Interesting. I"ve heard about some "offices" in East Texas that, like "offices" in places like Isle of Mann or the Cayman are just, essentially, P.O.Boxes (used to protect some anonymity and for tax benefits). Likewise East Texas has similar set but where a "business" can claim domicile and thus file their claims there. The problems I have here: 1) similar to "class action" and civil liability claims lawyers seek "good jurisdictions" to get the "right juries" (usually of ill-informed, uneducated, and people looking to later "get theirs" from a judgement.) 2) the patent-trolls exploiting a decent concept of ownership and patent protection for things they didn't create, don't intend to market, and want to make money not from the idea/concept but from the lawsuit (or extortion.) Some kind of tort reform is needed. And also maybe a patent holder, or company who is involved in litigation involving a patent needs to prove it is attempting to make money from the patent and run an actual business (similar to IRS rules when they cracked down on tax-shelters and purposely failed business schemes.) Or maybe even loser in lawsuit they initiated pays all, legitimate, expenses if lawsuit deemed frivolous or factually unsound by a judge or jury?

Stifling innovation.  That's just what we need.  Bunch of crap!   >:(

I agree with one of the comments on the article, that a podcast is simply an audio file, posted and shared.  If these trolls invented the mp3 player... then they should go after mp3 player manufacturers.

software patents should be illegal, and should be covered under copyright law (which i think is a crock o shit in its current form). that said all the major players have major income from these "patents" . $micro$haft has a about a 2 billion/yr income off android software patents (from the cell carriers and tablet manufacturers, due to their custom roms). google itself  wont pay and has beaten  $m$ in court over it.
$micro$haft ,apple, google, samsung, etc all have shell companies just for patent trolling. all this does is drive up the cost of end products, as the costs of litigation have to be paid by someone, and that is us, via increased pricing.
it should be noted that $micro$ofts most profitable mobile operating system is android.

They should just start firing judges.

What a steaming pile of bull excrement our patent system is.

(Apple is as guilty as anyone for suing over "shapes" or "menu styles" so I do take some small comfort in the fact that Apple was targeted by the Beaumont jackasses.)

If I were willing to fork over the cash, I suspect I could get a patent on the "application of a quantum tunneling time machine as related to various light waves."

Fucking insanity.
