Ding ding ding, this where my mind was going. I was wondering if there would be possibly some flukey insurance thing if Art's life was in danger which seemed like a major long shot. Or if they were intentionally trying to destroy the show for some other gain. Who would Art be breaking contracts with? I don't think Keith/DMDN owns him otherwise all the insane decisions probably would have been handled better.

I know this is probably complete crap and it's just people setting fire to their news toys out of whatever psychosis is going on. But you can't help but try to mentally work these things out.

They are trying to sabotage the network because Hoagie controls it for his NASA/NSA paymasters. Vera explained this.

I have always attempted not to set fire to my toys... But then again, I also would not stand by as my station implodes.  Everybody gets off on different things.

The only thing that I can see would be contracts with the stations who signed on.  Art provided them re-runs for the 30 days... Was there some clause that guaranteed fresh content (hence continuing with MITD and Red) for an unspecified period of time? If so, would a station lawyer getting almost free programming late night possibly say that it would be a breach of contract to only provide 30 original shows and 30 re-runs since they signed the contract (new affiliates coming on almost every week right to the end.)  Suddenly you have them saying that after spending the $$$ promoting MITD on their terrestrial radio station with ___ time slots at $___ that DMRN owes them $(way too much.)

Now they have to produce a show with new material to send out to these stations until they can show it is a financial hardship (or whatever legal term they would use...)  Again- just speculation.  But I cannot see that any of this is heading in the direction they would want- yet they continue on.

It's interesting to go back and listen to excerpts after learning of her breakdown before open lines, begging bateman to take over the show.

During Heather's dreadful David Bowie tribute Monday night, after playing Space Oddity:

The woes of anti-feminism is such a cop-out in this case. What's more believable, (redacted), that you're being attacked because you're a woman or because you took the hot seat without a lick of radio experience and it's apparent to everyone? No one in their right mind would hitch their wagon to Keith's network or host MITD, which is damaged goods at this point, yet you're surprised when bateman backed out? The entire situation is toxic and there's no one to blame except Art and his "lean, mean team."

It seemed to me like the implication was that someone "in charge" told her to find a male replacement. 

So while this was all coming to a head, Art posts a picture from the Bellagio and starts going off about trolls on FB. A vast majority of the callers on Friday were calling from Vegas as Art was logged into Bellgab (because surely there isn't anything better to do in Las Vegas).  I have no idea what it all means and I am not privy to the same inside baseball others around here are but something seems beyond bizarre about all this (obviously) and the civil wars popping up all of the sudden.

Selling Heather would have been an extremely hard sell and the thanks he gets for admirably selling for Art and then trying to salvage the sinking ship by bringing in a capable host that he can sell is to get fired. Isn't this Keith's network? Where are his balls? Shouldn't he be doing the hiring and firing. I guess Keith just wants this all to end too. Who can blame him. This venture is all but toast.

I think Bateman (or maybe 6 week tenure - apologises if incorrect sourcing) mentioned that Pete was fired by Heather for looking for other talent to fill the role (possibly Bateman). I may be misremembering.

Pete was the guy responsible for selling the ads on MITD. An impossible task since HW took over.

By the way, I don't think there are enough posts containing random uses of the word 'vagina' since the glory days of the Bella Haven thread, before Brig mounted a coup and threatened with excommunication anyone who didn't use 'cocksucker' instead. I can't remember the precise details, but I think it involved a fist fight with nbirnes in a deserted quarry somewhere. That's normally Brig's preferred way of settling arguments, of course.

Plan?  There is no plan.  Art yanked the rug out from under everyone involved with the show, doesn't know if he wants to retire or come back to do periodic random shows, and is stringing Keith and (Redacted) along, with them hoping he'll return. 

They have no real choice other than to believe his phony stalker story, and he is dumbfounded by how badly that went..

Let me be the third to chime in. That post rubbed me the wrong way as well. I hate it when someone plays the victim card, whether it be the race card or the female card. Usually, the issue has nothing to do with race or gender, but people don't like to take responsibility for their actions or behaviors. That's not to say that there isn't racism or sexism in the world, of course there is. There are times when you're going to have to be better and brighter to get ahead in a man's world or in White society, so you do what you need to do to get ahead. Not cry about being a victim.

And PBS, you are right that it does nothing for us women or for Feminism, a word which only means equality. I think the word and it's meaning have gotten twisted over the years. We women have to rise to the occasion and not act so helpless or like victims if we expect to get respect or expect to be treated as equals. I'll get off my soapbox now.
