Inside Higher Ed reported on Friday that Southern Illinois University was the latest to move in that direction, reportedly by limiting the workload of graduate assistants.
Other employers like UPS this week announced that they were planning to end coverage of workers' spouses in part over concern about ObamaCare-tied costs.

The people that work are going to have their health care insurance reduced or eliminated, and the companies that employ them are going to pay much more in costs and taxes, so that the people that won't get an education or work, and newly legalized illegal immigrants can get theirs from your doctor free instead of going to the county care facilities.

It's called wealth redistribution.  Who said Obama isn't a Marxist.

First off, if someone is sick they need treatment. Second, county health agencies are outdated at best. It is a very poor distribution of hours spent versus treatment received. Third, county agencies are more specifically set up to test and screen then refer to appropriate treating facilities. If you have been told otherwise you have been mislead.

The way it is now, children receive most of the treatment at county agencies. And medicaid has been attempting for more than a decade to revamp the treatment model. But as you would expect many mid level bureaucrats fight tooth and nail to maintain their positions in spite of better ways to offer medical services.

I work for a large agency. And I can tell you management is looking forward to the ACA for several reasons. One, they fully expect their insurance costs to drop and this is in a state that is refusing the medicaid assistance included in the ACA. Second, as much as many may dislike the plan, it will offer a much wider access to preventative health care. And that alone may well justify the law in itself.

Time will tell... as in all things political it's hard to trust either side... maybe it'll all work out... maybe it'll torpedo the whole system...

... I'm currently young and healthy... so I have a few years to see how healthcare shakes out before this becomes a huge priority... unless i get a job that offers healthcare i plan to just pay the penalty in 2014... if it is even enforced...

There are always going to be winners and losers whenever one of these schemes comes along.

Overall, it looks like it's going to be a health care disaster AND a fiscal disaster.

I assume, then, that it's a state agency rather than federal. I hope you'll post again in a few years and let us know if management's hopes play out.  I don't have the faith, but my mind can be changed.  Since the EPA banned the manufacture of my asthma medication (that kept my disease under control for 20-years), I have little positive faith in any large agency.

I will keep you informed. But we are a private company. And a large portion of our income is through medicaid.

I don't know how to break this to you: there are no meds; You're taking a placebo. But worry not..the diagnosis has been made by Ruteger, and to my almost certain knowledge he has no medical let alone psychiatric qualifications. Indeed, his ballpark is describing (among other despotic murderous lunatics) Stalin and Hitler as liberals... Both are well known for their obvious liberal leanings...That is if you read history books that have an opening sentence 'Once upon a time in la la land', and obviously Rutger's historical source.

Typical Liberal Facist response. What exactly is incorrect in my original post? FACT: People are losing working hours and their health care costs are going up thru the roof. Hussein PROMISED me that I could keep my doctor and my current insurance under HusseinCare. This was yet another LIE.

Your grasp of English is obviously limited:even after I posted in another thread the definition of liberal. That you belive liberal and fascist mean the same thing says more about your limited vocabulary than it does about the meaning of each word. Following your logic, there exists a canine bird, or a giant microbe. One can't be the other; If you're struggling, look in any English dictionary.

As for lying; Oh please! Name me one politician of note that has never lied, obfuscated or followed the party line rather than his/her own convictions. Have you just fallen out of the trees and discovered politics, finding that it isn't the fluffy sweet smelling edifice it promised? Many and oft, the incoming is curtailed by the previous and all those grandiose nuggets of gold that seemed so achievable are stymied by political, economic and social expediency..other times it's just plain crap. None are good.

If that's the case you need to seriously look at how English is taught. You can be a fascist, you can be liberal, you cannot be both. It's an oxymoron.

How many times do you need to be told that in politics - just as in law - words don't necessarily have the same meaning as they do in the dictionary?  Dang.  Politicians lie constantly, and part of the lie is to convince people they are something other than what they truly are.  There is nothing liberal about todays 'Liberals'.

