Frankly, I agree with your as-yet-unarticulated point: it's pretty ludicrous that banned users are entirely disconnected from the chat and are unable to even read the website any longer. Who has so much to hide?

Disruptive IRC clients can simply be muted. Accounts can be set to be unable to post, rather than putting all the posts behind an opaque wall. Any deliberate provacateur is going to know how to spoof their MAC or go to the library or bounce off a proxy--some guy having a little too much fun with his friends is not likely to.

It's petty. It would be different if there were some sort of standard or process or whatnot, but it's just some guy or clique whining to MV and him pushing the button if he feels like it that minute. That's certainly fine, but the consequences are wildly out of proportion with the offenses.

If you want to know about prescribing, well, I'm retired now, but I was trusted by the docs I worked with to prescribe and dispense meds quite often, under their name. I'm sorry your level of responsibility only allowed for heating burgers and fries.
