Not to speak for Bateman, but I think even though he was calling Art's show, he was still pranking Noory by what he was saying.   Kinda like the hilarious guy who called in that other time asking if the freezer-dwelling alien was stealing pizza rolls.  I love it, we get to listen to Art and tease Noory at the same time - it's a two-fer!

Bingo. I love how Art bit his tongue towards the end of the call too.. he was clearly holding back.

Someone needs to ask Art what he thought of streams like Fine Art. I've tried to get through to no avail.

When I called last night I was going to say to him how I love listening to his old shows as they are still relevant and I could not imagine listening to anyone elses 15+ year old broadcasts but I got the radio callers equivalent of writers block and I also got the impression from him that he doesn't really like his old broadcast that much as in to him its in the past and not relevant/current anymore.

I can just visualize this huge line of time travellers somewhere all waiting to call Art.
A fight breaks out because one guy says " I'm the REAL and ONLY time traveller and suddenly there's a riot where dozens, then hundreds, then thousands of time travellers all try to kill each other and afterwards thousands of alternate realities die and disappear forever.

Yeah and since they were in alternate reality timelines, there's no way to know for sure this didn't actually happen.  Our timeline may be the only one that survived the battle.   :o

I think that is a part of it.  By an almost "bitter" tone that I think I detected when he said he would not be acquiring the catalog I think there is something a little more personal.  I do not think he could stomach the thought of paying Premiere to get his old shows back.  I also know there were periods (after he sold coast) that you could tell it was no longer fun.  I was not in the least surprised the last time he retired because you could hear in his voice that he was "done" a few shows prior and the comments about call screeners etc..(the fact that I can still remember this says that it was quite noticeable at the time...)

I am sure if he could pick and choose there would be some that he liked and thinks are still relevant and that he enjoyed.  there would also be some (think the Y2K thing) that he would just as soon forget about and wish everybody else would forget about as well, and there would have been some that he would recognize as classic and still relevant... but he would actually have to pay a company he has a strong professional dislike for to get the rights...

I think we are going to have to be content with what Art is offering us in the present and listen to downloaded programs that we get ourselves.

Oh... and that was a great call.  It really would be hilarious if Art suddenly contacted you by PM and asked to spend a week this winter... 8)

Art's, or anyone's, preferences aren't always going to align exactly with the listeners/fans.

His reasons for not wanting PremRat to play the old shows are likely very valid, but they don't line up with the listeners preferences - which are to be able to hear them.

That's the way it goes sometimes.

if you upload your avatar again, its quality should be better and the image should be larger.

Yes that was yours truly and thank you. it's hard to gauge how well you did with Art because everything you want to say flies out the window the moment he says "Welcome to Dark Matter you are on the air".

Listening to the show now, just heard the Bateman call.  That was probably top ten of all the calls I have ever heard Art or any Coast host take.  Great job!   I'm assuming there's a prequel to this call directed at Noory?

Listening to these now...

Well, there is a Myspace account of all things... myspace.com/maryannerhinesmith2

The funniest parts to these calls is when you break character and start laughing.  ;D

Art sounded very fascinated he had a listener in Australia.
I kept expecting him to ask you how you were able to listen there since Sirius only officially supports the USA and Canada.
He didn't ask about a "pirate stream"  8)

I had an answer for that if he asked which is the truth. I don't listen to a pirate stream. I am a paid up subscriber with a fake us address.

I was relegated to the replay YET again so I listened to certain yewtube channels as usual.  When I heard the call from Australia I yelled out JAZMUNDA and woke up the whole bedroom.  Great call man you sounded fine and how you spoke about Art and his old shows, it was like hearing exactly how many of us here feel put into words.  You also managed a sarcastic noory dig...

god bless you jazmunda.

I noticed we got a few calls in last night but jaz was the only one I heard where I KNEW exactly who it was.  Good to see the site getting so much exposure.

god bless bellgab.

I predict art is going to start banning bellgabbers ..
And if I'm right I think I should be a guest so I can hawk the book I'm gonna write

Thanks. Those are nice, but I still like old original one best. I guess I'm just a sentimental sap. I'm still looking for a bigger version of mine. If I can't find it, I'll probably use one of those.

Remember this, when Netscape came out back....all those years ago...this file was a series of jpgs or a legitimate animated gif...I just don't remember, I do remember fucking with IE's but not netscapes so I just don't remember... Yeah this was the quickest idea i could come up with... I don't think they'll work for your avatar for some reason.  I did try to mimic the original as best as possible and started at 500x500 and worked my way down.

Tarbaby

Steelbot! I just saw your handle here and I wanted to tell you I heard your call the other day and I thought you were GREAT!

area51drone

Someone please respond - was Bateman's cat call a sequel to a Noory call he made?  If so, anyone know what date?

Juan

Yes.  I don't know the date.  Maxwell posted the call, maybe you can search through his posts.
