I am simply confused. A lot of people say Rome, and yes, Rome is full of people who are supposedly devoted to God. Yet on the other hand, Jerusalem, with seven hills, is home to the Jews. God's chosen people. Seems when He comes back judge His people after their city is destroyed that that would infact be Jerusalem instead of Rome?  :-\

As all Yorkshire folk will tell you; there are two sorts of people; those who are from Yorkshire, and those who wish they were. I'm not religious at all, but I can understand how those who are refer to it as gods own county. That being the case, I fear an asteroid hitting Prince of Wales road, bouncing up and coming back down on Eccleshall road, maybe as far as Hunters Bar...  :'(

And in round figures, what is the percentile probability of either colliding with the Earth? In round figures.

Round about O?

If one takes the below seriously, many of us may well be in deep, deep shit !

:-[

There's even more to this and all of it disturbing. I tend to lean towards an attack on the morning of Sukkot in 2013 which will be September 19th given the Arab/Muslim propensity for launching attacks on Jewish holy days. I've always believed that if Israel finds itself overwhelmed in an attack it WILL resort to the use of nukes, which would explain the war lasting only 3 hours.

I do believe in predictions if the predictor has a proven track record.

Unlike Ed Dames, who was right only once when he talked about tadpoles and frogs with mutations.

And VERY wrong when he talked about a terrorist attack on Shea Stadium during a baseball game.

That one stuck in my mind being that I'm a big baseball fan and speaking of which, Giants tickets for this season are now on sale, I'm sure the rest of the teams in baseball will soon follow.

Go Giants !

Go Bucs !

( Hopefully not to conflict with each other at the end of the season. I'm originally from Pittsburgh and remain forever hopeful of a rebirth of my beloved team. ).

I hope the A's will win too, but I've never been a fan of the American League.

DOES PETRUS ROMANUS YEAR 5773 WITNESS TO MARCH 25, 2013

In Tom Horn’s latest article linked here: http://www.newswithviews.com/Horn/thomas178.htm  in Chapters 11 and 12 he mentions a prophecy from the Jewish Zohar that contains commentary as well as interpretation from the Torah in which the “Vayera” Parsha includes “the coming of the Messiah” that gives the date for “his” appearance in the Hebraic calendar year 5773 that begins on September 17, 2012!

Since orthodox Jews look to a coming Messiah to reign on the earth, while rejecting Jesus as that one, many “Christians” are coming to an understanding of the much overlooked text of Revelation 12:10.

They are believing his “coming” is simultaneous with the “storm of the LORD” that brings Satan and his angels to earth over Passover 2013, that heralds the unveiling of antichrist whom he indwells some ‘fifty days’ later on May 10, 2013.

I believe that day or 1 Sivan 5773, is the day the “antichrist continues for 42 Hebraic months” that count out on October 2, 2016, or 29 Elul 5776.

That day also is five days before the ‘66th’ Shaboo’ot or ‘Feast of Weeks’ of Daniel 9:24-27’s “seventy shaboo’ot” that were determined” on November 29, 1947.

These 70 ‘Feasts of Weeks’ began their count in the Hebraic year 5708 that began on September 15, 1947!

In the linked articles we read that J. R. Church called Tom Horn a couple years back and showed him verse numbers  476â€"483 of the Vayera section of the Zohar that point out that “Jacob’s trouble”, Jeremiah 30:7 will commence according to this ancient text in the year 2012 when the “kings of the earth” gather in Rome.

I believe that a “papal conclave” whether in an emergency or scheduled could be called and could even be in session when the “at an instant sudden destruction” of the “storm of the LORD” occurs over Passover March 25, 2013?

