Art, why did you let Mr Noory win?? >:(

Funny you should say that. When I found out Art was coming back, the first thing I thought was that this would be the time he would stick around, and really want to turn the screws to CtC and Noory. Guess I was wrong. :(

Anything new develop since last night?

No really, there a post on artbell.com

We are sorry that Dark Matter on SiriusXM has come to an abrupt end. We'll examine our options and may be able to return in a different format and medium.

In the mean time, ArtBell.com will still operate as long as financially possible, hoping for a workable solution to bring Art back to you, soon. Keep checking back here often.

Seems like more stay tuned bs. Bell's non compete is 2 years. Also people seemed to have gotten over their shock and now are just angry.  Art wrote a couple emails to people pretty much saying his listener base was big enough to do a call in show.He blames Sirius for this because people did not want to sign up for something that didnt work.

Art Bell on the members list. Still there.

He's not hiding or trying to hide anywhere. Why should he? A bunch of raging interwebbers pissed off isn't going to scare him away.
He's waiting for you guys to take your chill pill first.

He quit a national radio show via Facebook and then deleted his Facebook page. If that's not middle school-level 'hiding', I don't know what is.

Once again; please don't lump me in with others, I understand that someone with your background deeply desires to categorize others into their respective castes, but really, I am not a part of that paradigm.

Also, I do not see how you could be demoralized, as--you clearly have no morals.

Yet another failed analysis Dr. Freud. For someone so perfect, you make a lot of mistakes when it comes to judging others.

You're talking about a million listeners minimum assuming Art goes for a year without freaking out and quitting. That is huge bandwidth: even if they streamed at a ridiculously small 8k a second. That's 800000 MEGABYTES a second required for a million listeners or requires an aggregate available bandwidth of 100000 megaBIT a second. Think of it requiring the equivalent of 5000 Comcast connections (roughly $500,000.00 a month).
Seriously. Thank you for supplying these numbers.

I am not sure why Art did not do the math before he came back from retirement... but he may not have been in a position to be capable of realizing that something like twenty-million people would like to listen to Art live now.

Dream on, kids, bandwidth isn't free.

I just come here for their biscuits and sauerkraut.  Bellgab makes the best, I tell you, the best!

I think that's hilarious.  Good on Dave.  He's had to eat a lot of turd burgers here, I won't begrudge him a quick victory lap.

Hah.  "King George."  I think I hear "Yankee Doodle" playing for us.  We lose.  We all lose.

Hopefully Art is back on the air soon. 68 pages of reaction to the news is testament to his influence.

You wish I would judge you. This is just discernment thus far.

Different format and medium? Why is he trying to get people's hopes up again?

Just my opinion, but he knew everything. He has lawyers, he's a smart man, he knew and explored the capabilities and procedures that Sirius offers.

I wonder if this is just conjecture:  "Bell is a radio icon, and will continue his show on the web."

I've been SiriusXM subscriber for 6 years - and no other high profile caller driven shows suffered from this alleged problem.   In my opinion, most of the troubles came from a much older listening audience who aren't very tech-savy, struggling to listen online with older computers and bad connections. That - and people looking to start trouble because they were mad Art was now a subscriber based service.

I think this has contributed to the problem.  The people who were pissed off that Art went to pay radio probably flooded his email box with messages.  That pressure may have just increased as these people tried the Sirius app under the free trial and found they were having a drop out or two (another excuse to flood Art's email box with messages to complain about "how awful" this pay service was, and why should they pay for something that didn't work properly, they were just going to drop it).  I rather doubt the "drop outs" were all that bad, but they served their purpose, even if it just happened to you twice:  to email Art and complain about the quality of the service, which they had not even started to pay for yet in many cases.  (It's too bad those people didn't figure out you could just go on getting endless free trials:  I got over being annoyed with Art being on "pay radio" after I figured out that, and I was also very much enjoying the 'on demand' feature).

Actually no, I don't wish that you would judge anyone. I just want what 99% of the forum would want, and that is for you to cease being such a sanctimonious, baiting, prick.

MegaFreak

Whelp, I have been defending Art since 1996. That ends today.

My sympathies to those who purchased subscriptions and or hardware to listen to Dark Matter.

I live in Las Vegas and have connections in Pahrump.

Anyone care to help me scrape together $300 or so?

For what you may ask MegaFreak?

May I suggest a large pile of horse manure dumped at the end of Mr. Bell's driveway to make up for this extreme HORSE SHIT of an excuse for walking out in the manner he has done.

Yeah, we've got one incompetent radio host who won't leave and a competent one who won't stay.

Haha. No hard feelings, but I can't bring myself to care what Mr. Bell does anymore. I'm through.

I haven't listened to C2CAM in weeks either, except for the Knapp shows. Life goes on.

???   datacenters don't pay for 5000 individual comcast connections, and streams to millions are done every day for far less.

But yours is quite appropriate, as in retarded, of low mental capability, just like your arguments and defense of an indefensible situation.

For Bell to be a radio icon, doesn't he have to be, you know, on the radio?

I too thought Art was going to educate those who didn't know how a real show should be done. But like clockwork, Art pulled a Bell again and they will never know.  >:(

Btw, speaking of your avatar... I have no problems with people with no teeth or anything. But it does remind me of a blind date I had once and she must have dropped something in my drink. As I had no memory of the next two weeks and I was found naked in an alley. So it kind of creeps me a little.  :-[

No, he went six weeks in, on a three year deal. He then demanded special treatment.  There is nothing reasonable about demanding a for profit company give away something for free.  If Art were being reasonable, he would have given Sirius enough time to address the tech issues.  And he would have been far less public about it.  Throwing a public hissy fit about your complaints with your employers is about as unreasonable as it gets.

The only ones being reasonable are Sirius.  Most companies would have fired his ass.

Maybe they didfire his ass, although I think he would have made that clear so he could play his favorite role of the victim.

Right... but ONE GUY doesn't do it for himself. Art Bell will not successfully stream privately. Will. Not. Happen.

Also, my post is written for non IT people. If you want to get really technical. I'll bury you!
