Some people, like Art, and including me, are just trusting people. Trusting to a fault. It can be a trait that comes back to bite you or be a really good thing.

Penguin, did you listen to the gabcast from yesterday? If not, should. If you hear lies, then I would get a hearing aid or a translator. I just didn't hear or detect any lies or deceptions. If you were Art Bell and you did not walk away from Sirius, I would think much less of you. In fact, I wouldn't think much of you at all. It is the kind of rolling over for corporations like Sirius that is bringing America down. America only has as much integrity as its citizens have. It is wrong to reward Sirius for their behavior.

Regardless, I (and many others) gave a rats ass about Sirius and thought Art was foolish for trying that route...Yet we supported him anyway. Sirius did what they said they would do- Art did not. I still have 9 million channels of bullshit I dont listen to- Just no Art Bell.

EDIT- Plus Art is an 'entertainer' guys (not your Bro) who spins things and is damn good at it- Lots of folks have this talent... Because Art sounds sincere means jack shit. My father was a detective and can tell you stories about people who can make you believe just about anything (and these are not iconic heroes you WANT to believe)

But again. This is all moot if Art would have not quit. I have no way of knowing the truth (nor do you...) but I can connect dots and use common sense here to draw my conclusion- Which is that this is an elaborate excuse and Art Bell is gone for good.

Time will tell (if he is gone for good-) and as for the 'truth' here? We will see if this ever makes it to court (it wont...)

Why not become an independent broadcaster from the start so you could freely stream on your website if the issue was so important? Like Malachi_Martini said, a simple Google search could have revealed that there wasn't an easy setup for international listeners - being misled on something that could have easily been checked on is silly. Actually they told me it worked Worldwide. I have that in writing. They also said The U.S. and Canada. Yes it
is my fault for not investigating the troubles anybody can read about but I was putting all my effort and time
into everything show related. 20/20 vision is so much more clear when looking into the past.

I've never had one issue with Sirius or Netflix streaming. Which leads me to believe that many of the problems which sent people into a fury over Dark Matter was likely a poor connection on the user's end and Art bought it hook, line and sinker. North America has some of the worst connection speeds in the world, keep in mind.

If the problem was on my end, why could I stream C2C live and on demand and stream DM on demand but not live without significant drop offs?

Their app is pretty gruesome. I was always happy when a download show just decided to disappear half way through listening to it, or it would just start playing while in my pocket. You know how hard it is to rewind to a specific point in the show with that slider.... Frustrating to say the least.

Oh well, Art- I love ya man. As a broadcaster you have no equal. As an interviewer you could interview a Tree and make it interesting. I think you are the best thing that ever happened to Radio.

...But, I also think this was a way to get back at C2C and very ego driven. I think the nuimbers were not to your liking and you cut and ran and left some of us 'holding the bag'

This isnt a ';war'. It isnt about 'sides'. There is no "my guy is the good guy and you are the bad side" type shit...

Calling out Art does not make me on Noorys side (I have no 'side') . I said it before, C2C sucks and I gave reasons why. I have lurked here 3 years and never joined because although I agreed with alot here I also thought there was some 'hate' for very unwarranted reasons and , yes, I would have "stood up for Noory" (which is odd...But true)

I dont see this as "us against them"- Sorry. I see this as a bitter man with an ego doing something for the wrong reasons and then quitting when he didnt "beat C2C" right out of the gate.

I wanted a good show not some stupid fucking war of egos.

I quit listening to C2C a long time ago. I dont "hate" George (although I make fun of him) I just hate what the show has become- But evidently there are people listening who enjoy it-

I can understand how you feel, and you are obviously disappointed.  It's OK to vent about it. There seems to be a trend on this forum to be suspicious of outsiders /newcomers and to call people "trolls", unless there is a kind of consensus.  Some ( like "Uncle Duke", for example) are just being silly and having some fun at your expense, but others mean it.  I think after listening to GabCast, last night, calling Art a"liar" may be a little extreme.  (Actually the guys on GabCast were more entertaining than most of the talk and entertainment shows on Sirius.)  You should  try to find the humor in what the others here are posting and just laugh it off...

I was going to sit this wave out, but since Salty mentioned me, I decided to clear up a couple points:

1) My "troll" comment was in jest, but it was not meant to be at Mr PenguiN's expense.  I was poking fun at the various posters who called me a troll for having posted the same sentiments as the bird's (I actually used the "perfect storm" analogy BEFORE Art came back on the air) previously.


2) A few days ago I made the point I can and do accept that others can look at the same scenario I look at and come to different conclusions based on life experiences, education, environment etc.  Doesn't mean I agree with them necessarily.  In Art's case, I honestly believe he believes the case he has built.  We all put outselves in the best light when we relate life events.  That's why I could say I never called him a "liar".  To me, a liar says something purposely knowing it's false. To my knowledge, he's not done that.  You can call "bullshit" on someone's take without calling them a liar.  I disagree with Art in his take on this whole sorry situation, for the reasons I've posted over the past couple weeks.  Some of my reasons were factual, others opinion or conjecture based on his history.  Someone called me "harsh", but I can live with that because, as I responded to that poster, that's the world I worked in for thirty-plus years.  To the point, maybe even terse on ocassion, but not personal.  And yes, I do like to mess with people, but in almost always jest. 

3)  Again recognizing human nature for what it is, I find it interesting to see how people, not just on this blog but in general, respond to similar circumstances but under different situations.  In particular here, when I used the same dispassionate, fact/reason based approach to take apart George and some of the goofy guests both he and Art had on the air, I received a number of laudatory comments.  (The guy who told the story of the F-14 pilot landing on the other worldly island comes most immediately to mind, but there were others.)  I used the exact same approach in looking at Art's situation, and suddenly I'm an idiot and a troll.  Why?  Because most of you agreed with me realtive to George and the goofy guests, but are so devoted to Art you can't be totally objective.  Not meant as a slam, rather an observation.  Despite what at least a few of you think, I love the guy too.  Best radio interviewer I ever heard, and I'm sorry, even angry he's off the air.  I do think he handled things poorly, and let his ego write a check his employer couldn't cash.  His bluff got called, and he/we lost.  I hope to hear him in some format again, but I don't think it will happen.  I think deep down he's accepted his inner Roberto (No mas, no mas) Duran, and I'm not sure I blame him at this point.  Sometimes it takes more than desire to get up off the mat.
