I just don't understand how anyone could be so arrogant as to prejudge what a person's life would be like before they are born and use that as a pro-choice argument. That implies that rising above one's upbringing isn't possible. We've seen that before, it's called aristocracy and entitlement by birth and is all too common among the left. Such reasoning can only be uttered with someone suffering from a god complex.
It's called compassion.  It's doing unto others.  It's seeing a disaster waiting to happen and trying to avert it.

Most women want their children to be born into the best possible situation.  I know I would.  It is up to the woman whether or not she wants her life plans derailed by a pregnancy.  Many women are choosing not to have kids until later on.  How do you think that is happening?  Sure, they use birth control, but they are also having abortions when that fails.  Women are playing god only in as much they demand to have the same control over their lives that men take for granted in theirs.

A woman born in poor circumstances certainly has a longer haul to make something of her life than those born in the middle class.  It is imperative that they have the choice to abort.  To deny her that right is condemning most of them and their children to a sub optimal existence.  No one has that right.

If only Bobo's mother had aborted.  There would be one more happy horse in the stable.

You were born into a sub optimal existence. Should you have been aborted?

Call it a choice, call it settled law. Abortion is not a right.

Call it a choice, call it settled law. Abortion is not a right.
Abortions have always been a choice for women.  If you outlawed it, the wealthy would still have it available to them.  You'd be punishing the poor, who are already suffering enough.  We complain about crime and poverty and yet would take measures to allow those in such a situation to pull themselves out of it.

That's the opposite of compassion.  That is stomping on the poor and doing what you can to keep them there.

Sure, if my parents were both working hard to purchase their first home away from the slums, why should they not abort me?  And, through love of them, I would encourage such a thing.

If the choice is between the fetus or a fully developed and educated woman, the woman will always win in my book.  He life and her hopes and wishes for her own future take predominance.

I decree that a woman has that right, concerning her own body.  If men became pregnant abortion would be no issue.  Think about that.  Most men, if they look at their pasts, and a woman at a crucial time in their life told them they were pregnant, would be more than happy to abort the kid rather than paying for it for 18 or so years.

Believe me, if there were a reversible sterilization operation for women, many would be getting it early on and just reversing it after marriage.  People like to plan their lives.  They don't like surprises, especially the sort that will obligate your time and efforts and money for decades.

A life of abuse and neglect and being raised by street culture is worse than not having been born in the first place.
I am not really for or against... But that is quite the statement and judgement to make.  I think you ought to head into an inner city housing project and preach it to the youth.  Tell them how worthless their lives are.

***I suppose having had contact with a number of mentally challenged people in my life has made me wary of those who would presume to judge the value of another life using their own standards...

If men had babies, legal, free abortion would have been a settled issue more than a hundred years ago.

Bobo, DO NOT let the PREAKNESS STAKES cause you a relapse and a visit to Greasey. The MEETING is the most important thing, not equines.

I've had more fun (and success) in hunt races* and the race itself is more exciting but still like the major ones. Preakness is a muddy mess today. Will be interesting. Jockeys won't be able to see anything!
* I paid for my ticket to London once on the Grand National winner! It was awesome feeling. I see how gambling can be addictive, luckily I'm risk-adverse and don't like it.

Good win by Exaggerator!!

It's my love of Horses that draw me to such events.  If you like hunt races, Albrecht, you'd enjoy 3 Day Eventing.  Each day is a different event.  Dressage, show jumping, and cross country jumping.  Cross country is the most exciting and the most dangerous.

Surprisingly enough, pregnancies aren't something that just 'happens', or that strike randomly.  They are quite easily preventable for those not wishing one.

Oh, it's true.  Does that factor in anywhere?

Depends on the odds.  If a filly is pregnant, she won't be in the triple crown. ;D

Wow, that sounds like a tough event for the horse and rider considering the different types of contests!

I should have mentioned that different horses are used for the different events.  The disciplines of dressage are very different from the disciplines of cross country, for example.