At that time they very well could be killed by fiery flame of devouring fire from the sky, hail along with storm/tempest, great noise of thunder and lightning! Isaiah 28:2

Then a “final pope”, could assume authority as the “false prophet” during a time of great tribulation, Revelation 13:11-18

The article also states, “This ancient rabbinical dissertation claims that Rome will be destroyed sometime in the Jewish calendar year 5773, which, in our calendar begins with the new moon of September 17, 2012 and concludes on September 4, 2013”

This Rabbinical dissertation said, “In the year seventy-three [2012/2013] the kings of the world will assemble in the great city of Rome, and the Holy One will shower on them fire and hail and meteoric stones until they are all destroyed, with the exception of those who will not yet have arrived there.”

This could also be hinting at the destruction of the regional enemies of Israel in Psalm 83, where in verse 14 we read of a “tempest” that hints at the cause of their destruction!

I believe Mystery Babylon, the USA is included also because we see this same “storm” referred to in Isaiah 28:2 where we read in 28:22 that this “destruction covers the whole earth”.

The article says, “Notice that not all kings will be destroyed”, I believe these are of the “great company” of Gog of Ezekiel 38:4 that will come up against Israel some 3 years later at Passover 2016 and attempt to attack those “gathered out of the nations”.

It also says of those remaining: “These will commence anew to make other wars. From that time the Messiah will begin to declare himself, and around him there will be gathered many nations and many hosts from the uttermost ends of the earth.”

This is exactly what happens in Ezekiel 38:8-9. After many days you shall be visited: in the latter years you shall come into the land that is brought back from the sword, 9 and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but are brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them. 9 You shall ascend and come like a storm; you shall be like a cloud to cover the land, you and all your bands, and many people with thee.

That “sword” is the “storm of the LORD” used as the weapon of His indignation that sanctifies His name, Ezekiel 38:16 in front of the nations still making war against Him. While inside the confines of the wilderness, His remnant “live securely in unwalled villages with neither bars or gates” Ezekiel 38:10-11

We have been spreading this message since February 2010 and believe strongly Passover that March 25, 2013 is the fulfillment of Revelation 12:10 when our ‘advocate’ Yeshua, leaves his Fathers right hand because Satan, the accuser, has been cast out!

It will be at that time, he becomes the Messiah, the “great shepherd” of Hebrews 13:20 who will be that shepherd of the seed/branch of Jesse and David of Jeremiah 31:8-10 and Ezekiel 34:11-16. It will be he, who “will begin to declare himself”!

While outside the “wilderness walls” tribulation will reign for exactly 1290 days while Satan pours out his wrath on an unrepentant world. Revelation 12:14-17, Isaiah 11:10-16 and Ezekiel 20:33-38

Giving Him the glory, an Ezekiel 33:6 watching one REPENT, the Kingdom of God and the “authority of His Messiah” is at hand.

Rav Fish (Sod Hachashmal) on Gog uMagog
24 Tevet 5772

...The Vilna Gaon on the Mechilta (Shmos 14:20) and the Midrash Talpiyos (Gog) say, that the Gog U'Magog war shall begin three hours before "Hanetz Hachama" (crack of dawn) on Hoshana Rabba, and shall last three hours only.

This is why we say " הוֹשַׁעְנָא שָׁלֹש שָׁעוֹת " If we connect this to what the Zohar quoted above said that the war will be in the 73rd year of the century, it comes out that the war shall take place on Hoshana Rabba of 5773.

The date 773 equals "crack of dawn on Hoshana Rabba":
.תשע"ג בְּגִימַטְרִיָּא הָנֵץ הֹשַׁעְנָא רַבָּא

Hoshana Rabbah
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hoshana Rabbah

Official name    Aramaic: הוֹשַׁעְנָא רַבָּא
Also called    Translation: "The Great Supplication"
Observed by    Judaism and Jews
Type    Jewish
Significance    The culmination of Sukkot.
Date    21st day of Tishrei
Related to    Culmination of Sukkot (Tabernacles)

The seventh day of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, 21st day of Tishrei, is known as Hoshana Rabbah (Aramaic: הוֹשַׁעְנָא רַבָּא, "Great Hoshana/Supplication").

