Thanks.   It seemed like this time Brendan was saying he saw the boy directly, rather than in the mirror.  It's curious that he left out that detail this time, especially since mirrors figure pretty heavily in a lot of paranormal stories.   Do you remember in the original story if the mortician told Brendan he'd embalmed a boy with a broken neck about a year earlier?   I don't remember that at all, but it was a long time ago.

I haven't listened to many of these over the years, as I get creeped out easily.  But honest question, how is everyone determining if these are fake or not?  How can one tell?

That part I don't remember but I'm sure they would have asked the mortician about the boy and I'm sure Art would have asked that question in the past. I just don't recall.

I was listening to the last 2010 GIS show on the streamlink feed, which aside from a few anomalies was a clean feed. And the audio was still more believable.

I've done some work in audio, and in my opinion the noise floor has everything to do with why these sound fake.

You can tell how far a sound source is from the microphone by comparing how loud the sound is versus the room noise on the tape. And when the sound source is so close to the mic, it sounds like a fake EVP, like its a person's head next to the microphone, as in this case.

In the older GIS recordings, the EVP's seemed to emerge from the noise floor itself, making them more believable and authentic feeling.
