George's Contradictions

Mon 08.11 >>
Journalist and teacher, Frosty Wooldridge will discuss his work campaigning against illegal immigration and the ramifications of adding 100 million people to the U.S. population by 2035.

tweeeee...    Apologies if y'all have covered this ground before,  but I'm new here and it's gonna take a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG ass time to catch up.   I guess I'd like my little thread here to be for instances of where old Georgie Peorgie Puddin'n'Lies has contradicted himself.   A place to list various things he's contradicted or back pedaled or what have you.

I've only been half listening to him this evening - at the moment the guest,  Frosty Woolridge, seems to be focusing on general worldwide over population.  One of my favorite subjects.  ( seriously).

Now,  near as I can tell,  George seems to be agreeing that we got too damned many people scootin'  around here.

In the past, one of GN's biggest gripes or fears or...  obsessions ?,  maybe...   has been his perceived desire of this New World Order to reduce the world's population to 500,000 people.  Or something like that.  Not a whole bunch.

This is something that really, really bugs him - he's quite passionate about it.  When the C2C site has posted the NWO's  agenda or "honey do" list or whatever you call it,  or a guest has gone over it with him,  it seems to suggest that  this 'organization'  wants to limit peoples  procreation quota,  in order to slowly get the world population down to a number where we're not going to eat the planet alive & thus make humans and everything else here 'history'.

That's the way I understand it.

Now George seems to think that somehow they just want to kill everyone until it's just this handpicked half a million of "them" left here.

That's fine - I don't know how real any of this stuff is,  but Noory's dead against the Illuminati - or ANYBODY-  culling the herd in about the only option resembling a  humane fashion,  yet tonight he seems to be against overpopulation.    So.....   WTF ?  What the hell...  ggggrrrrrrrr....   I don't get it!!

Comments,  anyone ?!

Dixie Butcher

He seems somehow...  well, we all know he's dead against illegal immigrants,  and though I've not heard him come right out and say it  ( but I bet he has - I don't listen that often...),  George just wants America to be the America that he wants so that he's comfortable.   There are times when,  I swear,  it seems like he think that this Illuminati has personally targeted him and his family and just wants them gone.  He pretends to be this great advocate of the middle class and all of that,  but he doesn't give a rat's ass.  If he was a billionaire,  he'd be cussing about how people want the billionaires gone.   He always talks about worrying about the future of his family, but that rings so, so hollow.

If that were the case,  all his pissing and moaning about gas & hybrid vehicles and the environment and blah blah blah -  if that were true,  he'd be walking the walk.  But he doesn't walk.  He rides around in his bigass SUV when he's in St. Louis,  and around in his Mercedes  ( I think - it might be a BMW, but he has said it's one of the two...)  while in LA.

I shouldn't be posting,  I can't get my thoughts organized enough to put it all together the way I'd like- maybe somebody here can help me out ?

I had to shut it off. I could not stand to hear one more cliche that wasn't REALLY what the guest was saying, even i the guest is a bit whacked himself.

Time for bed.

i just listened to the frosty the clown show. is he called frosty because he wears a white gown and hat like a snowman?
the worst thing is George seems to agree with him on the overpopulation thing, but then maybe thats because he continually said "imaging if they added 100 people to the country?"
3 things that frosty said that would be different or are already different because of immigration:
1. You can no longer go skiing as much as before because of all the traffic
2. you cant go fishing because so many people are fishing - and apparently the fish dont stand a chance. did they before then?
3. that you have to pick up your dog poo more than before.

he also went on to say that people from third world countries come to america and dont have any money, but they do have televisions, and this pandora's box shows them things they want so they go out and steal it, because they dont know how to act in a civilised country, like in third world countries everybody does that anyway. that was really offensive i think and doesnt take into account all the white indiginous scum i grew up around, who still didnt know how to act around other people.
sometimes its almost as if george isnt listening, i mean i like the fact that he can have guests on and let them have their say for a couple of hours, and act with surprise when they say snowball earth or whatever but when its contradicting his own previously expressed views i think thats when the suck sets in.

As much as i think he can be opinionated at least Ian punnett has an opinion that makes you think he has thought about them outside of the studio. maybe george does too many hours to actually care, whereas Ian only has a day or so a week to research for.

i think the whole overpopulation thing is a real steamy load anyway.  the same people have been saying the same things about it for 40 years now.  i drive all over the united states, and the vast majority of what i see is unworked, UNpopulated, desolate land.  many of you have probably heard this before, but a few years ago i saw a statistic that said every human on the planet could be fit within the state of texas in families of four, each receiving 2 acres of land.  doesn't look very POPULATED to me... never mind OVERpopulated.

the first sign of "overpopulation" would probably be the inability to access food rather than the inability to access uninhabited land.  however, we don't even seem to be terribly concerned even about that since we've bought into this dopey ethanol scam which takes corn resources out of the food supply and puts them into our gas tanks, all the while driving up the price of ALL corn derivative products, causing rioting and even starvation in some countries.

danDNA

personally i think we are headed towards some kind of breakdown of society, but not for the reasons given by frosty the clown, but because the oil bubble may burst before we find real alternatives to oil. Don't get me wrong, I'm not seeing society completely falling apart but at least a return to simpler living, which isn't going to be a bad thing, seeing as most of the world lives like that anyway. the only ones who will suffer, and i mean this with no malice, are Westerners, and particularly resource hungry Americans.  I think this is what George is bothered about ultimately, that his lifestyle will change dramatically, along thankfully with that of the middle classes all over the world, as the rich will always be rich the poor poor, the middle classes are going to have to go one way or the other, and they would hate to think that they will have to go down to poor. but its really not that bad down here, as long as you don't aspire to be rich!

