Google, or startpage, "psikhushka" and "sluggish schizophrenia" and you will see how the system works psychiatry on dissidents in a police or socialist state. Or even on nonconformists as in the USA in decades past where a promiscuous girl- or maybe a son who got caught with a joint- would be sent away to rehab or facility without even a court order or hearing, a "problem wife" could be sent to a sanitarium on a husband's order, etc. Or how lobotomies were done on so many people (including a "difficult" Kennedy and almost done on a Nobel laureate Janet Frame). Poor old King Ludwig II shut away in his fairytale castle to rot, so nothing new. Not to even mention sterilization programs of the past. Family fortunes taken away due to finding the right judge and lawyers and get "mental incapacity" deal going. And so on.

But with modern medicine and almost absolute surveillance if the government decided on this path it would be much easier to contain dissent, eliminate "problem" people, or "reeducate" the population.

(I'm not saying there aren't "crazy" people but over-diagnosis, over quickly prescribing powerful psychoactive drugs, a "crazy" society in general in terms of values/culture/politics, and the threat of political abuse of psychiatry might be a bigger problem than the few really dangerous "crazies" out there.)

That seems like a really large number to come up three miles to the surface, through the filters, from a stray explosion caused by organic kitty litter. That's cool, I don't want to remember to learn how to do the math either. What kind of foodstuffs does New Mexico export, is it just salsa and gravel?