This day is marked by a special synagogue service, the Hoshana Rabbah, in which seven circuits are made by the worshippers with their lulav and etrog, while the congregation recites Hoshanot. It is customary for the scrolls of the Torah to be removed from the ark during this procession. In a few communities a shofar is sounded after each circuit.

It is written (Zechariah 14:16 and on), that the Gog U'magog war shall take place on Succos, and for that reason, the Goyim that shall survive the war will come to Yerushalayim every Succos, on the war's anniversary.

(See Radak and Metzudas David.) The "Tur" (Orach Chaim 500) writes that Techias Hameisim shall be in Nissan and the victory over Gog U'magog, in Tishrei. This is why the Haftara in Nissan is "the dry bones" and in Tishrei "on the day Gog comes". The Midrash (Tehillim 888) says "you shield my head on the day of weapons, Rabbi Yossi Bar Bon said this is Gog's weapon".

It is written (Zechariah 14:2) that during the Gog U'Magog war there will be an earthquake on Har Hazeisim (Mt. of olives) in Yerushalayim, and there shall be the victory upon Gog U'Magog.

Based on what we explained, that this will be on Hoshana Rabba, we understand the "Sefer Chassidim" which says: "Rav Hai Gaon used to go to Yerushalayim from Bavel every year on Succos, and surrounded Har Hazeisim seven times every Hoshana Rabba.

Many of the special Tefilos we recite on Hoshana Rabba are concerning the Geula, such as: .תִּתְּנֵנוּ לְשֵׁם וְלִתְהִלָּה וְכוּ'. קוֹל מְבַשֵּׂר מְבַשֵּׂר וְאוֹמֵר

The Arizal writes (Likutei Torah, Sh'mos) the words Gog U'Magog equal seventy, compared to the seventy nations.

Gog U'Magog shall control all of the seventy nations, and they will all gather against Yisrael.

When Am Yisroel will be redeemed, it shall be "Hoshana Rabba" (a great salvation). The verse (Tehillim 27:5) "he shall hide me in the Succah on the bad day" is the same letters as "Arava day" (refers to Hoshana Rabba): "כִּי יִצְפְּנֵנִי בְּסֻכֹּה בְּיוֹם רָעָה", אוֹתִיּוֹת יוֹם עֲרָבָה

Rabbi Eliyahu Buchbut Shlit"a commented that the U.S. war against El Kaida in Afghanistan, began on Hoshana Rabba.

This war is not over yet, and is still on low flame.

This might be the slow beginning of the major war, which shall develop between the Moslem countries in general, and the Christians, as we will discuss is the Gog U'Magog war.

The timing of the year 773, when Hashem's name will be greater forever, appears in the first and last letters of the holy words of Kaddish, describing that:

הָר"ת וְס"ת שֶׁל יְהֵא שְׁמֵיהּ רַבָּא מְבָרַךְ לְעָלַם וּלְעָלְמֵי עָלְמַיָּא יִתְבָּרַךְ עִם הַמִּלִּים וְהַכּוֹלֵל, בְּגִימַטְרִיָּא תשע"ג.

The Midrash (Yalkut Yeshaya 499) says, the year Melech Hamoshiach is revealed, the kings of all the nations will tease each other, and the Persian king will destroy the whole world. All the nations shall shout and be frightened and suffer pangs as labor pangs, and Yisroel shall be frightened and will ask: "where shall we go?"

Moshiach will then tell them:הִגִּיעַ זְמַן גְּאֻלַּתְכֶם
(the time has come for redemption).

The Gemara (Yuma 10A) says the Gog U'Magog war is between Persia and Rome, there's a Machlokes who shall win.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gog_and_Magog

Rabbi Zion Siboni Shlit"a said that Achmadinijad's name is the sum of the Hebrew letters of Islam, same as the letters Sama'el: אחמדיניג'אד בגימטריא אסלם, אותיות סמא"ל , to show that he leads all of the Moslems who are Yishmael, toward the Gog U'Magog war.

