'm sharing your quote and thought  ... More Music!
Our generation sure did have some excellent talent -- We play White Bird quite a bit from It's a Beautiful Day -- but their whole album was fantastic -- remember TIME IS

"Time is too slow for those who wait
And time is too swift for those who fear
Time is too long for those who grieve
And time is too short for those that laugh

And love is too slow for those who wait
And love is too swift for those who fear
Love is too long for those who grieve
And love is too short for those that laugh

But for those who love
But for those who really love
But for those who love
Time
Sweet time
Precious time
Lovely time
All the time
Time, time, time, time
is eternity .... "

"Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds -
and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of -
wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence.
Hovering there I've chased the shouting wind along
and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

"Up, up the long delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,
where never lark, or even eagle, flew;
and, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
the high untrespassed sanctity of space,
put out my hand and touched the face of God."
