The Other Side of Midnight - Richard C. Hoagland - Live Chat Thread

Funniest line of the night from Hoagies last show on DMDN, "I don't like to talk about myself".

I out and out split a gut chuckling at that one. How many times has Hoagy mentioned himself and Walter, or Carl or whomever?

was tonight's show the last one on dork matter net?
Yep last night was Hoagie's final episode on DMDN.
Next week he starts on the KCAA radio station and streams (available on TuneIn and direct mp3 streams) at the same time 12am-2am PT.
Meanwhile next week starting Monday night, Heather's show expands to 5 hours taking over Hoagie's old time slot...

Fuck. So mad I missed the last one on Dark Matter. Glad to see the new one will be on at a reasonable time. Hope those poor bastards know what they are in for.

Apparently MITD is also broadcasted on that network. My brief looking at the site I don't see any mention of RCH (currently shows some retrospective about Wolfman Jack 12am.)

The station appears to be owned by a former Air America radio guy and HP blogger?

I wonder what KCAA will do:  cut their broadcast of MITD down to only 3 hours to fit in Hoagie's show?

Also is OSOM going to be Tuesday-Saturday now instead of Monday-Friday?

I believe it is the same days as before. But since it starts at midnight, it is really Tuesday through Saturday mornings.

Hank

I'm disappointed. I was looking forward to finding out that Hogland was moving to the LNM net-twerk.

Who has a bigger audience and fan base, RCH or HW?

No way that would ever happen.  Michael Vara has it in for Hoagland.

What did you mean "new one will be on at a reasonable time" ? It's the same time -yawn- as it always was 12-2AM Pacific is still 3AM-5AM Eastern !

He said he would take it with him.
The shows new site has a "the" at the start-so it is theothersideofmidnight instead of the othersideofmidnight of the DMDN era.

I don't know how hoagie came up with that idea because with the Google page ranking algorithm people are going to be lost as all hell.
Here is the new one:
http://www.theothersideofmidnight.com/
I might be misremembering but I thought I recalled RCH saying at the beginning of his new show after getting fired/quitting from C2C that the domain for "theotherside...." was already taken so he had to use just "otherside...." Maybe preparing from the beginning for some jump? The domain expired later and he could get? Or he bought the domain from someone once Keith wouldn't let him keep the other?

Please. . .what is the latest on Richard Hoagland's radio show in 19.5 sentences are less?

That's the way it sounded to me. I don't think it would have expired though. It has only been 9 months since the show started and only about 10 since it was announced he would have a show.

i think Keith did it so people wouldn't confuse it for the book or the movie, since dumb ass hoagie named the show after things that already exist.

I remember that!  I don't know what was there before, but it looks like that site's been around since May of last year.  I'd be amazed if he actually sunk money into buying it.

Well, we all know Hoagie desperately needs #1. That alone should result in a drastic reduction of braapps. The rest sounds good too. Real phone lines! Good for him.

i will admit..i am not sure how it works..but how much will an engineer help if ..he is still doing the show from his home?

and if he still is using a crappy computer..audio and video skype wont make things suck less lol

rebroadcasting is gonna hurt sub numbers

It seems he'll be doing it on-site at a professional broadcast facility with an actual engineer on-site to catch most of his braaps. I want to tune in just to see how things go for him with that kind of infrastructure behind him.