Reb Yonasan ben Uziel translated (Eichah 4:21, 22) that Persia shall cause all the trouble to Edom (Rome) in the end of the days.

The words Gog U'magog war including the letters, equal "Yishmaelim, Edomim": .מִלְחֶמֶת גּוֹג וּמָגוֹג עִם הָאוֹתִיּוֹת בְּגִימַטְרִיָּא יִשְׁמָעֵאלִים אֱדוֹמִים

The Zohar (Mishpatim 119B) interprets the verse that Boaz said to Ruth (Ruth 3:13) "I shall redeem you, lay until the morning" to mean the Keitz of the future redemption, as the morning refers to the Geula.

The Zohar Chadash (Ruth 107A) also quotes this verse and says it refers to the Geula Be'ita when Am Yisroel did not merit it but the time has come.

The "S'fas Emes" (Shavous, 5658) says similarly, "if he won't want to redeem you, lay till the morning, this is the Geula Be'ita". In addition, the words of this verse including the letters, equal 773:

."חַי הוי"ה שִׁכְבִי עַד הַבֹּקֶר" עם האותיות בגימטריא תשע"ג

The Midrash (Rus Rabba 7:1) says that Ruth laid for six hours, this suggests what we explained, that Boaz hinted about the six hours of the sixth millennium which shall be followed by the Geula.

That is why Boaz told her to lay for six hours, till the Geula's morning light is revealed.

[Rabbi Glazerson wrote that even the "Goyim" had a feeling that the year of 2012 will be the end of the world according to the Astrology.]

Psychotics can connect dots that aren't even dots.

al-Qaeda, Afghanistan, terrorism, can all be connected or they can be isolated events... or both sometimes or all of the times... take your pick. I can with a bit of paranoia connect them to the Fukushima nuclear crisis. Add a bit of whack-a-mole nuttery and I can get a tsunami into the mix. So why not add god?

I am skeptical of prophets even the ones that have a high percentage rate. In a conversation with god... really? Then why the fuck not get relevant answers to problems that are... umm what is the word... oh yeah... real?

Juan

But by allowing your beliefs to block speculation on this, you're missing a lot of fun.

That was Hitch's speculation in the other thread.  Some of this was brought up when he was being considered, so it's not really new.
Isn't there a big child molestation case in the US that's either about to be decided or that has just been decided?

As somebody whose local parish had no less than three documented diddling priests between the years 1987-93, I'd like to think that these scandals finally had an impact on Church capos, but I'm still not sure. The trail has lead directly to the Vatican for a long while. The sleazebag Cardinal Bernard Law who oversaw the coverups in Boston from 1984-2002 ended up being "punished" by being reassigned there.

I'm eternally proud of the fact that the main diddling priest banished young Coyle from being an altar boy in December, 1987. My offense? I complained about never getting assigned to what I termed "money masses"(weddings/funerals) the Randy Reverend said that I deeply offended him and would never get a money mass again. So I quit on the spot. That reverend, who was publicly named as a pedo in 2002(I knew in 1987) is now a chaplain in our fine Armed Forces.

My town is called "Vernon Hills," note the plural, so that must mean there are seven hills.

You are taking this prophecy shit too seriously, dude.  It's all based on the magical thinking of prophecies which become apparent ONLY after the event occurs.  Just like Nostradamus predicted Hitler and Bin Laden, but no one seemed to notice until after these characters became part of history.

Or like Ed Dames, "I predicted that....." after Columbine.

There was no doubt about these kids preferences, and while it was kept quiet at the time, some of us were well aware of what was going on. In fact, we(about 5 of us drinking in a schoolyard) watched him go into the rectory at 3am on a Saturday. We were shocked, then in hysterics. We waited for him to come back outside...but he never did! Finally, the kid's parents(who were big shots) apparently called somebody and the Reverend was on his way to being reassigned. This was 1989. The Reverend was replaced...by an even worse diddler, who used to "wrassle" with kids. This guy was brazen and targeted kids who weren't fruits.

