Zoo

I was looking on Facebook and this really got to me"Why are we the only species to pay to live on Earth". I thought about this for a while and still don't know why. Who was the first person to say hay I own that part of land and if you want anything from this area you must pay? Who was the  person that said ok, sure how much? Was it religion that started this? Economics? Or have we been fooled by the elite who make the rules from thin air? So explain to me what makes it ok to own land, when we are nothing but mammals just another species on the plant?

Put simply, we're (humanity) a selfish, avarice driven, dispassionate plague.  Some notable exceptions, but 7 billion (and counting) individual pieces of filth.

You need to look up David Icke.  You might enjoy some of his material.

Just the other day though, I was thinking to myself how animals know no boundaries - forget countries, states, cities - they don't even obey property boundaries unless there is a fence or some way to stop them from coming in, and even then you'll never stop every type of animal unless you live in a sealed box.  Not to mention that most animals are usually welcomed on people's properties.    But that's just civilization for you - animals who don't like each other's presence will kill each other, and in order for us all to co-exist as humans rather peacefully we must respect boundaries.

As for money, you could trade services or commodities but that's all money is - a way of abstracting trade.  So that's why it's there, really.

Well, yes we pay to live on this planet. But we pay ourselves.  ::) How human is that?

You lost me on Facebook.

Anything facebook, Twitter or now Google+ is more like saying "I was looking in a dumpster behind a truck stop"

As for your quesion. I agree, but there are ways around it. Going off the grid is the best, but that requires a lot of work and money if you want to do so legit.

Some guy at Harvard taught Capucin monkeys to use money. So we aren't the only ones.

Well then, I now own this planet and all shall pay me a monthly due to live on this planet. By paying this due I will allow you to use the air you breath, water you drink, and food you eat. This will show me that you are a good person with good standing, and with this good  standing I will allow you to rent more land from me. You may then charge others to breath air, drink water, and eat food on the land that you rented from me. I do this because I care greatly for you and have your best interest in mind. My only wish is to see you flourish and grow into even a greater person so one day you may stand by my side. I give you this chance of freedom because I have great faith and respect for you. I give all this to you and only ask you give me a small percentage of what you make off of those you charge to live on the lands I have let you rent from me. Now go forth and make me proud and show me what a great person you are!!1

I'd say it started with the people in the tribe finding nice places to sleep and keep their tools.  Fixed it up to be more comfortable.

When the tribe came into contact with another tribe, they made it clear certain areas - hunting grounds, fishing areas, food prep and sleeping areas were off limits.

When plants and animals were domesticated, at some point individual farms and permanent housing were laid out.  And it went on from there.

As far as birds and animals, they know whose territory is whose.  In town they all know where the dogs and cats live and which ones are dangerous to them.  They all know where the food is and who eats what.  Birds get together and drive off other birds like crows and raptors.  There is a lot going on that people aren't aware of or think about.  They just don't have deeds or build fences.

Our choice is individual property ownership, or the ownership of property by the government.  We have examples of both - now and historically.

It turns out we humans do much better when we get to keep what we produce, and either consume it ourselves or trade it for other property ('property' we own or buy certainly includes real property such as farms, homes, factories, businesses).

Well this is was well put PaperBoy.. Still comes to the point who had the first right to sell the land.  King? Emperors? Warlords? So I thinking one day someone said hay I own this and I can now sell it!!1

Well that makes me feel worse knowing that we are destroying another species with greed!!1

The little black outside cat knows she owns the half-block I live on.  She demands tribute in the form of petting for allowing me to live here.

Zoo, you ask some interesting questions, but I think the answer is probably pretty damn clear:  might makes right

I daresay that as soon as one hominid realized he was bigger than another, he took up a club and smacked the guy on his noggin, grabbed his woman, and started barking out orders.  Oh, we may have codefied matters by creating laws and such, but in nature, (s)he who has the biggest biceps (or wallet) tends to dictate the rules, don't you think?

West of the Rockies, I agree but now as evolved humans we still fall victim to this. Which truly make me think we have been taught this for nothing more than control.. I see it when it comes to all the arguments about the debt ceiling. We are fooled to think that their is something we can do. Sad thing is we can never pay the debt off ever.

because the alternative is to kill or injure to get what you want or for someone to get what they want from you, as happens in the animal world rather than the exchange of currency.  i'd prefer to hand over a couple ben franklins rather than pick up a mace.

b_dubb

yes. we pay because we live in civilization. and don't have to kill or be killed.  unless we drive into Detroit for some reason. only a matter of time till cannibals take over there.

Which is why I recommend the Peenman Enterprises Ass Purse.
Friends, when the inevitable looting and rioting breaks out, which is only a matter of mere days or weeks or months away, where will you store YOUR valuables?

Question is... will it work in tandem with my chrome buttock mold?  It doesn't say in the manual.

Absolutely, but what you want to avoid using is the Crap Chili Maker or the Turd Vaporizor for obvious reasons.

I will never, ever forgive any alien that tries to "know" me in that area.

I've always wondered if maybe the problem was that he was dressing too provocatively.

Because they don't want to talk afterwards.
