Thanks for the link I hadn't heard of that site. And before anyone goes off the grant is from a private foundation not tax payer dollars.

Human beings have been obsessed with dying since they understood the concept. Now five million is going to... do what?

The home site had this banner:

QuoteThe Science, Philosophy, and Theology of Immortality

I bet they end up with a lot of philosophy (none new) and a whole frikken bunch of theology and very little science (again none new).

It is private funding so who cares? Well I don't know if I care all that much, I do know it annoys the fuck out of me when there are so many issues where that kind of funding would be very beneficial. Giving that kind of money so some preacher at some funeral in 6 months has some new superficial insight...

Maybe give a few people jobs.

I wish... prizes for essays... published essays at that. Funding for immortality research. and in 2015 a nice get together to praise everyone.

BTW MFM cool new avatar - is that comic book art? Reminds me of Steranko.

The avatar is by Robert Williams. Steranko is a very talented artist as well.

If people wanted immortality they should fund research into preventing the shortening/stability of chromatid's telomeres. This is too bad. All that money gone.

It is a nice picture... a bit off-topic (though it relates to the woman in your avatar picture), but I do like a well-turned calf and slim ankle on a woman....
