And I so looked forward to receiving them three weeks late with postage due.  The holidays just won't be the same this year.

Well, if you insist on encouraging psychosis as a career move you deserve to be one dog eared christmas card down in January.

I make a darn good living encouraging psychosis and derive great satisfaction from my successes. It requires very little effort and I can work from home.  It's a dream job, actually.

A frequency shot refracts off the ionosphere from SBX-1 or HAARP; then it vibrates igneous rock, thus resonating it in the lithosphere at 70.3 Hertz.  After several days of targeting a specific area on the globe a potential for an earthquake arises.

So you're saying what.. it's sonic?  Pressure waves being bounced off the atmosphere?  HAARP is a megaphone?

No further comment this says it all.  Good luck with your comprehension.

Thanks for the study!

So what I got out of that is that seismic Q value is an inverse measurement of the internal friction in rock.  Q can be measured in a laboratory by vibrating rock in a physical apparatus.  Q is affected by outgassing and pressure.

What I did not find are:
1) how would HAARP possibly set up resonant frequencies in rock?  Electromagnetic waves would not do this.
2) How does vibration affect Q values?  The experimenters did not show vibration affects Q values.  They used it to measure Q values of rock samples.
3) What is the relationship between Q values and earthquakes?  I assume higher Q values mean more violent earthquakes but the experiment did not address this.

So I remain skeptical that HAARP can vibrate igneous rock or any other rock, or that it can direct a beam that would do this in some predefined location.  I also have no evidence that this will initiate an earthquake.

I agree to disagree!  Read it again!

Okay :)

Ok here you go and this was taken from the, "Earth's Crust Pdf".

Igneous Rock Resonance 70.3 Hz

In the experiments described here, the excitation technique employs the magnetic drive and detection system used by Wegel and Walther  (1935) in which the specimen is excited by the use of an alternating magnetic field acting on a ferrous electrode mounted on the specimen end.  The vibrating bar technique was preferred over other techniques for providing information helpful for the interpretation of seismic data for the following reasons:

Fused Silica Sample

The Q value is typically determined by the decay method, the signal decay for a bar of fused silica (90 x 6.2 x 4.1 mm).  Here the resonance frequency is 70.3 Hz, the time scale is 2 s/cm, and the measured Q= 3434 at 10^-3 torr and at room temperature is in excellent agreement with Q = 3480 found previously (Sprungmann and Ritchie, 1971), on fused silica with a reed pendulum apparatus in the frequency range 1 to 30 Hz.  The smooth monotonic decay of the signal demonstrates the absence of interference from other unwanted modes of vibration.

The two paras you quoted show how frequency is used to measure, not cause decay.

I find Q to be a very valuable addition to TNG. Plus he was always so witty.

Oh, not the Star Trek thread? Carry on.

Where does it say destroyed? And magnetism isn't radio frequency. You may need a walk to calm down before replying...

...alternating magnetic field acting on a ferrous electrode mounted on the specimen end.

That's a far cry from vibrating something with an electromagnetic wave, and again as stated the resonance frequency of a specific sample of rock, at 70.3 Hz, is being used only to measure Q, not to modify it, by looking at 'sharpness' of the resonance or decay rates according to the study.

I deleted my original reply because I want to understand piezoelectric resonators better before making a lame attempt to describe them as I had tried to do.

"on" is a type-o the word should be "by"!!!! How I know this? The word, "The" appears twice in a row and the word, "by" makes sense.  Also Pud look at this

QuoteThe electromagnetic field may be thought of in a more 'coarse' way. Experiments reveal that in some circumstances electromagnetic energy transfer is better described as being carried in the form of packets called quanta (in this case, photons) with a fixed frequency. Planck's relation links the energy E of a photon to its frequency ν through the equation:[1]
E= hv

Alternating magnetic fields always excite my specimen and make it tingle in a most delightful way.   8)

Maybe you should keep this between you and your psychotherapist. :)

It sounds to me like none of you actually knows what you're talking about :)

I'm just sick of all the bs from these guys.  I wish the science forum didn't ban me for my Freedom of speech u guys make a joke about everything so here is this.

Dude, I don't disregard it. It's just a safe bet that I'm not as worried about it as you.

Even if you're right, so what? What should we do? Write our "elected" representatives?

I'm so scared! Jesus please save me!

The sooner we figure out that nobody's coming to save us, the sooner we can get on with the real business of evolution.

Mike.

I learned something from reading this thread. "Georgie for Prez" needs to be put head to head against the the guest on the so called "science editition" episodes of C2CAM.

Let's See Massive Man Made Earthquakes via HAARP √.  Man made virus's √.  Man made weather via HAARP DEVICES √.  Rumors of Wars are wars √.

Yes I would say we are in the Pre-Tribulation!  You will know when the Tribulation is here believe me!!!

I have to get back to Langley with this, it's too important for ritual humiliation.