I really wish it were possible for you to grasp and understand this concept.  I'm not sure what it is you aren't getting.

Thomas Jefferson was a true Liberal.  He didn't believe in Big Government solutions - just the opposite.  A person would have to know absolutely nothing about either Thomas Jefferson and the Founding Fathers or about todays 'Liberals' - or both - to not see the difference immediately.

As an aside, I suggest mdern 'Liberals' are quite different from the Leftists and the Libs aren't Fascists at all.  They believe in 'good government', the idea that if done right and with enough funding the government is best suited to solve our problems.  They are wrong of course, and have bought a little too much into the idea that Socialism works, although they don't call it that.

It's the Leftists who are the enemy within - they are the people that hate us, our culture, our history, our freedom, our system of government, and our system of trade.  They curse us, lie about us, and burn our flag at their rallies and try to tear up, burn, and destroy as much as they can at their demonstrations.  They scorn our Constitution and are always chipping away at it, trying to find ways to circumvent it and go around it.  Their leader is Barrack Obama.  These 'Progressives' often co-opt the Liberals and their ideas, and have convinced many Liberals to self identify as "Progressives', but the two are actually very different.

Just a few differences, other than hating us and everything about us:  The Left is not in favor of Unions - ask Lech Walesa, they aren't interested in minorities or human rights - ask the Tibetans, Uigers, nomadic herders in China or the old USSR, Georgians, Ukraines, Tatars, Kulaks, Jewish Refusniks, and everyone else they've slaughtered.  They aren't interested in the environment, education, health, the poor, peace, rule of law, any of it.  But they claim to be in order to gain support, and the easily led flock to them based on speeches and talk.

The Liberals on the other hand, do believe in all this, and work towards it.  They just have a little too much faith in Big Government, and are a little too easily convinced that our enemies just don't understand us and will come around if only we talk to them more.  They are also soft on crime, too easily persuaded to give out more handouts, and don't want to spend what is needed for the military - not evil, but not Jeffersonian either.

Right now the true liberals have almost no influence in the Democrat Party, certainly in DC.  They've been purged from elected and appointed office.  No one even seems to realize it.

Thank you for your patronising PB...I understand what liberal AND fascist mean...That you have a (or several) political factions bastardising and/or corrupting the word liberal isn't my concern.. I can grasp that; why can't you? Oh hang on I know. Because it suits you to overlook that, and therefore you don't need to think much. Argue political points all you like, but to have any credibility you need to start with establishing a commn language. That "words don't have the same meaning" is an incredibly stupid argument. If that's the case, why nt disregard any language and what the words mean? It would make gaining language degrees so much easier. ggfvgakg /geuyfuyfu  ee98fq  eo8fy q ;;translated from German means; I had two mugs of coffee this morning...It doesn't mean that to you of curse, because you don't read it like I and many others do.

Oh, the words DO have meaning in discussions involving modern politics.  Just not what's in your dictionary.  I've laid it out for you multiple times.

You just ignore it.

Let's use 'Liberal' as an example.  The sleight-of-hand it to first establish the word always means only what it says in the dictionary.  Nothing more nothing less.  The next step is to say the goals and tactics of the people using that term to identify themselves politically are the same as what is in the dictionary.  The next step is to walk around claiming to be the good enlightened ones who carry the true ideals of our Founding Fathers, continually repeat it, then hope enough people buy it.

I think this is called the Big Lie.  But thanks for playing.

Another example of this is as soon as Reagan was sworn in as President, the Media liars started referring to the Soviet Politburo members as 'Conservatives'.   There was ONLY one reason for this, ad it was to confuse a few easily led gullible people into thinking Reagan was the same as a Politburo member.

Rutger hasn't realized the Leftist/Progressives have co-opted and purged the Libs yet.  It wasn't  that long ago that the Leftists were much fewer and were hiding among the Libs (but often drove policy as they were the ones most committed) and the line was even less clear - people just referred to all of them as Libs, and some still do.

