2016 Likely Candidates for POTUS?

Started by West of the Rockies, October 05, 2014, 02:09:56 PM

136 or 142

Since I last posted on potential candidates a number of additional Republicans have also announced that they are considering running for the Presidency.  Most of them are major surprises.

1.Rick Scott, Florida Governor
2.Robert (Bob) Ehrlich, former Maryland Governor
3.Rick Snyder, Michigan Governor
4.George Pataki, former New York Governor

On the Democratic side, it appears former Montana governor Brian Schweitzer is likely out.  Since leaving the governorship, he has become the chair of a gold mining company. He led a successful campaign to oust most of the members of the company's board of directors, which suggests to me, that he is in that position for the long term.

Who is the Fake Indian?...

The lady who spent her career claiming to be part Indian in order to take jobs set aside for Native Americans.

Elizabeth Warren.

136 or 142

Man-boy, given that Elizabeth Warren is both an award winning student and academic, she hardly needed to do any such thing.
From wiki: " Harvard Law School had added her to a list of minority professors in response to criticisms about a lack of faculty diversity, but Warren said that she was unaware that Harvard had done so until she read about it in a newspaper. Colleagues and supervisors at the schools where she had worked have publicly stated that she did not receive preferential treatment."
As usual, Man-Boys statement's are lies.

I stand by my original prognostication from long ago.

And why exactly would her colleagues need to 'cover their asses' and why would they lie for her?  Unless you can prove me wrong, the wiki page doesn't site a single source who disputes what her colleagues said.  It's very unusual that she wouldn't have even one enemy who would have said the opposite.
With respect, (which actually means 'with no respect') your comment doesn't exactly stand up to scrutiny.

Man-boy, this must be close to the tenth time I've shown you an independent site that has shown what you believe to be false.  I have to wonder, at what point is it going to finally get through your thick head that the sources you read for 'news' are regularly lying to you for partisan political purposes?

Juan

This Warren stuff was all hashed out during her election campaign.  You have real research to do, as you didn't appear to pay attention.  Real research is not reading a wiki page.

Well let's see. I'm aware she won so that it couldn't have been all that important to the voters and I'm aware that Brown's staff hillariously pretended to be natives in some brilliant attempt to mock her.  That may have been why she won.

So, what would 'real research' say differently from what I posted?

Because the grand venerated and esteemed Harvard School of Law would look like a chump for this scandal to have happened.  And by association, the other professors - it's better for all of them if it went away.  You know how snooty a bunch of Harvard Law professors would be, how much smarter and better they think they are than everyone else.  'Why would they lie for her?" - are you kidding?

As far as the issue of her claiming to be a Native American for career advancement, are you familiar with Occam's Razor?

Or the line about walking, swimming, and quacking like a duck?

And golly, that a Lib with a scandal hanging over her head would win an election in Massachusetts - shocking

Your naiveté when it comes to all things Liberal is breathtaking

He'd rather be outraged over allegations of something Elizabeth Warren may or may not done years ago than be grateful to her for being one of the few politicians who is actually trying to do something to protect the country from further gross malfeasance by the scumbags who run the major financial institutions, and to hold them accountable for the irresponsible and criminal actions that caused the economic collapse of a few years ago.  Apparently, he thinks she's worse than they are (and, ironically, doesn't understand why some people talk about a "war on women").

So fake Indian Elizabeth Warren is at some college stumping for Al Franken in his Senate race.

You bitch.  You cunt.  You lying sack of shit.  This is so typical of the Democrats - constantly pouring raw sewage into our body politic.  Another lie with no substance, no real meaning - like insisting there is some 'war on women', or interjecting race into every single issue or event that comes up.  What a sick shabby pathetic Party they've become.

If she was something other than a far-Left Obama-esque clone, I'd be all for her.  Someone like this capturing the Presidency, she would just pick up where Dear Leader left off - moving us closer to dictatorship and further from our founding as a representative republic.  Further antagonizing our friends and allies while cozying up to Cuba, Iran, and Islamic terror.  Further hollowing out our military.  Further anti-business and anti-jobs policies.  Intentionally dividing the county further.  Continuing the massive borrowing and printing of money.  Ect, etc, etc.

She would be a disaster

Cosying up to Islamic terror? Just today the courts in NY sentenced to life a pile of shit Hamza who had used the UK judicial system against us. Throw in the non shutting down of Guantanamo bay; the various US backed (and led) military and intelligence fights, and I'd say (as would any sensible objective person-so that counts you out) for someone who is 'backing' Islamic terrorists, he's not showing it very well. Maybe that's what the great plan is? Imprison and kil them to 'help' them? Yeah, that's it.