Please, have some sympathy. It's so much harder for a pedo priest to wipe his ass on his supposedly sacred oath with his preferable partners in the military, which has so many, you know, adults. It was so much easier for him to use the power of the church and his own personal religious authority in slinging that spiritual guilt in manipulating mere children into gratifying his sexual deviance. So don't be a pedo hayta, playa.

I have to wonder if these guys think they can avoid spiritual consequences of their unspeakable abuses by a little confession white-wash in light of scripture like Luke 17:2 - "It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than he should offend one of these little ones."

I'm sure they're comfortable with their acts. Maybe the Jesuits gave them some sure-fire logic jujitsu to throw on Big J when their twisted hearts beat their last.

Banned from baseball, no luck getting into the hall of fame, no record of anything do with pedophiles but found guilty of tax evasion and did Federal time.  I figure becoming the next Pope is a small consolation, at least.

"Charlie Hustle"

Are we talking Pope material here or what?

While I have always opposed Pete's HOF induction, if Charlie Hustle's sins were the worst the Catholic Church had to worry about in its priestly class, today it wouldn't have been battered to the point all it can do is to simply try to hang on and survive.

I think some nasty information is about to become public. I think the Catholic Church will have a tough time surviving their complicity in what may be several hundred years of pedophilia. ....here is a link to some of the story:

A Pope that claims that he didn't know about the sexual abuse within his church?
The Pope rose up through the ranks of the church to his ultimate post .... and he claims he didn't know?
It's not like the Vatican posted the job, and the night shift manager at the 'Day & Night' applied and got it.
The Pope knew and was complicit ........

End of the church?  Maybe it's time to say goodbye ......

I've heard the theory that the next Pope will be the last one. That We will be entering Tribulation. I've heard predictions saying He will be called Peter of Rome

Look, I just post the stuff. I don't always believe it, but I do believe in something other than just coincidence or randomness.

As for the wiki entry on your town/city, wikipedia is not always correct. I was surprised to see so many cities being built on hills. Was that for defense in ancient times and it carried over to more recent times ? I would have thought more cities would have built near rivers, lakes etc.

And for those who believe in things as a matter of faith NOT engaging in critical thought, I think that's a crock.

There are all kinds of arguments for and against the existance of G*d. But even major scientists have said recently that they believe in a higher power or a G*d and that its all not just randomness. It's been 50 years since I read the arguments for G*d by St. Thomas Aquinas or I'd quote him. I've been on the net today since the Dorner story news broke. I'm bushed. - I did have a different perspective than a lot of people. My Mother is Jewish. My Dad was a Catholic. So I learned the Torah, the New Testament, catacism, some Hebrew ( I was terrible at it and know more German and Spanish ) and still know liturgical and other Latin. I enjoyed learning Latin. -  Dad dragged me to church. Mom dragged me to temple. I was confused as hell by it all when I was younger. But 2 nde experiences of my own and my seeing my Father's ghost and other paranormal things led me to believe that there is something AFTER this life and its not too far a step to believe in a creator of it all. If there's no creator and no heaven and hell, we all turn into something like soap or goo if you're not embalmed as happened to one of our cats who got run over. Without a creator, the purpose of life becomes something meaningless and we all are no better than ( presumably ) soulless animals. Though I do believe that our normal pets ( dogs, cats and maybe birds ) are put here for us as some kind of higher purpose. I draw the line at things like alligators ( which have been found locally at 2 drug dealers ), bugs, snakes and who knows what else.

I attended a seminary school for a year. I think the only thing you have proven is that people believe. We are all irrational at some level. And at varying degrees. All I can say with assurance is I don't know... same as you. I am not willing to stop learning and just say god did it. I am not willing to let some fanatics use arbitrary discretion to decide what is a sin and what isn't, today as opposed to yesterday. To add, I am against giving so much authority to anyone just because they have "faith" and use biblical vernacular.
