I think the live chat for Bella-Haven that was on its website before was useful for that.  Nancy could go on there during the show and look for questions from people in the chat.  Those chats were fun, busy places.  Nancy just got a bad feeling about it after a couple of trolls came in and started saying not-nice stuff.  If an Admin had tossed them out of the chat after their first few not-nice comments, they never would have gotten a head of steam going.  The trouble with having a chat on a Bellgab thread is that I don't believe it is possible to toss out people who come in and say not-nice things.  However, the live chats that have been going down on Bellgab during Art's show seem to be proceeding just fine.  Haven't seen any trolls in those:  just regular Bellgabbers for the most part.

Maybe trolls only like to show up in places where they get talked about alot.  Honestly? Trolls don't bother me, in fact, I enjoy the process of making friends with them. Sometimes they end up being your most loyal listeners and contributors.

Depends on if they are malicious or not.  Whoring and Pooper were only in there to stir up trouble and upset people, and it seems they did.  Too bad.  Trolls like that should be ignored (or deleted) so as not to give them any power whatsoever.

No worries Ms. C. I think we knew the picture you mean lol's  You have to download them , and then browse to them and re-attach them to your post sometimes, when that happens.

Hey guys. I think the chat, while is fun when not abused, is closed for the main reason that there is no full time op. Nancy cant do it while shes running a show and folks like wr250, mv (praise be his alias) and myself among others cant always be there. Chat did go sour a couple times. But, thats another good reason for this thread.

Hope your all enjoying the Wreckathon. Lol love ya all

3.  Reaction to War of the Worlds

Extent[edit]
Historical research suggests the panic was far less widespread than newspapers had indicated at the time. "[T]he panic and mass hysteria so readily associated with 'The War of the Worlds' did not occur on anything approaching a nationwide dimension", American University media historian W. Joseph Campbell wrote in 2003. He quotes Robert E. Bartholomew, an authority on mass panic outbreaks, as having said that "there is a growing consensus among sociologists that the extent of the panic … was greatly exaggerated".[22]
This position is supported by contemporary accounts. "In the first place, most people didn't hear [the show]", said Frank Stanton, later president of CBS.[3]
Five thousand households were telephoned that night in a survey conducted by the C. E. Hooper company, the main radio ratings service at the time. Only two percent of the respondents said they were listening to the radio play, and no one stated they were listening to a news broadcast. Ninety eight percent of respondents said they were listening to other radio programming â€" The Chase and Sanborn Hour was long the most popular program in that timeslot â€" or not listening to the radio at all. Further shrinking the potential audience, some CBS network affiliates, including some in large markets like Boston's WEEI, had pre-empted The Mercury Theatre on the Air in favor of local commercial programming.[3]
Ben Gross, radio editor for the New York Daily News, wrote in his 1954 memoir that the streets were nearly deserted as he made his way to the studio for the end of the program.[3] Producer John Houseman reported that the Mercury Theatre staff was surprised when they were finally released from the CBS studios to find life going on as usual in the streets of New York.[2]:404 The writer of a letter the Washington Postpublished later likewise recalled no panicked mobs in the capital's downtown streets at the time. "The supposed panic was so tiny as to be practically immeasurable on the night of the broadcast", media historians Jefferson Pooley and Michael Socolow wrote in Slate on its 75th anniversary in 2013; "Almost nobody was fooled".[3]
According to Campbell, the most common response said to indicate a panic was calling the local newspaper or police to confirm the story or seek additional information. This, he writes, is an indicator that people were not generally panicking or hysterical. "The call volume perhaps is best understood as an altogether rational response ..."[22] Some New Jersey media and law enforcement agencies received up to 40 percent more telephone calls than normal during the broadcast.[29]

Basis of Into Great Silence:  11 The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

All so wonderful this morning. Great stuff Lou. Morning brig and Ms. C. I have a couple but can't seem to post them. Never could lol.  I have a couple of Gregorian Chant albums and love the solemn music. But I have one in particular that I listen to a lot during the Christmas/Jewish holidays. Veni, Veni by Mannheim Steamroller. If I can ever figure out how to post them I will. Lou I found a website for Jeff Waynes War of The Worlds I'll post when I get back with my coffee and Sausage.

Thanks very much for posting this ... I thoroughly enjoyed it! IMHO, it really does link a musical definition of planetary vibrations.    I'm been working at NOT becoming gun-shy with mentioning anything to do with (gasp) Astrology  .. due to the humongous amount of distaste and criticism around the forum on this subject.  Again, a beautiful musical video, I so appreciate.