Assisting al-Qaeda related groups in Libya.  Deserting a friend in favor of The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, then alienating the new government when they finally were able to throw those rats out.  Refusing to supply Egypt with the helicopters they requested for chasing down the Brotherhood terrorist operatives in the Sinai.  Refusing to provide Nigeria with the weapons they need to take down Boko Harum.  Giving weapons to al-Qaeda in Syria.  Ignoring his generals on Iraq, and ignoring the situation on the ground there created ISIS.  Ignoring ISIS as a threat until it was too late, and then refusing to supply the Kurds - the only forces in the area willing and capable of taking on ISIS.  The lousy deals with Iran regarding their nuclear program.

There's more, but I dunno, after awhile a pattern starts to emerge.

Do you expect him to go on the air and announce he's throwing in with Islamic terror?  Or do you think he would do a few of the things you suggest for cover?

Closing down Guantanamo?  He wanted to transfer the inmates there to US courts for trial and the American people stood up and said NO.  Congress is also blocking the closing of the prison there.  Obama doesn't get credit for keeping it open

But that isn't stopping Dear Leader from letting those prisoners go though.  Remember trading 5 of the very worst for one deserter?  Or some of the other inmates being released recently?

I would suggest Obama sides with Sunni terror.  Specifically the Muslim Brotherhood and their creations:  al-Qaeda, Hamas, CAIR (allegedly), the US mouthpiece for Hamas, and finds captured operatives and terrorists from other groups expendable.  He got a lot of mileage killing a retired or semi-retired bin Laden

1.Given that Harvard publicly trumpeted its program to offer advancement to minority groups I'm really not sure why they would have felt any embaressment over this.

2.Regarding a Lib winning an election in Massachusetts, you left out that she also defeated a popular incumbent.  So yes, if the people of Massachusetts had actually cared much about this 'scandal' Scott Brown would have been reelected.

3."I read and hear everything thru a lens of skepticism"  You seem to be extremely full of yourself.  I suggest you'd be wise to look up Churchill's comment regarding modest men who have a lot to be modest for.  It's also obvious you don't read and hear everything thru a lens of skepticism.  If you did, and given that you seem to know a fair amount about the Middle East, you'd be well aware that Pakistan has always been an ally of the United States and that the claim that Obama went to Pakistan "in  1981 when it was illegal for Americans to travel there" was obviously false.  Yes somehow you, the genius skeptic, fell for it.

William Federer... is defending retired surgeon and potential political candidate Ben Carson from a claim of plagiarism.

“In my estimation, he has used my material exactly the way I wanted my material to be used,” Federer told National Review Online.

“The fact that he had cited me 16 times shows that his intention was to be honest and up front in his use of my material and the two times that the BuzzFeed article cited that he had not, in my estimation, is an editor’s oversight, errata, and it’s not plagiarism.”

You certainly have chutzpah to join those trying to smear a real American, someone who has actually contributed to our society, while at the same time defending a rat like Barack Obama.  Who doesn't even write his own books.

1.  Because they had someone who isn't really Native American claim one of those positions?

Why else would she be claiming Native American ancestry?  I doubt it's easy getting a position as professor at a place like Harvard, that seems like the easy way to get a plum position there to me.

2.  Scott Brown wasn't what anyone would describe as a 'popular' incumbent.  He ran for an open Senate seat when Ted Kennedy died.  At that time, the Dem's had the Presidency (Obama), the House (under Speaker Nancy Pelosi), and a filibuster proof Senate (60 Dem Senators under Hairy Reed).  The D's were cramming thru bills the American people strongly opposed, like ObamaCare, and threatening to do more.

Even though the good people of Massachusetts lean heavily Liberal, they stood up when the country needed them and elected a Republican - taking away the filibuster proof Senate.

Brown was defeated the next election, when the national crisis (complete control of the government in the hands of the radicals, including a filibuster proof Senate) had subsided.  Brown then carpet-bagged his way to New Hampshire, where he lost that Senate race too

3.  Ok, I looked into it and you are apparently right about Pakistan.  Yes, they are a US ally, it wouldn't have been our country preventing entry, but theirs.  I admit it is too easy to believe the worst of Obama.  He sure doesn't help himself by hiding the documents covering his life.  Not to be snarky, but Pakistan is not considered part of the middle east.