Yeah - but the issue is basic resources and arable land. now - I honestly don't know if we are over-populated YET - but the geometric increase in the population rise curve has got to stress our environment somehow. I guess we'll have to see how it all plays out.  BTW - historically - do you now what is the best predictor of population stabilization and even, in most cases, decrease? Education and opportunity for women. Keep in mind that it is the NATURE of opportunity for women that the standard of living for every one rises.  I suppose that's true of widened opportunity of all kinds. But the correlation of lowered birthrate and economic opportunities for women is quite specific.

What concerns me more is thing like the fact that Coca Cola (bottlers of Desani Designer Water) purchased right to a well in India that was the ONLY source of potable water for three miles around.   Now women and children walk those three miles with cisterns on their head to get water to drink.  _ okay - one well - one community - but this is a GROWING TREND.

Potable water is now being traded on the commodities exchange.

Access to drinkable water, breathable air, basic nutrition, shelter and education should be treated as a RIGHT (which is not the same thing as saying it should be given away - but making it unavailable with reasonable effort is WRONG WRONG WRONG) having to walk 6 miles for a day's supply of water in a world where every other basic necessity also requires hard, time consuming labor is NOT REASONABLE. It's greed - pure and simple.

Shoot me - I'm liberal.

loading gun, aiming and pointing. just kidding! liberals rule. although recently, i'm not really interested in politics anymore. liberal and otherwise.

despite the fact you are a tree hugging, flea-infested hippie liberal, i don't think your views here are liberal.  they seem like common sense.  this hits close to home for me, because until just recently, my wife's family in morocco (and by extension, MY family) had to acquire their water via this very method... bucket, fill, walk.  and it was NOT a pleasurable experience for them.  i, captain conservative, would be the FIRST to extend a hearty "fuck you" to any company with the audacity to do such a thing.  can you give me some specific details about this well you're talking about?

oh, and just kidding about the fleas and whatnot.

I've looked and looked.  Can't find it.  Apparently Coke has had a number of problem in India - and this one is  relatively old. Sorry.

Having to walk 6 miles for drinkable water is incentive to have children. The bucket is half full!

Oh God - Ian does WAY more than George does - first off, he does a weekday daily radio show with his wife.  Then he does all his eclesiastical stuff,  and then he reads nearly a book a day -and I don't mean a comic book, either - or the equivilent on the internet - on top of that.   And still finds time to go to movies and do shit with his wife and kids - as well as just by himself.  And he does his own yard work.   Can you imagine Noory mowing his lawn?

Just more liberal lies, whats new?!!?

So, Slipstream, you believe the Coca Cola site, but assume that other news is "liberal lies" ? Since I could not find the original - you may be correct - but I dubious about your source.

i will say this... coca cola's assertions are easily verified or refuted, and they know it. i'd be shocked if they were blatantly lying on their site for all to see.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm . . .  Not sure what to think on that one.

That link to the Coke site is just something coke has set up for PR. That case is pending.
Coke is just another multinational monster, it's a corporation. The goal of a corporation is to make money for their stockholders. Sure, they might appear to care about a small Indian village, or remedy some pesticide problem or whatever, but it will only ever be to protect their bottom line and avoid costly lawsuits and bad PR.
Coke has done plenty of damage, some of the worst in S. America. Anyway, there's info on the wiki about a lot of this. As far as corporations polluting or hoarding local water supplies in villages, doing business with Nazis, or any number of outrages... well the corporate ethic becomes glaringly obvious, business is business.
I don't drink it, it's unhealthy. Especially diet Coke which has aspartame which is one of Rumsfields babies. Arrgghhh, don't get me started, haha. I haven't outed myself on this forum:)

[edit] Water use
Environmental degradation in the form of depletion of the local ground water table due to the utilization of natural water resources by the company poses a serious threat to many communities.

