HEY YOU GUYS! I THINK THERE'S A NEW ART BELL RUMOR!

...not sure though...

I guess I'm just pining away for good ol' times when I'd visit this thread and see some new news...

...now, when I visit there all I see are flying dicks and horses being whipped

...and pics of John Wells

:'(

Coz

Someone should put this thread, out of it's misery.

It documents a tragic loss for a great many people. However it's continuance is a reminder of "fail" on so many levels.

Let. It. Die.

Was she the one who was talking up the Kennedys like crazy the other night?  She practically had a hard-on for that group of power-hungry, corrupt fuckheads.

Almost as annoying as that The Secret Teachings The Pointless Correlations, where the bloviating host uses symbology to draw spurious connections between corporations, Illuminati, Zionists, and the usual groups.

From the beginning of this gigantic thread people have gone OT.  Some forums are sticklers for being on topic, other forums/sites aren't.  Why demand a change when a site owner is doing their thing?

Dark Matter Radio is pretty cool, but this Carolyn Goyda is a real piece of work.  She makes me miss Art all that much more.

I am torn between being unhappy with Art for bailing, and being mad at Sirius for being aholes, what he asked is not unreasonable and after all, Coasttocoastam IS webcasted, and they chose that, so what the fuck, SXM, hypocrite much?

McPhallus

I don't know about "tragic loss" unless you're intentionally being hyperbolic.  Losing a great radio show is still, at the end of the day, a first world problem.  I have found this thread much more tolerable now that the deluded "free art bell" circle jerk has finally died, some of the mania-fueled posters have gotten bored and left, and the uninformed speculation about the NC has pretty much stopped.

No one forces anyone to click a thread to read. Everyone has a different seat and almost always wants something different from the menu. viva the irrelevance.

When I travel alone, I like to be by myself.

About the Dark Matter Radio Site, A REQUEST TO KEITH ROWLAND:

With Coast to Coast AM and with Art Bell's show, Dark Matter, the players would play for the 4 hours and then cease, so that my REM sleep wasn't disturbed.  I am searching for a way to listen to Dark Matter when I lay down at night but have it stop playing after 4 hours, or 3 hours, or whatever, something, anything.  I have to get up very early in the AM to work, and I am finding that I am more fatigued on nights that I leave Dark Matter Radio on all night.  Keith, could you please find a way to let us listen for a period of time and then let the player stop, preferably a time period of our own choice?

I still listen to CoasttoCoastAM, even though I don't care for George Noorey and feel utter dislike for John Wells, because they stop after 4 hours.  I'd like to be able to control how long something plays down to half hour increments.

Speaking of which, it's almost bed time.  My week's vacation is over, back to the grindstone...

laserjock, on the Quits thread Producer_Paul mentioned that Keith doesn't read the threads here on a regular basis. He advised emailing Keith directly at artbell.com.

Thanks, will do.  Anyone else that would like this?

I appear to be in a somewhat combative mood today, so I really have to ask this.  Do you honestly believe that anybody is ever going to read those pages again and read straight through to page 732?  Is there anybody out there who thinks that a decade out from now somebody is going to be glad if we cut this "document of our tragic loss" off at page 50... That historians will read what we felt to condense it into book form?  That it will serve as a guide to those experiencing loss in their own lives of how best to deal with it?

This tread is long dead... it now serves as a catch-all.  It really is not hurting anybody and it is not tainting a board (or a thread) that is otherwise pure and flawless.  What purpose would shutting this thread down serve?

If you listen through an iDevice you can set the timer app to stop the audio after a certain time.

There is no news. MV runs a great site with many cool people. This keeps me coming back. I couldn't care less what happens with Art. These extenuating circumstances happen too often with him.

Noooooooooooooooooo! I actually have said I want the Xbox One to fail, but I think MS has unfortunately created a more compelling product than the PS4. Noooooooooooooooooooo!

I'm more interested in what Valve is doing with the Steambox and SteamOS.

One rather optimistic way to look at the Dark Matter/SXM debacle, is to think of it as an opportunity to clear up any misconceptions that the DM show would pick right up where Art's classic C2C show left off.  I've been listening to more of the old AB shows recently and realize the times--particularly era Y2K, 9-11 shows--were informed by an entirely different socio-political climate.  A climate where so many paranormal topics were politicized, even subjects seemingly irrelevant to one's political opinion.  This is the main reason I can not stand to listen to Noory's C2C--how guests are permitted to inject their political agenda into just about any discussion.

I think Art was headed in the right direction at the beginning of DM to forgo having political discussions.  Removing the politics, then the goofy fringe hacks we heard from prior to Y2K opened up a wide space to fill with informed, intelligent thought-provoking radio, bringing us to a place where discussions of the paranormal coincide with the latest scientific discoveries.  That simply wasn't going to happen on a corporate stage like Sirius XM where irreverent controversy rules.  I'm going to consider the SXM version of Dark Matter a necessary transition and continue to anticipate Art Bell's return to the microphone for the next chapter.

It's unfair to lump all of Sirius/XM under the Howard Stern umbrella - different shows for different audiences. It's a pity that Art chose to play hardball rather than keep to his contract and bring us the thought-provoking radio that we've enjoyed over the years because he was given that opportunity on satellite. He had total creative freedom over the content of Dark Matter without any input from management (a dream gig for most talkers) and only had to build an audience with time, one that appreciated intelligent discourse. Although it was a smart decision to rule out an AM/FM radio return now that satellite is off the table, I fear that internet streaming will bring on a slew of unexpected problems for Art. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

And I'll kindly answer; from the perspective of having listened to last week's inaugural episode of The GabCast 2.0 with Onan, Jazmunda and Eddie Dean, without MV hosting, the Dark Matter Network doesn't need anymore train wreck programs (smiley face with winky eye crap)

Or is it that the trainwreck doesn't need anymore dark matter network?
