Film Every Encounter With Police!!1

      Did you know it is ok to film the police? So why do they get so mad? If they have nothing to hide whats the big deal? I mean they tell me this all the time when they try to search my car or ask for my ID. The only problem is I have the right to film them they do not have the right to search me for my ID unless I am being detained for a crime.
      The filming of government officials engaged in their duties in a public place, including police officers performing their responsibilities, fits comfortably within these principles. Gathering information about government officials in a form that can readily be disseminated to others serves a cardinal First Amendment interest in protecting and promoting “the free discussion of governmental affairs.” Mills v. Ensuring the public’s right to gather information about their officials not only aids in the uncovering of abuses, see id. at 1034-35 (recognizing a core First Amendment interest in “the dissemination of information relating to alleged governmental misconduct”), but also may have a salutary effect on the functioning of government more generally, see Press-Enter. Co.v. Superior Court, 478 U.S. 1, 8 (1986) (noting that “many governmental processes operate best under public scrutiny”).!!1

I have had my car searched twice. Both times because it matched the description of some ne'er-do-well vehicle. First time was my 68 camaro convertible. The guy they were looking for had a 68 convertible firebird. It was on a military base. Other than having more than 10 MP's giving me the stink eye for about a half hour... well it's fun to tell at parties and on this forum. The other time was about 4 years ago, my bmw had a very similar plate number to a guy with a bmw and took his kid across state lines while under court order not to.

Always a pain in the ass, I suppose.

The filming of police incidents in order to prove to the policeman that it is legal to film the interaction and the policeman getting all pissed is my favorite genre of YouTube video.

I protest against wars were my friends are dying or coming back disfigured or unable to work because their bodies might be home but their minds are still at war and are Government are cutting their benefits and closing down PTS groups for lack of funding(Support the troops as long as it is just words right). I protest against the Government doing what ever they feel like(NSA). I protest against bankers robing the American public of their hard earned money and only getting small fines instead of prison. I stand up for the rights that so many died to protect, and I flex these rights. I mean really people just like you stood up against police forcing segregation when it was against the law(FreedomRiders) Do you think we might just owe those who died to stand up for those rights? I do not know about you but I feel that I owe them to stand up for every right they died for and are still dying!!1

and whats worse, they cut vet benefits , whilst send hundreds of millions to known terrorist organizations
(hamas anyone, how about the al-qaeda  associated  syrian rebels. more al-qaeda affiliated libyan rebels, the list goes on and on).  now this cash *could* be used to fund universal health care, and the VA. but nope, gotto spend it on terrorist groups and weapons to kill/maim  more of our soldiers.

They'll lecture you about behaving responsibly and facing consequences for your unlawful actions.  They however, don't exactly like that standard applied to themselves ... i.e., the Watchers don't like to be watched.

I would give anything for video of an encounter my elderly mother had with one local rookie cop who was on a major power trip.  I would have loved to make that guy a youtube sensation.

I had an '83 Berlinetta (5.0L V8), and along with a gamut of wrecks (morons smashing into me), it saw me through a bunch of encounters with cops that ran the gamut from being allowed to move along when I would probably have blown a 0.3 BAC, to being pulled out and made to assume the position and get shook down inside my apt. complex for not having the current tag decal stuck on the tag even though I had it, newly purchased, inside the car and shown to the cop.  So on and so forth.   Had to sell the car in economic dire straits back in '01.

For the record, I have LONG advocated the position that wanting to be a cop should be automatic disqualification from getting to be one.
