What Are Your Plans For Christmas?

Started by Jasmine, December 16, 2012, 07:27:02 AM

Jasmine

We have a full house this year, as our newest little member of the family makes this particular Christmas a very special one. On Christmas eve, we're having my in-laws over, and we'll be following their Italian tradition of an all seafood feast (lobster, shrimp, oysters, clams, sole, etc.). After dinner, we're all heading to a nearby Catholic church (my husband and I are long non-practicing Catholics) for midnight mass and to hear the beautiful choir and singers...the real reason he and I are attending.

Christmas day, my parents, my brother and his girlfriend come over for a huge breakfast, followed by gift exchanges. Our Christmas dinner is going to be quite the eclectic mix of traditional North American (turkey, stuffing, etc.) and some delicious Austrian and French dishes. Lots of food, fine wines, German ale, and hopefully not too much stress.

What are your plans?

McPhallus

That sounds like something right out of a Norman Rockwell painting!

Jasmine

Trust me, it may sound like Rockwell, but the reality of my crazy family (both sides) in action when they get together is representative of extreme juxtaposition.

No plans here.  Husband will be back in early January, but he's missing all the holidays this year.  :'(  I'll hunker down and try to avoid watching Rudolph and Frosty, because they still make me blubber like a baby.

E-Foods makes a pretty mean Christmas meal and since George says it's the best food he's ever tasted, thought we'd treat all the relatives this year.  Probably mix in a few Pizza Rolls on Christmas Eve - the microwave setting is on 'high' and eat them whole immediately right?

Have a nice belated Christmas celebration upon your husband's return, although I'm sure you already have that planned! Place a photo of Noory on your bedside table.

I love that old Walton's Christmas TV movie "The Homecoming".

The one line from "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" that my brother and I still quote (and in the same voice as the character): "I want to be a DENTIST!"

The General

Find some poor individual in desperate need of a free meal and some Christmas spirit, invite them over to the house to feed them and share the holiday with them, then hypnotize them to be my slave.  If they do not submit, they will join the others in the yard.

I have have a little stuffed Hermey.  My husband and I also do the "I want to be a dentist" line lol.  I have a whole box of stuffed characters from those classic Christmas shows.

elves do need dentists. Does Santa offer a good medical and dental care plan or is Santa subject to Obamacare??
I plan to have a good xmas and not listen to snoory.

"Join the others in the yard"...a yuletide version of Billy Mumy wishing all the nerve-wracking Christmas guests into the snow laden cornfield.

Pizza rolls? Hmmm...I'll serve those as appetizers. Come and get them! Nice and hot!

Imagine if the angel (with Hogland's face, or the face on Mars) placed upon the top of Noory's Christmas tree falls off and crashes to the floor...he'd tell listeners there was literally a fallen angel at his house.

Here's a great last minute stocking-stuffer that's on sale right now!

Merry Christmas  :)

I saw the same thing at Publix tonight but didn't have a camera.

Christmas is just another day for me. I celebrate by drinking mixed eggnog vodka which I like to call a Santa Russian.

Out of curiosity, I purchased a bag of pizza rolls for the first time a few nights ago. I sampled one...it was revolting. My husband and brother sat there and consumed the rest of them. Men can be culinary garbage disposals at times. Blech.

Perhaps I should have eaten them with a Santa Russian!

Pizza rolls are salt and lots of sugar from onions. Whats not to like?

They can be good, if cooked in a toaster oven. Then you bite the top off and pour some hot sauce into the receptacle. Used to eat that for breakfast every morning.

Ok that's it... I have to go food shopping tomorrow and instead of just getting the regular ingredients to feed my cheese and sauce addiction I'm going to purchase a moderate amount of these dangerous pizza rolls... pepperoni just like Jorch.

I'll post again afterwards from the hospital.

Heh, can be?

And that's not the only area where discernment can be lacking...

Jasmine

Well, I see this thread of tinsel and holly has devolved into pizza rolls and cheese and sauce addictions. You all do me proud.

As Christmas nears, what better way to get into the holiday spirit than to watch Catherine O'Hara as lewd singer and entertainer, Dusty Towne. John Candy makes a guest appearance as "Divine". This comedy sketch is from the old 1980's Canadian comedy show, SCTV.

You just described one of my ex boyfriends...that fat, sexy, carny slob. He worked the roller coaster, and let me tell ya, he took me for a ride!

Let`s see, I`m working Christmas Eve night, Christmas day AND Christmas night.

And just for fun, I`ll be working New Years eve AND ALL day New Years!

Ah yes, and with your adorable little daughter, Jasmine! You and your wife have excellent taste in names. She really is a cute little lass.

Here is SCTV's Lola Heatherton in her sensational Christmas Special "The Love Spirit". Poor Lola *sigh* yet again becomes emotionally undone while performing. Watch for Martin Short in this sketch as a dancer who is on the left of Lola.

I decided to bake these poisonous morsels... I just figured that I should prepare them in a way that would be most appealing to me... I use my broiler a lot, I make toast with the fucking thing instead of nuking shit... not cause i think nuking is particularly bad but because I like shit that's actually cooked... cant really say yet but I think pizza rolls are more yummy when prepared right.

This must be where you acquired your poor opinion of men.

Get together with loved ones and have a good time.  We plan to drink mulled wine.  Also, we made our own Irish Cream, so we'll be sampling that.

I've tried to upload a pic a couple of times but there's something wrong. I'll get his Nibs to check out my laptop and see where the bug is.

No. It was acquired at the International House of Pancakes...October 11, 1995.

Juan

After reading the Sex Wars thread, I was planning to go to Jasmine's house to peep in the window.  Then I decided it was too much trouble.  I'll stay at home.
