George's Appearance on The Spec Sheet (A podcast)

Curtis Thornton (themudking) and I do a technology podcast called The Spec Sheet.  Some of you are already aware of this.  On the November 5th show (which you can listen to here), George Noory called in as we spoke about Art's departure from SiriusXM.  During the call, George mentioned he'd like to reappear on the show and take questions from all of you without limitation.  He mentioned a private message he'd sent to me about the matter, but I hadn't read the message at the time he mentioned it.  Well, yesterday I finally got around to reading the message.


It says pretty much what he said it would, with one additional bit.  In order to appear on our show, he wants the George Noory Sucks thread to be removed and replaced with something more "positive."  Again, I say... this guy's got some balls.  Wrecking balls.  The type that take down fortified steel structures.


George, we get it.  You came on the show, you were nice, admitted a few faults, answered a couple of my ill conceived questions, and generally made a couple of friends.  However, I don't see how this changes anything with regard to the ongoing existence of the GNS thread.  It's merely a repository of thoughts and opinions people have expressed about you and/or your show.  Sure, those thoughts and opinions aren't always positive, but based on the name of the thread, one shouldn't expect them to be.  The thread is packed with comedy gold, history, references to long forgotten events, and general brilliance.  Rather than delete it, I'd like to have it professionally printed and sold at B&N.


The GNS thread is what it is.  It sprouted organically, it's responsible for the very existence of this forum, and it's here to stay.  Also, George, you've been posting in that thread for some time now, which as I see things, seems to even further demonstrate the thread's validity.

The GNS thread is subject to the free market.  When demand for it goes down or ends so will the thread.  Some of us have posted alternatives, sans "sucks" and they will be available if and when demand calls for it.

In his defense I would ask the same thing if I were the target. But that, as I think you are more than aware of, would be the initial split of the forum. For a time I was rethinking my crudeness towards him... not now. the one trait I hate in people is not owning up to their behaviors which have long standing consequences. Noory's only positive recourse is to laugh it off and claim it as his past, then move on. But not for this guy, lets hide it and pretend it doesn't exist. I suggest he read Scott Peck's book, The People of the Lie.

You're doing the right thing by not giving in to this request, MV. I can't fault GN for trying to get the "sucks" title changed, but this forum is famous for that very thing.

You're also doing the right thing by ignoring all the posts recently that demand that people be banned, and also by generally staying out of it. The Art Quit thread is also organically growing and peer pressure will out the trolls eventually; besides, people want to vent (for or against one side or the other) and allowing them to do so is very fair at this point.

Mr. Noory: The best way to disable that thread is to stop sucking. During the short time you were posting at BellGab, you received numerous polite, content-filled replies about how you could be better at your job and stem most of the criticism. You made a conscious decision to ignore the advice you received and you are no better an interviewer than you were before your appearance here. I believe everyone here would be willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and ease up on the criticism if you showed us one tiny example of how you're trying to be better at hosting C2C.

However unfortnate, that comes with the 'celebrity' territory. From personal experience,  it's going to be out there. If not online but elsewhere. Not saying by any means it is right. Wow. Just when I think he's been rehabilitated and/or rehabilitated himself, or has otherwise been shown to be not such a bad guy after all....suddenly, WHAMMO!. It's a homicide scene. A murder house. Blood everywhere. And George the serial professional-suicide strikes. Again.

George has an incredible talent, unique in the entertainment business as far as I can tell - maybe outside of Paul "Pee Wee" Reubens. It's his penchant for shooting his own dick off, at least as far as I'm concerned. And he does it repeatedly. Eternally. Because every time - every single time - events converge in such a way that George begins to look like a decent human being and an okay guy whom we may have treated unfairly or too harshly, he up and behaves in such a way to confirm my earlier attitude about him. And he proves that, yes, he really is as big a moron, buffoon and conceited, arrogant ass as I had always known.

And as we know, there are no coincidences. Thank you, George, for confirming that we always had you pegged right.

I really do wish that he would have left that part out, or bring it up on the Spec Sheet. He came off as professional and surprisingly well-spoken. Too bad that was not his last impression. He had to show his true colors in that message. Disgusting! Whose fault is it that GNS exists?

Discuss?  Ahahaha!  I could always send you another tl;dr cautionary private message about the proven history of bullying and deception that is George Noory.  But, I'll spare you this time...you're welcome. 

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your response quoted above!  You're a kinder person than I when it comes to these types of things.  I'd say, hell yes!, Print the thread out, bundle it with the Jorch's Eye Pad thread and sell it on the Dark Matter website!   It's a guarantee that at least 1,000 BellGab members would shell out a few bucks for that!  Also, I'd say, hoist the jolly roger and change the domain name back to GeorgeNoorySucks.com in the event that Art doesn't reach an agreement with SiriusXM to continue his show.  George doesn't seem to understand that, whether Art Bell is broadcasting or not, George Noory still sucks and always will.

You know, I personally do not think George is as terrible as a host as you all do.   Some of you guys are downright awful towards him, or at least towards his style.   He definitely is no Art, and if your attitude is anyone but Art sucks shit, well, then George sucks shit.  But I don't think that way.   He's right in that you have to have *some* kind of talent in order for the guys at Premier to let him take over such a large show.   There are certainly worse that could have taken over.   Is he perfect?  No.  Do I listen to him often?  Nope.   Have I ever been entertained by any of his programs?  You bet.    I think George with a fair number of his guests is like scratching a chalkboard, but with a good guest who can field George's "tough" questions and turn them into information gold, the show isn't bad, and it beats a lot of other radio.   It's like the bad sex is still better than no sex line we've all heard a million times.

I emailed George after his appearance on the show to tell him that I respected him coming on your cast MV, but I have to say that after reading your first post in the thread, I am pretty disgusted with him.    Kind of blows any credibility he had with the call-in out of the water.   He said that most people were having fun, so why remove the thread entirely?   I could see maybe asking you to remove some of the really lewd comments (not that you'd do it, but asking is okay)... but to remove the entire thread is an insane request.... akin to Art asking Sirius to let him stream his show for free.

Although I am not a big fan of the thread, and I did make one post in it that was relatively positive to George, I say absolutely do not delete the thread! 

@George, you need to apologize for that request and let be what is.   It's not like MV is going to cave and delete the Art Bell Quits thread either.    You will always have people saying you suck.   Get over it.   If it was Tommy making you request that, or someone else at Premier, tell them to pound sand and come on MV's cast anyway.
