I have a little obsession with looking at other people's strange and wonderful photos on instagram at the moment so I thought I would start a BellGab thread where posters can post their instagram photos. So go ahead and post your photos of breakfast, lunch and dinner, funny things you see, strange things you see or basically anything as long as it has a filter.

That's the spirit guys. I like the personal touch of those photos.

My photos above are:

1. The lights in my favorite cafe.
2. The sign from a motel that was near my childhood home. Motel is no longer there but the sign is.
3. Painting that hangs in my house.
4. Restored petrol bowser that we bought for my father in law. It resides in his work shed at his farm.
5. My favorite restaurant near the farm.
6. One of the cows on the farm.
7. Sunset at my favorite football stadium the hallowed M.C.G. (Melbourne Cricket Ground).

I don't have Instagram. Am I correct in thinking that you have to take your photos with a phone and use the Instagram app? I rarely take any photos with my phone, so I never signed up with IG.

Yes. However, you can add photos from files saved on your phone and post on IG.

As many visual artists (painters, photographers etc) do when using it as a marketing tool. I've gotten new clients from all over (Japan, Brazil, France etc) just from people following it for my art. And those in dog show world which most my income for the art comes from.

However, I often post silly random pictures. Shopping for new brushes. Or my dog stepping on my painting and maybe a nice goat cheese I picked up at my fav Artisan Cheese Shop. Ha.

Vogue recently posted how top art collectors, galleries, auction houses are using Instagram .

For visuals, it's great. But up to you how you want to use it.

I have friends who are editorial photographers and their shots are exquisite.

Thanks. Most of them were taken with my normal camera and sent to my phone via wifi or via my computer and then uploaded to instagram.

Instagram would be a great way for you to get a following of the photos you take (which are awesome btw).

Thanks. I'm definitely going to take a look at signing up. I'm happy with SmugMug, I've had over 6,000 views since Sunday, but adding another page won't hurt.