In March 2004, local officials in Kerala shut down a $16 million Coke bottling plant blamed for a drastic decline in both quantity and quality of water available to local farmers and villagers.[22]

In April 2005, Kerala's highest court rejected water use claims, noting that wells there continued to dry up last summer, months after the local Coke plant stopped operating. Further, a scientific study requested by the court found that while the plant had "aggravated the water scarcity situation," the "most significant factor" was a lack of rainfall. Critics respond that Coke shouldn't be locating bottling plants in drought-stricken areas.[22]

The company has been trying to regain the plant's license, fighting a case that has gone all the way to India's Supreme Court.[22]

Meanwhile, near the holy city of Varanasi in northeastern India, a local water official blames a Coke plant ? which has been the scene of many protests by NGOs and local residents ? for polluting groundwater by releasing wastewater into surrounding land. A Coke official confirms there had been a drainage problem with treated wastewater several years ago but says the company built a long pipeline to correct it.[22]

Indian environmental activists Vandana Shiva has stated that it takes nine litres of clean water to manufacture a litre of Coke[27] though Coca-Cola says it is only an average of 3.12 litres. [8]

The case has been appealed and a decision is pending. Coca-Cola has set up a page to rebut these charges at this site.

Well EvB,  It was a little late for me when wrote that, and believe me I did write that part about "liberal lies" a bit more tongue and cheek than I made out.

Still, in this day and age of activism it really doesn't do a company much good to go into an area and plunder.  I can surely conceive that Coca-Cola hasn't done everything correctly, but this does not mean that Coca-Cola has acted maliciously against the people in the area.

They don't lie, they pay lawyers to "reword" the truth. Come on Michael, you know how it's done.
That case is unresolved and there are millions to be made while it is pending. This page is nothing more than a pending plea... you can say pretty much watever you want during a trial.

MV/Liberace!

time for some sanity.

the coca cola site has laid out a series of what they are purporting to be facts, and it seems to me that the natural reaction on the part of a number of the people involved in this conversation is to instinctively disbelieve them, case closed, because they're a big corporation.  after all, corporations are inherently evil entities out to destroy the world in the name of revenue.  everybody knows and believes this, right?

i am a capitalist.  i don't hate those who manage to build large fortunes, nor do i want to take what they have.  rather, i hope to become one of them.  i don't believe entities out to make money are inherently evil.  i say thank god for corporations.  without them, i wouldn't have a car, a computer, electricity, medicine, a majority of the food i eat, the clothing i want to wear, or the ability to fly.  i would be without a television, batteries, my nintendoDS, my watch, soap, or shampoo.

it was mentioned on this thread that even when corporations DO engage the community in a positive, beneficial way, it's ONLY because they're seeking good PR.  SO WHAT!!  when was the last time anybody did something nice for somebody and didn't care if the beneficiary thought highly of your decision to do it?  if corporations do bad things, people complain.  if they do good things, people complain.  how does one win in the midst of such rigged expectations?  it would seem the only acceptable solution is for them to close their doors and stop doing business altogether.  oh, but wait, then they'd be tarred and feathered for leaving so many employees out in the cold.  what to do, what to do...

i say again: coke's assertions are easily verified or discredited, as will be seen in court.  this is not an argument over how the pyramids were created.  additionally, quoting environmental activists in the course of explaining why the people at coca cola are a bunch of assholes is like quoting nazis with regard to the problems jews have "caused" for the world.  the minute i hear the word activist (of any variety), my eyes roll back in my head.  environmental activists, for the most part, are anti-capitalists who seek to railroad big business and industry by appealing to the emotions of an uneducated public who have been told their hairspray is going to melt the polar ice caps.  JEEE-HEEE-SUS!!

if the accusations against coca cola are true, then damn them to hell for what they've allegedly done.  however, if they're found in court to be in compliance with all applicable laws and standards of human decency in this case, i'd expect all of the people who are eagerly shouting for their heads to point out the circumstances of their vindication with equal enthusiasm.  we shall see.

i need a nicotine lozenge.

Quoteafter all, corporations are inherently evil entities out to destroy the world in the name of revenue.  everybody knows and believes this, right?

No - but we do live in a wold where Haliburton and Enron do what they do with no repercussions or nothing much more than a slap on the wrist unless people DO scream bloody murder - can you blame people for being suspicious?

Quotei say thank god for corporations.  without them, i wouldn't have a car, a computer, electricity, medicine, a majority of the food i eat, the clothing i want to wear, or the ability to fly.  i would be without a television, batteries, my nintendoDS, my watch, soap, or shampoo.

Fair enough.

Quoteit was mentioned on this thread that even when corporations DO engage the community in a positive, beneficial way, it's ONLY because they're seeking good PR.  SO WHAT!!

Amen - not one damned thing wrong with enlightened self-interest.

Here is where we differ.  What's good about the information economy? INFORMATION!  What's bad about the information economy? INFORMATION! It's not as easy as some pretend to tell true form false.  I agree that someone or some entity found innocent in court should not be punished - but that doesn't mean I always trust the court did the right thing - whatever their intent.

And now *I* am going to indulge in a CIGARETTE!    C'mon Fred, let's take a walk to the boozarama for some of Mommy's nasty bury sticks.

Yeah, I have said all I have to say on this topic. Except that Michael would probably enjoy Brian Dunnings podcast. And so do I.

I know we all have this is common, we think Noory sucks and are not shy to have a good laugh about something that annoys the fuck out of us. That's why I come here.
