it had not aged well... and has a high level of suspension of disbelief (which is a weird statement in its own right)..which makes the more humorous ones easier to take on though..X-Cops, Je Souhaite, Humbug, DPO and The Amazing Maleeni are some of my faves

I disagree. Younger folks get hung up on things like aesthetics and fail to notice the substance underneath. It's why so many of you have such a problem with the original Star Trek. There are lots of great classic X-Files episodes to choose from but I'm someone who still thinks Kolchak is classic too.  8)

I'm watching Dune for the first time in 20 years. It just as confusing as I remembered it to be ...

not so much in terms of looks and such..overall it didn't age well with the age of internet..

as for TOS..they are hilarious...in ways they really aren't meant to be

Notices how funny the people and sets look while failing to notice the great writing and sometimes decent acting.  ;) ;D

I think the thing that kills Babylon 5 is the badly aged graphics, and that it came out at the same time/has similar concepts as Deep Space 9 (and there are allegations of network heads stealing Babylon 5's concept from a pitch and using it for Star Trek). We'll see how it goes further into the series.

I'm a Bab V fan, and it is far superior to DS9. The nice thing about it is that the creator planned it as a five season series and knew how he wanted it to end before production started, so they knew where it was going and didn't have to make up much as they went along. It also guaranteed they wouldn't paint themselves into a corner plotwise and not know how to get out. Hope you enjoy it!

most of the time i am usually laughing at Shatner's overacting...i enjoyed it but i found it way more humorous than it was meant to be

I watched Salem's Lot for the 3rd time in my life.  It scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.  It scared me (but not as much) when I was in my 20's.  Now at 46, I can still say that movie still gives me the creeps.  The scene that struck me most as a youth was the one where the brother is floating outside the window.  It still bothers me today. LOL!  I think it's a film that holds up after all these years.

Oh sure, it's an easy target. Several comedians made their careers on doing a good Shat imitation. However, even that can't take away from the show's greatness.  ;)

Have you heard anything about Netflix taking them down?

Last I checked, there is still a glitch at Netflix with Season 5 of The X-Files

What I am enjoying the most are the episodes I've never seen.  I mistakenly thought I had seen most of them, but that is not the case.

I usually watch a single season and then take a long break before hitting the next one.  Since I liked Breaking Bad, it's always fun when I to see Vince Gilligan's name in The X-FIles' credits.  And apparently, Vince cast Cranston because of Cranston's one-episode appearance on The X-Files.  It's cool how it all connects.  Someday, when I re-watch Breaking Bad, I will keep my eye out for those X-File references Gilligan put in Breaking Bad.

Cranston in the two:

Was Millenium any good?  I didn't know Chris Carter did that series.

No, not really. If you're a hard core X-Files fan you might want to check it out but it wasn't great, nor was The Lone Gunmen, with the exception of the pilot episode predicting 9/11.  ;) 8)

Dem were the days.  What is the modern X-Files?  Nada.

Come on, Agent Mulder.  We are waiting for the next round.  Bring it.

It might depend on your tolerance for Lance Henriksen.  I liked it.  I've wanted a big yellow house ever since.  That's an inside reference of course.

The anti-Scientology episode comes immediately to mind as a good episode.

It's probably not an indicant, but Chris Carter deciding to sell his Malibu Point Dume estate has caused me to wonder and speculate about any future X Files projects.

It's curious that there hasn't been any news on it ther than "talks are in progress". I thought the new season had been successful enough numbers wise (even if personally I thought the episodes were fairly bland) for an immediate renewal.

Hmmmmmmm.  A little disconcerting.  I thought the next drop was still for next year.  Do I need to start panicking and drinking heavily?  Cam, anybody?  I may need a hug.

I like the older shows better, also no CGI meant you either had to not show the "monster/alien" (so more tension or acting or plot) or have really good makeup.
"Kolchak" is now on MeTV, as is "Twilight Zone."
"X-Files" is also shown on one of the channels at random times (doesn't appear to be a regular schedule, at least that I can figure.)

What could be better for a Sunday night than Columbo, followed by Kolchak? :).

i acquired a tolerance for Meghan Gallagher when she was on Hill Street Blues. Those were the days, weren't they Lou? Damn right they were. That was when justice was most effectively administered in sweltering windowless rooms under hot lights with rubber hoses and a phone book instead of a courtroom, where the deck was always stacked against you with high priced mouthpieces and liberal judges who would have let Son of Sam off on a technicality.

The world has passed us by Lou, and I get down on my knees every day and thank God for my pension and the time share in Branson where the welcome mat is always out for you and Karen between the 9th and 23rd of November. As if you needed any more incentive, I have a copy of the Millenium episode with the group of demons in the diner complaining about the weird guy who can see them in their true form when they're passing for humans.

You enjoyed the cliffhanger ending for the myth arc? You'd think with all their time between seasons they could've had some better concepts for episodes - as it is all I remember are the episodes where Mulder does shrooms and the one with a monster from New Zealand.

It's like the old sets & models for sci-fi shows. They look more fake than modern cgi, but in a weird way, the feel more real since, well they were real things.  Well real fake things.  You know whaddimean.

Excellent! It's where he admits it was a false flag op, essentially and also breaks down emotionally about it.  ;)
