Art Bell Quits Dark Matter

Paul already posted that the non-compete runs out on September 1st, 2015 which is less than two years. Again, I highly doubt Art wants the headache of a legal battle with Sirius/XM.

It could easily take two years to fight this and probably 150k in legal fees, minimum.

If Sirius had a heart they would let it go.

No offense to those talking about donating to Art's legal costs, but you are suckers. I wish Art the best, and want to hear him on air as much as all of you, but I guarantee he is wealthier than most of us combined, and I'm increasingly weary of the rich and powerful (Spike Lee, Zack Braff, etc.) using Kickstarter, etc. and otherwise begging the working class to fund their vanity projects.
rather be a conscious sucker, as you put it, than spineless. It really isnt about money, arent you smart enough to know that (obviously not)? Its about support, morale support. I know Art is wealthy, well gee, so am I. Grow up junior.

                                                                      STATEMENT TO BELLGAB

On behalf of Art Bell, I am issuing a statement to the participants of BellGab, the fans of Art Bell, and even Art's enemies.

A number of days ago Art and I made contact in regard to his legal issues involving Sirius XM, and now Premiere Radio and Coast to Coast.  Art's desire is to return to the air as soon as possible, and he wanted me to investigate his legal options.  Art instructed me to look into each and every option, and by that he meant every option, after which he will decide which avenue to select to return to the airways.  Every option is on the table, but the preference is for a quick return in a format that Art prefers.

Art Bell is not a businessman, and he made a mistake trusting those who perhaps should not have been trusted.  He is now assembling a team in order to correct that mistake, and will make his decision fairly swiftly.  It is gratifying to note the legal hurdles do not look nearly as significant as initially feared, and I will present Art with a number of legal options in the very near future.  If that is what is required to get a show on the air, Art will proceed with one of those legal options, though the final decision remains with Art Bell.

Those of you who have ideas on how to proceed with the ground troops, i.e. BellGab itself, should feel free to send me a personal message with your ideas.  Videos, posting at certain sensitive websites, and other such actions, are all encouraged if done in a legal manner.

On a more personal note, in doing due diligence I have been allowed to review much of the existing "back room" documentation, and it is everything Art has stated and more.  The failures of the Sirius system have been consistent and widespread, with documentation to support this, and which Art approached Sirius with from Day One.  Records of this exist.  I have instructed Art not to get into too much detail on this until such time as a final legal team and plan of action have been selected.  Suffice to say, the other side frequents this website regularly, and it is wise not to show our hand until we decide to play it.

In conclusion, all legal or other options are now being evaluated.  Art will make a decision in the near future on how to proceed.

By the way, this is the dollar attorney Art listened to for legal advice. If he was serious about fighting the non-compete, he would have looked for counsel outside of this forum, surely.

I don't want Art to fight anything or anybody, using his money or Monopoly paper. He deserves to ENJOY life and hangout with Asia if he wants to. He rolled the dice and lost this particular game. The suits want to claim victory, but what a hollow ring. They should go hang themselves with their silk ties.

Maybe Jorche will fall down a flight of stairs and bust his gut before Sept. 2015. Or choke on a molten lava midnite schnack. Maybe Sirius will get bought out by a Bell fan and truly free Art. Anything could happen. We yak about mind experiments but when the shit hits the FAN, no one really believes in it. I do.  It worked in September 2013 . . . I'm going for it again.

Art bit the hand that fed him, they're not going to release him from the NC and he wants no part in a legal battle.

It'd be depressing if the counter started from today but it started
from 1, Sept so we are already almost a 1/4 of a year through.

