yup...my girlfriend is a hard ass sped teacher...the social workers despise her...

Being an actual inner city person schooled in inner city schools was a major strike against me. The Utopians from the Midwest, who went to quasi, 4th tier Ivy League schools had all the answers. I'd tell them, I'm not here to build a resume for a year and then split, like you have the luxury of doing. Fuck off.

..and Eddie Coyle has a real cool groovy car.. He drinks booze in it at lunch time.
...while playing some great vibes.  He'd be doing vinyl, if he could get the turntable in his 'smokin set of wheels.

Every once in awhile one of the Utopians would defect to our side. Never vice versa. But the end result was generally...to leave.

Wow in 3 pages we have given a good taste of BG! Nice....

Bellgab is a place in time where The General is a luthier, Eddie Coyle and Roy Orbison are still alive, Gnoory is Dave, and only Art Bell is really who he says he is.  We all take it very seriously and stuff.  Keep coming back, it works!

Belgab is the Frank Zappa of the internet.  Try explaining Frank Zappa to someone who knows nothing of Frank Zappa. THATS how it feels.

Smart bunch of cats (I have futilely tried to explain this joint to my wife).
If you want to mix it up here you need to bring game.
And the lunatic fringe here is positively endearing.

An explanation, umm

Well, its a place that changes at every turn. Every facet is different every day, in different ways, to different people. What I have observed with most of the members is a general ark of posts. Although each member engages at a different level of commitment. But in general, people, at first post a great deal. They gain a certain notoriety or reputation. As that is happening others are starting to pull back and post less. With a continuing ebb and flow, mostly flow, of members old topics become new again. And those with more time here often, it seems choose not to rehash what they originally discussed.

Many members make the assumption of a clique on bellgab. And to some level, I suppose, but it is more just having been around longer. There are very few global solidarities on this forum. Which speaks well for individual thought here.

I spend time on a few other forums, but those are almost >99% for technical information. Here, I do like a vast majority of posters, many of which I disagree with vehemently.

Bellgab, is owned By MV, but its lifeblood is the passion of the members here. I at one time thought MV had a strong guiding hand in that. Now I believe it is because he uses his hand for this particular endeavor minimally.

On a more serious note tho.....seriously, I mean like, it's sort of kinda like some sorta, well, let me just say its like a gathering of highly intellectual living entities of diverse origins and capabilities, working together toward the common good of the world, and yes, ultimately, the universe itself.  But please don't quote me on that.

Onan, you're probably right in a general sense. The "clique" exists, harmless but noticeable. What I've noticed is; certain poster's will make a post, then other (clique) poster's (that usually don't comment on casual posts) will cluster together. Very 'selective' for whatever reason. And there is nothing wrong with that! I wish some would engage more when something interesting happens. At least more than just Art news or Falkies adventures/misadventures.  Just my opinion.

I enjoy your posts onan. I don't always agree with you, but you manage condescension unlike some.  :)

Echo chambers are boring aren't they?

These may not be the driods you're looking for.  ;)

The only echo chamber I tolerate is the one that exclaims how large my peen is, the other ones are irrelevant.

Peen. Reported. Agree with the sentiment. Reported anyway.

C'mon, don't be a spoil sport.

When I said "echo chamber", I was not referring to George Noory's gaping asshole. Reported myself.

No. Picture Walter White at the assembly after the plane crash. That's how I felt more often than not.

I might be the only one on the planet that has not seen Breaking Bad.

That's how I am for roughly 99% of popular TV/movies. Breaking Bad may be the only show I watched regularly since The Sopranos. And before that it was Small Wonder.

Me too, I ignore every popular show that comes along.  Then I started Breaking Bad and watched the whole thing in only three weeks.

Roswells, Art

Maybe I'll watch it. If only to understand Coyle's jokes.
