Epiphany? Got one... or more?

Epiphany as defined by Wikipedia: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epiphany_(feeling)

Blessings, and curses... both have their place, and merit. On occasion the universe makes clear to us "our role." These occurrences are often very personal, and have great value to us individually. I have had one such occurrence lately, and I'm going to share it now. I don't think this is the be-all and end-all of epiphany. By definition epiphanies are supposed to be "sudden and striking" and my epiphany could be out of "definition" by that standard. It is just a little one that occurred to me recently, over time. It is one I hope will be a good start for a thread of other people sharing such experiences. I don't look at epiphanies as "generally quantifiable," each is likely unique. One man's "epiphany," could be another man's "duh!"
While growing up my Dad made sure to use many different types of words while talking to me, and also read to me extensively while sitting on his lap. He read the entire "Alice and Jerry" reader series to me, and in fact, encouraged me to follow along word by word, a priceless gift. He was "ever vigilant" to engage me in interesting, stimulating, and challenging conversations. The most valuable gift he could afford to give me was his time and attention, I will be forever grateful.
As a direct result, my vocabulary is extensive compared to the "normal person." In the standardized testing offered in school, I consistently scored in the 99th percentile for vocabulary. This does not make me a genius, since on the same tests I scored ridiculously poorly in math. In life we have to take the good with the bad, and the blessings with the curses.

My minor epiphany was this: If I use words people do not easily understand, I should not be surprised if I am misunderstood.

I enjoy speech, both creative verbal, and written expression. I have fun using two dollar words to make a two cent point. It's like being a gymnast, and jumping off a one foot ledge with a backflip... sometimes you make it, other times you fall flat on your face. If I want to play it safe, I must simply step off the one foot ledge in the most efficient manner.

I'll try to use language in a more reserved style, for hopes that I'm more easily understood... and less often misunderstood.

No promises, or assurances, are herewith proffered... either expressed or implied... and these preponderances have no legal binding weight or validity whatsoever. ;) aka "I'll try."

ps. If you have ever had a moment of clarity you think might benefit others, sharing it in this epiphany thread could be considered public service. Our experiences can benefit each other, however only if we are generous enough to share them.

I was 15 and had just finished. I was cleaning up and I realized my hand never asks me what I'm feeling.

I'll give you thrice as long as you promise to ban three forths, and bring back three quarters to the US.