You think of everything, Producer Paul, and I'm happy to hear you're sticking around. Sure, we're vicious critics but there's that vaguely lovable thing that is awfully hard to resist.  ;D

You are a real ass buddy. You have no idea who you are addressing on this forum. None whatsoever. So, you think that because someone is on this forum that they are somehow not intelligent and successful in their field? Fuck off. You dont know anything.

yes and fuck yes

To those of you practically begging to donate money to a millionaire (who regardless of how you spin it helped create this mess)...please stop. If the NC was longer than 2 years it might be worth challenging....but here's the thing...2 years is a pretty clever number (Sirius lawyers aren't stupid) 2 years is long enough to sting but not quite long enough to make it worth challenging because yes, it's expensive but more importantly it takes a long time to navigate through the legal process. It takes longer than you think.  It's not worth the effort and it's not guaranteed that Art would be successful. Art mishandled his whole relationship with Sirius well before he even got on the air. For the love of god Art, stop consulting with the C Crane guy and get a lawyer to read over your contract next time. That part of all of this is definitely on Art.

rangerdavid

WTF Art?  Your "lawyer" is now discussing your NC with SiriusXM and Premier and C2C?  WTF do Premier and C2C have to do with it?  His contract was with Sirius, Premier has zilch to do with it.  Did he get his legal representation off Breaking Bad???

So you disagree that if Art truly wanted to fight the NC that he would have consulted more than his cats, Bob Crane, Paul and someone on a forum? Pick up a phone, thumb through the yellow pages, give George a call - he could have named a few. I think some people who come here, such as yourself, have their heads in the clouds and refuse to look at this situation objectively.

It is time to let it go.

No need to insultate another member here because YOU think Art didn't get proper representation.

It is time anyone who thought this would be settled in a matter of days woke up and welcomed reality back into the equation.

Art could have fought this and maybe won... but it wasn't getting done in a matter of days and it wouldn't be as easy as many were dreaming it would be.

What makes Art Art is also what makes him walk away from a show when it is not what he envisioned it to be. If you want Mr. Reliable then listen to Noory. If you want an artist then you have to put up with the artist temperament.

Its not about money dimwit, its about tangible support. duh.

You seem to think a legal fight is somehow akin to mud-wrestling. It takes money and lawyers. You think they are going to drag Art under the heat lamps and beat a confession out of him?

I love art as much as everyone here but the reality is, Sirius had a contract and a signed non compete. Unless he can prove material harm we will have to wait a while.

Fuck Sirius. Time to call my aunt in the old world and have her place an ancient Turkish hex on them. They will go under in no time. That shit always works. Any Noory...well, that cunt will self-destruct eventually anyway. I'll be there to piss on his ashes.

Anyway, to all who worry Art will be too old in 2 years: Larry King and Andy Rooney. You're never too old. That's all. But, Art, if you ever sign another non-compete, I'm gonna come to Pahrump and toilet paper your house! Goddammit!

Forgive me for this guys & gals.  I'm a little sad.

O Fortuna by Carl Orff

O Fortune,
like the moon
you are changeable,
always waxing
or waning;
hateful life
first oppresses
and then soothes
as fancy takes it;
poverty
and power
it melts them like ice

Fate â€" monstrous
and empty,
you whirling wheel,
stand malevolent,
well-being is vain
and always fades to nothing,
shadowed
and veiled
you plague me too;
now through trickery,
I bring my bare back
to your villainy.

Fate, in health
and in virtue,
is against me,
driven on
and weighted down,
always enslaved.
So at this hour
without delay
pluck the vibrating string;
since Fate
strikes down the strong man,
everyone weep with me!

Dimwit? That's nice. Then we agree it's not about money...not the issue or the problem. Art has it and it clear he has the support. What am I missing?
He has told everyone to lay off Sirius and on more than one occasion he has stated money is not a problem for him.

I certainly know what fuck off means. Thank you very much. I would splain it to you Lucy, but I can already tell you arent capable of getting it.... but for the sake of clarity. You don't have a single fucking clue who said what to whom. Period. Now,please just fuck off, I am not responding to you.

If it was good enough for King Arthur in Excaliber (great movie), it's good enough for Art, Master and Legend

True, but it is a unifying endeavor. Dimwit may have been strong but , well, re-read your initial post and you tell me if I really crossed the line. Tone is hard to read.
