I have just watched District 9 on Netflix and have concluded that to watch this film you must really be willing to suspend your disbelief ... you will ask yourselves ... what if?

I thought it was a great flick.  What if?  HEheheh.  yeah. 

Isn't there a sequel that is talked about?

I saw it at the cinema when it came out. Disgusting, horrific, funny, inspiring, moving, thought provoking..great film.

District 10

Neill Blomkamp says he does want to make a District 9 sequel eventually, but he keeps coming up with other ideas he wants to make into movies first:

“I really want to make a District 9 sequel. I genuinely do. The problem is I have a bunch of ideas and stuff that I want to make. I’m relatively new to this â€" I’m about to make my third film, and now the pattern that I’m starting to realize is very true is that you lock yourself into a film beyond the film you’re currently working on. But it just doesn’t work for me. I don’t know if it works for other directors, but the amount of ideas and the amount of different places I want to go through the duration of making one film, means that I have no idea what else I want to do during that process. I only know at the end. So if I say I want to make District 10, and then I have 50 ideas while I’m making [next film] Chappie, and when I get to the end I don’t want to make it, it’s not a good place to be at. But I know I want to make District 10 at some point.”

You're right! The parapsychology and paranormal fields and endeavors also tends to lend themselves to that same, what if?, question. That notion can, and should, be applicable to all of our perceived daily existences and realities. The, "what if?", question is about substantially more than just a vague or fringe metaphor meant to identify or to quantify the true nature and existence of all things. That question, "what if?", by default must include the possibilities for all real and/or undreamt of life forms. What must Humans do to solidify our understanding of the true nature of the things that we are apart of and that surrounds us all?

I loved the film as a science fiction piece, but the underlying commentary on immigration and racism annoys me to no end.
