Hey all...it's been killing me to try and remember the sometimes host named Barbara ______?  Where is she? What happened to her? Why isn't she part of the show anymore?

Now THIS is interesting.  I went to see where GNS stood in Google tonight - and guess what came up BEFORE us?

Curiouser and curiouser.

MV/Liberace!

a lot of people complained about her, but i always liked her.

i also liked rollye james guest hosting c2c.

there is bad blood between james and c2c, apparently.  hence, her absence.

I always imagined Barbara Simpson looking like Lee Meriwether, circa 1966.

This is what men want.  We want the heels.  We want the form fitting black metallic suit.  We want the belt.  We want the clawed gloves.  We want the mask.

And by God, we want the cat ears.  And we wanted it all on Barbara Simpson when she hosted CTC.

Mate with me, you hellcat radio bitch!

Reowrrrrrrrrrrr

And then - what happens when you cross an automat possessed of a human mind and soul with a cat-woman broadcaster?

roylle james was pretty good.

I have been listening to Coast to Coast off and on since 98-99. I have been mostly 'off' it as it were with it.

I remember Barbara Simpson during 2003 thereabouts. I can't remember if I liked her or not. All I know is she completely disappeared. She showed up rarely to guest host.

And on her last appearance, at the end of the show she said something cryptic something like: Remember folks, be careful what you wish for. You might just get it.

Does anyone remember that? Or did I imagine it? Hmmm...

I seem to recall Simpson got tossed when Art Bell returned from his retirement after a year or two to start hosting a few Sundays, taking over Simpson's weekend slot. Ian continuned with Saturdays.
Art Bell would then reduce his hosting and then they got Knapp and other guest hosts.
Simpson was probably too much into politics for late night c2c anyway.

Yes, I first caught her when Iraq was first invaded. She had open calls that night that got fairly political. If I can remember right.

She has a political talk show in San Francisco Sat and Sun afternoons 4-7 on KSFO.  She always uses that as her sign-off.

I guess that hard-right politics was/is her radio raison d' etre, so "Coast" at that point wasn't quite ready for her.   But they just waited about 9 years and slipped another political hack in on us (Wells), though, in fairness --and believe me, I'm trying hard here -- Wells might be less political than Simpson.
I thought "good riddance" to her anyway.

I've been surprised that there's no mention on here of here.

I've never liked her either on KSFO or when she was on Coast, but she did do the show for 2 years.

Her voice was always sounded  like chalk on a blackboard to me.

stevesh

Her name comes up every now and then (search the forum for her name). Unlike many here, I liked her as a host, but then she was competing back in the day with Mike Siegel and Hilly Rose.

Juan

I thought she was OK when she started, by by the time sNoory took over, she was mailing it in more than Jorch.

MV/Liberace!

to clarify, this thread is comprised of 3 different barbara simpson threads.

Barbara Simpson was a good host for Coast......uhmmmm?????  Let's put her on the replacement list!

El Kragen

I thought she was a competent host but I rarely listened because she always had some woo woo airy fairy BS on. Well not always but most of the time. Now of course with Snoory at the helm that shit is on numerous times a week.

I just caught her interviewing Glenn Kimball, on a youtube capture of Coast 2 Coast and she sounded very good. Had never heard of her until now. Googled her picture, and she is quite attractive.
Too intimidating for the old Jorch?

Simpson was an excellent host.

Last week her daughter was arrested for beating her up

KSFO no longer broadcasts her weekend show, I'm not sure when that ended - sometime earlier this year.  I had no idea she is 77, I would have guessed 10 years younger than that

May 7 2014 : Barbara Simpson, conserv. Radio Talker FIRED from KSFO AM
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3153371/posts

If you listen to terrestrial radio, and live in the San Francisco Bay Area, north of San Jose, you most likely have heard of KSFO AM. Last weekend, the managers of that radio station decided to fire weekend talk host Barbara Simpson suddenly and for most listeners shocklingly. Barbara was affiliated with that station for over nineteen years, since it's inception as a conservative leaning radio station.

I didn't care for her as a C2C host, because most of her shows were about exotic illnesses.  C2C billed her as the "Queen of the Night," so we used to call her the "Princess of Pestilence" and the "Duchess of Disease."  Sorry to hear about her getting beaten up by her daughter, though. It sounds like she's a nasty piece of work.
