dont get shot in Chicago since i assume thats where you live

I grew up in Chicago, but I moved away after my junior year in high school. It is a good place to be FROM. It was still pretty segregated when I lived there. I've had some scary moments since going back and ending up on the wrong subway line or trying to go to an old neighborhood that had completely morphed since I had been there as a kid.

Trying to catch a taxi at midnight after a Blackhawks game in November was kind of nerve wracking. 30-40 taxis would not stop before I finally stood in front of one at a stoplight. And that was a Thursday night.

good thing guns are banned in Chicago then inst it  ;)

I've been to Chicago twice and drove in that city once. First time I ever experienced that sort of traffic lol. And I did it in a severe thunderstorm. :( I'm freaking out on the highway and can barely see from the rain coming down so hard.

Yeah, but I have never been as scared as when I got lost because of too long of a stay at the Art Deco bar on the Queen Mary and ended up exiting on Rosecrans trying to figure out how to get back to Downey at 1am.

This was in the 80s before cell phones and gps

Don't remember any strip clubs. Too panicked trying to recognize any cross street I recognized. When I used to travel there, it seemed like the strip clubs were by the airport and maybe up by Hollywood. Not that I ever went to one.

I heard the Cattleman's Wharf on Ball Road. was torn down. Used to go there quite a bit, but it wasn't a strip club. It was a restaraunt with a slide that gave you a ride down to the dance floor of the disco.

I don't live in Chicago. I live in a south suburb that was 70% white around 2000. Then Daley closed the housing projects down and gave them all vouchers and then they came here and destroyed the city. The city got some money from the government to fix up the city for our new residents but they destroyed everything within six months. They even bought private land and built a new apartment complex and paid like over a million dollars for it but they destroyed it and now it's condemned.

They keep setting things on fire.  I don't understand them and fire. They keep destroying entire buildings so they have to be razed and now there are lots of vacant lots where houses and businesses used to be.

Most white people fled at the beginning. The ones that stayed can't sell their homes now. Black people don't buy homes, they just rent. So the white people that left too late still have homes here that they can't sell so they rent them out to our new residents. They trash the place and then they move out and you have to replace everything.

Most of the business here have fled.  It's mostly empty stores and buildings. There's nothing here. We had three gay bars and one lesbian bar but our new residents hate LGBT and harassed and beat them up and they all closed up and left.

There is trash and broken glass everywhere. Break ins, and car jackings went up. So have shootings and even murders. Some black co workers overheard me and a white co worker talking about the recent spate of shootings. Some gangbangers went to the funeral home and shot six people at a fucking funeral because the deceased was a gangbanger. And we were talking about this and our black co workers over heard us and got mad. They said that just because there are shootings doesn't mean the neighborhood is bad.

There's a bad heroin epidemic here. They just pass out everywhere. If they pass out on private property then the police will send an ambulance for them but if they pass out like in a vacant lot then they'll just leave them there.

LAX is so awful. I like Burbank more. But why don't they connect to your subway? SFO connects to Bart.
