The Other Side of Midnight - Richard C. Hoagland - Live Chat Thread

I noticed that we have a whole lot of people inquiring as to what "Braaps" means and it's significance.   I've seen many many replies aside from the one's I give.  Should we have a template?....I say jokingly.  Not just a general description but almost like a Wikipedia description.  I'm just gonna cut and paste my most recent reply.  I think it's accurate.

"Braaps" is a term related to Richard C. Hoagland's show.  It was the fart sound his chair made over the first set of shows.  Sounded to me like a vinyl bean bag chair.  The term now is an identifier for all the little odd sounds you hear in the show, or any mishappenings.  It has mainly become a salute/greeting to those who follow his show.

It seems the term alone is creating curiosity of the show.  (Kudos to Dixon Bawls for bringing it to the table)

Cheers Braapers!  :)

Wow, you've obviously got  an abundance of spare time... NICE GIG!

...dat sum krazee chit maen

BAHAHHAahahahahhahahahahaha

If listening to an audio book while editing videos, while responding to emails, while responding to texts, while responding to messages, while responding to tweets, while responding to skype messages = an abundance of time. THEN YES. I have loads.

Also, ever think I might be listening to it as part of my duties.....nah. I'm just kicking back lounging, relaxing. But you know what bellboy, let me tell you a story about my life. It goes a little something like this. In west Philadelphia born and raised. On the playground was where I spent most of my days. Chillin’ out maxin’ relaxin’ all cool. And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school. When a couple of guys, who were up to no good, started making trouble in my neighborhood. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared. She said ’You’re movin’ with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air’. I begged and pleaded with her day after day. But she packed my suite case and send me on my way. She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket. I put my walkman on and said, ‘I might as well kick it’. First class, yo this is bad. Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass. Is this what the people of Bel-Air living like? Hmmmmm this might be alright. But wait I hear they’re prissy, wine all that Is Bel-Air the type of place they send this cool cat? I don’t think so. I’ll see when I get there. I hope they’re prepared. Well, the plane landed and when I came out. There was a dude who looked like a cop standing there with my name out. I ain’t trying to get arrested. I just got here. I sprang with the quickness like lightning, disappeared. I whistled for a cab and when it came near. The license plate said ‘FRESH’ and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I can say this cab is rare. But I thought ‘Now forget it’ â€" ‘Yo homes to Bel Air’. I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8. And I yelled to the cabbie ‘Yo homes smell ya later’ I looked at my kingdom. I was finally there. To settle my throne as the Producer of Other Side of Midnight.

If you wish to post this unreadable dreck in the general Hoagland thread... then fine. Do that. I would just ask that you not pollute the live chat thread with it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks MV, that makes sense.

Good job.  One good thing is we'll never have anyone calling Hoagie "Dave."  EVERBODY knows Hoagie.

It's really good! I'm impressed! there is so many creative layers that you almost find yourself asking them to slow it down! That's a good thing!

Does the telethon phone actually get mixed into the show? Or is that a private line?

I like to imagine that's exactly what the current OSM studio looks like, to include the computer.

Even on "Casual Fridays", Richard C. Hoagland's hair is "Tuxedo Formal"
