Drudge would be good because he would help advertise the show on his website. Even Rush would be good for the same reason, that should be a major factor in booking the first week.

Yeah, a lot of people besides right wing guys read drudge. Art also fits ideologically into the drudge mold.

Actually, it would fit.  I remember King doing a lot of UFO and oddball show topics when he was the Big Kahuna on national late-night radio in the 70s.  They could recount his shows on the infamous Enema Bandit.

Another idea just popped into my head. How about Phil Hendrie as a guest? He could talk about his show, fake as Art Bell and confuse callers, and also fake a Norry and he and Art could have a "fake" funny interview with Norry and really get some confused open-line callers.

I agree with FtF on another thread that Art's first guest should be Dr. Edgar Mitchell, but I also would love to hear Dr Jacques Vallee. Both men are giants.


It would also be brilliant if Art turned the tables and interviewed George Knapp, like Cweb said upthread. I've heard the Knappster interviewed on another para podcast and he's a great interview, knows what he's talking about and always does his homework. I'd love to grab a beer and listen to these two old friends discuss the paranormal, wherever that leads.

I will add "Captain Crunch" (John Draper) to my mix of Dan Aykroyd, Trevor Paglan, LMH, as possible first guests. Apparently he is in pretty bad physical shape so I don't know if he could do a full show but interesting story about history of phreaking/hacking, funny stories, government surveillance, and would be interesting for him to explain how Mr.Fidget could always get into open-lines at will....I suspect using some phone phreak methodology.

ps: I will add Kathleen Keating, if she is still alive and "the Anti-Christ/Maitreya" hasn't gotten her (or she hasn't been committed.) It would be, sort of interesting, to see how some of his doomsday guests are faring decades after their predictions haven't come true....or have they?

I love it when lurkers emerge from the shadows.  Dig your avatar, and yes, you make a good point there about Knapp.  We'll see what happens in July, Art will be full of surprises, no doubt.

I'm with you on the Captain Crunch interview, and always found the stories of phone phreaking to be incredible interesting... and wonder if Captain is still crashing on peoples couches. He and Art both have similar backgrounds. Now this also brings back fond memories of Art's interview with Kevin Mitnick.

Art had him on at least a couple of times as I recall. I heard a brief interview with him recently (actually on Alex's show) and so thought of those old shows. I guess he has got some more health problems (again) and is sort of in financial trouble as of a result of health issues and surgery, though, it seems to be an on-going story as I recall. I wish him the best. The original phreakers etc are really interesting especially as much of the stuff was related to analog switches, correct pitch whistlers, special tone boxes, early "social manipulation" of secretaries, etc to work the phone system (and later other stuff.) I guess my age but I recall "tricks" like that (thought nothing as good as they did) to get free phone calls from pay phones and the whole using party-lines, inside business lines to outside lines, etc to gain access to other lines, etc. Good times, not that I ever did such so always like to hear his old stories that resulted in the more modern hacking stuff. As I recall he and Art had a fine rapport and so would be like meeting of old friends again.

I was always excited to hear about phone related wizardry because in the late 90's/early 2000's I was part of a group of people who got to be part of the newfangled telephone stuff such as chatlines (no phreaking) where you could get a good number of people in one room... and if someone knew how to work a phone you could still do magical things that didn't involve hurting others. Now days the art of talking is pretty much dead because people use the internet(s), and text way too much. Part of me really wonders how some of the old guard are doing in this day and age. I know it Mitnick's case he is doing security related stuff.

Linda Moulton-Howe…The poor lady’s been so dissed over the past few years - it’s sad. She always seems passionate about her topics and sources too. I like that about LMH. Art would bring out the best in her.

He wouldn't let her run the tape recorder for 10 minutes I don't imagine...  I'd listen to it.