So before you get too smug, he has  better grasp of things than you do.

The purges came when Clinton lost the House - all the Leftists in their 'safe seats' held on, while many of the Liberals were replaced by Republicans.  This also happened with other House and Senate elections  along the way.  At some point the Leftist/Progressive caucuses in DC got the upper hand, and now they mostly only run Progressive candidates.  It happened slowly over a decade or so - and for some reason Big Media didn't do any reporting on it.

Yeah, course he does! He said Stalin,Hitler, Mao and Pol Pot were liberals. Presumably he'd have given a mention to Genghis Khan and Saddam Hussein if he'd thought to. If that is a "grasp" of things, I'd hate to hear the things he's not sure about.

You claim Obama, Stalin, Mao, etc are/were right-wingers.

So yeah, someone claiming they are liberals (and actually meant 'Progressives'/Leftists) is closer to reality than you are.

Stalin executed communists (did you know that?)...I've tried to educate you several times what communism iis and isn't, but you persist in hanging onto some deep ingrained misinformed (possibly helped by the very media you profess to despise) idea of what it is. Stalin was a fascist; someone who has murdered, people because of their religion or some wacka doodle paranoia isn't being 'social'.

You're perverse if you really believe Stalin was anything approaching a liberal. As such, your compass needs re-alignment. I suggest you take a good look at what....: oh why bother, you believe whatever shit you need to to make your world angry enough to hate.

Juan

Yorkie, it would appear that you live in a dictionary, not in the world.  Stalin seemed willing to execute everybody.  The story is that the Soviet leaders, including Khruschev, were outside Stalin's bedroom as he began to die.  All feared retribution if they entered the bedroom, so they did nothing until they were sure he was dead.  How are the people who call themselves Fascists, Nazis or Communists different in real life?

If the question is what is the difference between political ideologies, followers of an ideology and a political/economic theory. You probably already know the answer.

Where this discussion falls apart is the assumption that liberalism (the classic definition) is a foundation for mental illness.

Ruteger has no interest in discussion. He has a belief system that blames everything bad on simplistic assertions. Which can easily be proven with cherry picked data. I find his presence to be fraught with anger and frustration. There is never any conciliation or even recognition of data outside his premise. Mostly he sets a fire and runs away. That should tell everyone a great deal.

This is only a mild expansion of the views of The Frankfurt School.  While they concentrated on "right-wingers" they are the ones who injected into politics the idea that one who disagrees is mentally ill. I don't see Ruteger as much of a stretch beyond that - not necessarily correct, mind you - but voicing the same kind of complaint.

just because someone tries to identify themselves as being a member of a particular belief system, doesn't mean they actually belong in that category. If you dress up in white sheets and burn crosses at night your NAACP membership card doesn't mean jack...

CONSERVATISM IS AN EFFEMINATE HYSTERIA!

This is like when Papa John Schnatter "warned" us he may have to increase pizza prices by 15 cents a pie to cover costs of Obamacare.

Like the day to day swings in commodity prices at CBOT or NYMEX have no effect on pricing.
You want to see a real abuse of the American people?  Read your way through the rules of the CME on how much variance any given greedo can have on prices.  Any richie rich, with a few extra bucks to spare (thanks to tax dodges) can buy up oil, corn, pig bellies, etc for pennies on the dollar, (without having to take delivery) go on CNBC and scream about demand from BRIC (three of whom are now dealing with stalled economies) and spike up the price on Mr & Mrs average consumer.  (You know, the "takers"). That's the real crime.

And thanks for your irrational response.  This is why conservatives are losing ground in this country.  You have no perspective and are completely immersed in your own "self-interest".
The best part of this is that Obamacare, far from the single payer system liberals want, is about personal responsibility and open competition to offer the best health plan at the best price.
Meanwhile you go on hating your fellow human beings
