That's essentially what I said.
Well why didn't you say it more gooder?

Yep that's what I've been saying:

* Art can stream as low-budget
* Few nights a week + old trusty fillers / decent ppl, not bandwagon jumpers with knives in sleeves
* Few affiliates avoiding c2c slot
* Forget hundreds of affiliates a) he doesn't want to b) too much physical pressure c) I suspect other pressures!

The money he gets via few affiliates should pay costs +
Ads/affiliate(not radio but sales sites w/ cookies to track sales) sales commission  on streaming page: using a flash player to hide direct stream link, well for most, won't stop me :D

I'd suggest he start anew:
* complete new name/logo other than Dark-Matter
* 100% owned by Art
* New trusty old hosts as fillers
* hire IT/sales/production crew/hosts on contract as and when needed, his wife can be secretary

Start small, won't cost much, as it grows turnover funds expansion to whatever upper limit ceiling he sets himself.

He needs a few months to plan this and budget and schedule. I suggest secretly paying non-expensive consultants in each of these fields: IT/affiliates marketing on one-off commission/whatever needed.

Don't PM me Art  ;D not my field nor interested nor have time nor can recommend any names. But do get fresh ppl to advise, many will freely or for very little without using you or wanting shares.

AND remember guys one of the main reasons Art got pissed with sxm was because he wanted more callers listening via internet which sxm was explicitly obstructing.

Never fear folks, Art always wanted to webcast.

Fixed.

How cool would that be! Wait, are you trying to get rid of me or something?

Reading through the many threads of speculation, I always remember something Art said when he called in to the GabCast.  He said that there were other deciding factors at play as to why he quit, and why he remains off-air, that he couldn't discuss publicly.

In other words, there's some shit that hasn't come to light yet, man.

Thing is, I wonder if we'll ever get the full story.  As I remember, when he kicked off DM, he only spent like five mins. talking about the grievences with his previous corporate overlords - and I got the feeling he was leaving out alot.

Not that it matters in the big scheme of things, since if it's Art, we'll listen.  But it is a bit unsatisfying.  It's like if you eat chicken McNuggets plain, they'll fill you up ok, but it's not a meal w/o that savory bbq sauce.  (ok I know it's still not a meal ... best metaphor I could come up with right now, so gimme a break.)

I think Art is a professional.   You don't get to his status without knowing exactly what you're doing and why.   It's not like it was a fluke that he was the #1 show.   He has his reasons for doing things, and I'm sure they are in his and, ultimately, his audience's best interest.   As I always have, even when many of you were shitting on him, I will take Art's word.   If he never returns due to whatever personal reason, I can only thank the man for his years and years of entertainment.

No doubt Art's a pro, but part of what makes him great - his independent streak along with his uncomprimising will to create great shows for his audience - has probably been a double-edged sword.  It served him - and us - well on-air, but also I suspect brought him in conflict with the corporate types he's had to deal with.

I don't understand all that business/legal mumbo jumbo, but I hope whatever arrangement he can swing next time around he gets *alot* more control.  I think the whole non-compete thing is madness and I don't care what Art says about it, I'll always hate Sirius and never give them a dime.

Bigelow (insider) helped Art start, but many are doing it now plus internet is now king. Anyway most of the powers that be find things like Art's show and Mufon useful.

Ppl like Noory Knappy Howe & John B. are sort of libertarian like Art, I respect them all as unlike the big mouths en vogue these days they risk a lot even if it's just careers and money and position. The neo-con self-jinglers on DarkMatter? Wouldn't trust them a single inch.

Not many ppl of strong stock like the old timers coming through these days. Art's the best, he should get on air with an easy schedule next year, better for him too, it'll be OK, he knows what he's doing.
