As if in response to Noory's resignation Art would immediately post "I'll have an important announcement in the morning."  Upon checking his FB page the following morning around 8 am Art's "announcement" turns out to be the fact that he changed the type of cat food he buys weekly with a tip about the benefits of buying in bulk.

No question for me it would be George Knapp. But I wonder if he wants it, although one would assume he would be offered a hell of a lot more money. I believe George has indicated in the past he has not pursued additional shows with C2C because his main employment is with his tv station. This tells me that Prem is paying peanuts to Knapp and Punnett. (I forget who Premiere's successor is now, so I just keep calling the bosses "Premiere". But am I correct that Premiere is no longer the owner of C2C?) I also wonder whether Ian's carpal tunnel problem is really what is going on with his near total absence from C2C.

But if Noory leaves and Knapp is in line to replace him, I assume Knapp would be offered a significant amount of money - much more than he earns at the tv job. (Unless he owns the TV station. Surely he doesn't, does he?)

Speaking of pay for hosting C2C or other such jobs, I know we had 2-3 folks here who worked in broadcasting-related jobs and knew something perhaps about how the talent is paid. Pardon me that I've forgotten who it was, and forgive me if I've asked this before, but could you give us an overview of how it works? I assume that there aren't too many straight-salary jobs in most local broadcasting jobs. I've always figured hosts of smallish stations would get a modest base salary, but in addition might be given a guaranteed minimum of advertising and/or appearance fees; plus they could significantly add to their take home pay by hustling up their own new ad clients. With bigger corporate outfits I'm sure there are stock options; and maybe with smaller groups some personal services contracts with the station owners are available.

Premiere was bought by Clear Channel Communications (aka Cheap Channel) at least 10-years ago. I think that Premiere is still some kind of subsidiary corporation.  See the Rollye James letter for why the purchase by Cheap Channel was actually a good thing for the show.

I know from personal experience that Cheap Channel pays only half-peanuts.

With regard to how local talent is paid, it varies, but it's becoming more and more common for them to be involved in sales in some manner.  Some actually buy the time on the station and go out and find their own sponsors.

As for networks, I think they still work on straight salary.  Someone like sNoory can't go out and get national advertising clients - he has to be at the studio to do the show, not flying around the country to call on clients.  That requires national advertising agencies or network employed national sales representatives.  I don't know for sure about appearance fees, but I'd suspect Cheap Channel gets a cut.
