Oooooh.  Goooood topic.  And great thread.  We could line out the next/first 6 months of ART's shows for him.  (6 months.  I know, I'm an optimist.)

jazmunda

Better leave room for a big announcement show in the first couple of weeks.

Too soon?

Your optimism veils your pessimism very well.

And this...
http://www.slate.com/blogs/bad_astronomy/2014/09/07/debunking_no_asteroid_swarm_is_headed_for_earth.html

I'm not so sure about this. It's a piece on this topic that would be well worth exploring, but I'm not so sure Art wouldn't chew this guy up and spit him out and then have a cigarette (if he still smokes), and if he doesn't he'd pop in a piece of Nicorette gum or a lozenge or both?

okay here is why I say this.....

All of this data is clearly laid out on NASA’s NEO Program Page which Phil Plait uses to make his case? I guess he figures that the masses have been too dumbed down to notice the obvious flaws in his propaganda effort.

The very first part of the table clearly shows the following --

2014 NZ64 â€" Earth Impact Risk Summary:

Torino Scale (maximum)     0
Palermo Scale (maximum)     -5.03
Palermo Scale (cumulative)     -4.29
Impact Probability (cumulative)     2.1e-06
►►►Number of Potential Impacts   399◄◄◄

Then when you look at the 2014 NZ64 â€" Earth Impact Table the very first column gives, and clearly shows the expected impact year, month, and date -- It is a 96 year span of time that the table covers:

►2017-03-12.76 - first year covered

►2113-09-30.09 - last year covered

Yeah probably is. We should give him a month or two. I know that Keith will be his web master, but is he going to be his podcast producer too? I wonder if Art will be the producer of his own podcasts?

Ya know, I do hope that the callers that do get through to Art Bell will express their angst and uneasiness about how he is running his/our forum.

Are you talking about BellGab? Unless MV has had a sex change I don't think he is Art Bell.  :o

Week 6: Art becomes angry with the Internet and its abundance of truckers, gives it an ultimatum, and quits again.

Not replying if this would be good material for Art's first shows, rather thank you for posting it.
I have been out of sorts since 2012, needed a new sky is falling dooms day, to focus on and balance out my worries. Thank You! All is good in my world again.

ItsOver

I'm definitely "all in" for Art's latest return.  ::)

cell phones are a major part of the deal... and more people are ditching land lines everyday

Exactly. Most of my family and friends no longer have a landline. We just ditched ours as we never used it.

I bet Art still has a working fax machine though.

cell phones should start to sound much better once they improve the compression algorithm and they stop sucking so much and shit

Only because there are no more replacement parts for the mimeograph machine.

Doesn't the compression allow more calls for a given bandwidth?  If so, there's no chance they will stop sucking so much and shit.

cweb

The extreme popularity (and developer apathy) of the toilet known as Skype ain't gonna help either.

The problem is that the mobile "phones" now can do everything fairly well (play games, banking, texting, video, recording, radio, photography, provide the government tracking and surveillance of all your movements and activity, etc) except phone calls! And it seems the industry is focusing on more and more apps and programs to do everything except provide a clear, understandable voice signal! Bizarre to even call them phones, really.

Art is the ring master. The forum is the show (or ring if you will).

Not meaning to sound Heaven's Gateish, but I believe that as Planet X (Nibiru) - the planet referenced by the Sumerians - gets closer and closer we (all people) will begin undergoing a change. A change that will allow us to communicate telepathically and move about ethereally ─  :)

• there will no longer be a need for cell phones-

• there will no longer be a need for land lines-

• there will no longer be a need for a postage or mail service-

• there will no longer be a need for trains, planes, cars, or trucks-

• there will no longer be a need for physical conveyances of any sort-

• there will no longer be a need for fax machines-

• there will no longer be a need for pencils or ink pens-

• there will no longer be a need for fax machines-

A Ω  ;)

Or it will go backwards due to the problems with hacking, spying, and surveillance. Word on the street is that Sony is working with blackboards and pens and paper and the Russians and Germans are using typewriters for secret memos and communications.....

Backwards? noooooooo. I think that it was put quite nicely when it was said that there will come a time when the wheat will be seperated from the chaff.  ;)

We'll still need toilet paper right? Because I'm investing in shitloafs of that. With any luck it'll be the new currency if or when your gloom and doom magic carpet psychic orgy clusterfuck prophecy hits the fan.

The outhouses that I had to use in Oklahoma when I was growing up always had plenty of newspapers to read and use. So I really don't understand your ambivalence about the matter. I really don't miss those cold cold winters.  :(