I'm not 'full of myself', you just don't like my posts.  But if I were, I would hardly be the only one around here

Yes. Rising Health care costs.  Although, Papes, you might wanna gander at this...

1996  Death Panels and Seizure of Insurance Company Profits

In an article published in the Harvard Journal of Minority Public Health, [Vol 2 (1), 1996. Carson BS, Washington H: Health Care Reform -- A Paradigm Shift], Carson advocates for death panels, and the forced seizure of profits by the government from insurance companies.

Excerpts from Health Care Reform-A Paradigm Shift:
The most natural question is, who will pay for catastrophic health care? The answer: The government-run catastrophic health care fund. Such a fund would be supported by a mandatory contribution of 10 to 15 percent of the profits of each health insurance company, including managed care operations[...]
As our general population continues to age and as our technical abilities continue to improve we will find ourselves in a position of being able to keep most people alive...well beyond their 100th birthday. The question is "Should we do it simply because we can? It is well known that up to half of the medical expenses incurred in the average American's life are incurred during the last six months of life....rather than putting them in an intensive care unit, poking and prodding them, operating and testing them ad nauseam, why not allow them the dignity of dying in comfort, at home, with an attendant if necessary?...Decisions on who should be treated and who should not be treated would clearly require some national guidelines [...]

Quote..while at the same time defending a rat like Barack Obama.  Who doesn't even write his own books.

Say, when did you start not liking the President?

136 or 142

1. Because they had someone who isn't really Native American claim one of those positions?

The census defines anyone as Native who has a 1/64 native background.  Warren claims 1/32, so, technically she does have a native ancestry.

2.Why else would she be claiming Native American ancestry?  I doubt it's easy getting a position as professor at a place like Harvard, that seems like the easy way to get a plum position there to me.

Maybe because she had been an award winning professor for nearly 20 years at other institutions prior to joining Harvard.

3. Scott Brown wasn't what anyone would describe as a 'popular' incumbent.
From Real Clear Politics October 30,2012 (a conservative organization btw, although their excellent polling aggregation is non partisan): "Brown has cut a moderate profile in Congress, similar to that of Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine.  His approval ratings have remained relatively high."   I believe the two final polls on his approval ratings in Massachusetts were something like 51/34 and prior to that 54/28 which is quite high for a member of a political party that is generally unpopular in the state. In contrast, Mitt Romney left office with something like a 36% approval rating.

4. Ok, I looked into it and you are apparently right about Pakistan.
And if you look into the nearly 10 other things I've shown that you are wrong about you'll similarly find that the websites you read for 'news' are frequently lying to you.  Including your latest lie that Obama did not write his books by himself.

5.I'm not 'full of myself', you just don't like my posts.
Not much you aren't, you think so highly of yourself as to call yourself a "skeptic", when in reality you are this village's idiot and, far from being a skeptic, you are quick to believe everything you hear or read about politicians you do like no matter how outlandish or ridiculous the claims are.

Yes, she claims.  And has very likely used it for advantage.  That's the issue.

Either we believe her or we don't.  I don't.  She's given us no reason to whatsoever

Either we believe in minority set-asides or we don't.  I don't.  But I still expect the laws and policies to be respected if those are the rules - certainly respected by those who claim to support set-asides

I don't believe she's asked for help so I don't see the point.  Is this going to be the Right's sequel to the Ken Starr witch hunt of the Nineties?  Such a productive use of government resources.  Oh wait ... probably not since Dubbya did away with that review process on his first day in office.

13.Jim Gilmore, Virginia, former Governor
14.Paul Ryan, Wisconsin, U.S Representative and 2012 Vice Presidential Nominee

Also
Pete King, New York, U.S Representative, announced he was running over a year ago but doesn't seem to have done anything in that regard since then.

Am I missing anybody?

Out
1.Sarah Palin, formerly of Alaska, Governor, 2008 Vice Presidential nominee
2.Mitch Daniels, Indiana, former Governor
3.Michelle Bachman, Minnesota, former U.S Representative, just joined the "Speaker's Bureau"
4.Susana Martinez, New Mexico, Governor
5.Nikki Haley, South Carolina, Governor
6.John Thune, South Dakota, U.S Senator (possibly may be reconsidering)
7.Bob Corker, Tennessee, U.S Senator
8.Bill Haslam, Tennessee, Governor
9.Marsha Blackburn, Tennessee, U.S Representative

Both sides will find someone they can control or by some stroke of  peoples luck someone honest will be elected then they will get assasinated or compromised.
