I can't believe people are still bitching about Art. The guy came on Gabcast did a great show with MV apologized to his fans admitted he made a mistake in the way he left. What more could you possibly want from him? If you really think he is a lying about everything and that he is a shitty person why do you even bother to come here? People are either bitching or commenting about Art in spite of his apology and admission of making a mistake. That's true. But the reason is that both his apology and admission were extremely limited. They only extended as far as his announcement of hanging it up and never going back on air. As for the rest, he is still giving us a line of BS and doing it unapologetically.

Specifically, he continues to defend his choice of Heather, his judgement that she is doing a great job, and the overall quality of the show since he left. In fact, he is adamant about these things and upset with anyone who questions his judgement or decision-making skills in this case. He labels them as unfair, unreasonable people, if not outright trolls. These are, BTW, many of the same people whose judgement he endorsed when they bashed Noory.

Also, if you want to know why people keep on saying what they're saying, look no further than the fact that Heather is still on the air with no plans to leave anytime soon. Meanwhile, Art is continually singing her praises. People hear BS and they respond. It's as simple as that. Besides which, this is the Art Bell thread on BellGab. Do you really think people will not chat about this stuff when the principals keep throwing fresh meat at them?

The numbers analysis in your previous post is sound and I like the diving sub metaphor for losing subs every month, but something's missing. In this scenario, somebody would be desperately trying to save the subs and the submarine. You can certainly argue that Art's latest appearance was an attempt to do just that. But it was a very limited, very modest attempt. And without this missing element, the scenario doesn't quite hold water (continuing the metaphor).

I say this because Art's entire argument to us was that Heather is worthy and her critics not only don't appreciate her but are being unfair in their judgement of her and the show. Instead of acknowledging the problems and the need for changes, he left it at a vague "She needs to make the show her own," whatever that means. None of those involved really have a clue on how to do this, I think. The proposed solution was for all of us critics to have a heart or just think different (and hopefully, subscribe).

So the forward torpedo room is flooding, they're rapidly losing depth, and the captain and crew are standing around expounding on how the whole thing isn't fair. Nobody's running around wrenching on anything. That's unusual for a dying radio or TV show. Try thinking of one that didn't make very audible or visual changes in an attempt to stave off disaster.

Now, one could just explain the lack of action by saying there's confusion and nobody knows what to do. That works to a point. But eventually, panic sets in and you start to see evidence of the panic. And I think we haven't gotten to that point yet, but we probably will.

Does the captain (whoever that is) finally blow his last bit of air attempting to surface, does the exec forcibly take over command and start giving orders, does the sub implode before anyone actually makes a move? Stay tuned. It's a human drama as much as a disaster movie.

Or he's really stupid enough to believe she isn't a complete failure. Yet he still humbled himself and made himself look ridiculous on the GabCast. The only reason has to be the sub numbers and the intense backlash.

All they amount to is a left-handed way to acknowledge that there's an ongoing problem with the chosen host. Wait for the depth gauge to get further into the red and then see what happens.

I happen to think Art is still on board, in one way or another, and not just for Heather -- whatever that relationship is about. This fiasco is threatening to drag down his legacy to a degree and he doesn't like that one bit.

That is a true statement. There are a lot of subscribers and listeners that are not members of BellGab.

Keith doesn't have deep pockets. Art said he is not contributing. Subscriptions are carrying the show since ad revenue is down.

Only time will tell. I hope it succeeds.
