Ted Gunderson obviously had a reason to dislike Art. Gunderson had a history of making things up. As far as I am concerned anything that Gunderson said should be taken with a huge grain of salt. I really have no idea why someone thinks this issue would even be relevant in 2015.

You do understand that Gunderson only told part of the story about the appeal?  The court ordered a retrial, and the teacher was convicted. He is still in prison and you can google his name and find that he has filed several appeals, several writs, and he is still in prison for the crime he committed.

Even though Gunderson says he didn't sign the confidentiality agreement, Maybe, just maybe, Art Bell is bound by the fact that he did have to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Why does any of this matter? In the scope it doesnt. Art quit, lets take him at his word, nothing to discuss, close the forum.

Because the main debate seems to be "was there a stalker or not"- I think there was not. others think there was. This  becomes relevant in showing Art will lie to his audience about things which make no sense to lie about, for whatever reason I can only speculate.

Truth is- None of this matters. Art will be gone from radio and retire and we will all go on to whatever we go on to. It was only brought up to show a discrepancy with what Art said and what the documents say and how they dont match.  I wasnt bringing this up to make light of a terrible event .

Celebrity and being a public figure has pros and cons. Art is the one who chose to make this public with his version- this wasnt just dragged out of nowhere- he talked about his version on his show to his fans. You cannot have it both ways, bring something up but then anyone who questions your events (when there are documents contrary to the events you made public) is a terrible person for even bringing it up.

Was the crime Kidnapping and rape? Thats the entire point. Art says yes, gunderson says no. Ginderson made a video and showed the documents he claims are real and Art does nothing to sue him leaving me to believe gunderson.

I'm really only here to talk about Art's (and Heather's) shows and to see Art's (and Heather's) posts.  Now that both have stopped posting here, I'm thinking I'm going to go see what other MITD forums are available.  I think Art shouldn't stop posting but should just find a new place to do it and I think Heather can help him find that place.

I've been a member here for several years and a lurker for years before that.  But now nothing new is being said here.  Without Art posting here, this site will be back to the pre-dark matter traffic levels in a matter of months.  Back to the days where the Art Bell thread had maybe 2 pages per day added.  Even Heather doesn't post here anymore because of how shit this site has become.  Without Art/Heather etc, this site has become nearly valueless, at least to me. 

It's not at all that I'm bothered by or afraid of what this fool has to say, it's that his bullshit (and a few others) have significantly altered the landscape of this site and the reasons I came here are pretty much gone at this point.  I'm sure this happens at every forum that changes and devolves eventually.  I guess I'm just not the 'target audience' for this site anymore, which is fine I guess.  Like I said, whatever I found in bellgab I can find elsewhere.

An objective observation: I don't condone the unnecessary digging up of AB's son's past to be used against him even if it is in the public domain, but I have noted a paradox, if I may;

Several posters including myself have outlined how and why they believe the 'stalker' story has no foundation, not least of all because AB's behaviour about it is completely at odds with the display of 'terror' he and his family have endured. Add in the apparent indifference of the local police and press and it makes it appear either over reaction and embellishment of something mundane (possibly even an ND of a firearm) at best, or totally fabricated to explain his desire to no longer broadcast-which needs no further explanation other than 'I quit because I want to, deal with it'

But what has made this more intriguing is the quite angry response to penguin's postings. It was barely contained primal rage- which I can understand (the fact it's public knowledge is immaterial).

Why no rage at the police for not taking him seriously? Why no pleas for assistance in tracking his alleged stalker? Why no reports from the neighbour who started the ball rolling?

Anyone else think it a strange dichotomy?

YP, the main problem is that the police are a reactionary force and investigate incidents.  If they don't find anything after an initial search they can't and won't spend further time on an incident.  Back in my younger and dumber days I befriended someone at an apartment complex that everyone else avoided.  At first everything seemed alright.  Then that person started accusing me of stealing their mail.  When I came home with a new television this person told me I got the tv because I stole a job from them.  At that point I realized why people avoided that person.  The final straw came when they knocked on my apartment door while holding a golf club demanding entrance to my apartment.  I decided it was time to visit the local PD.  They were sympathetic and told me I was not the only one having issues with the person.  Unfortunately there was nothing they could do because no attacks had happened.  They advised me to be watchful and call them if I was attacked.  For this reason alone I don't find the fact that the AB police report said the case is closed barring further evidence.

I think that is a tale a lot of people can say after reporting an incident to the police. And I think most cops are as frustrated as the person reporting the incident. In the past I was burgled. Fortunately they didn't get in the house, but we had a under house (accessed from outside-not that common in England) basement where we kept all the gardening stuff/tools etc. We had about three or four hundred quids worth of stuff taken, we thought it had been done when we'd gone out for the day, and as the property was fairly secluded from the streets (Corner property), whoever did it, had cover and time until presumably they waited for a time to load into a van outside. I only realised it had happened maybe two days later when I went around to the basement to get something and the lock had been broken off and the door smashed wide open (opposite side of the house to the entrance door).

The police came around, took an approximate itinerary of the things I could remember being taken, and I set to work making a new door, reinforced with metal plates and throw bolts in the lock. A self contained alarm system to the basement, security lights and IR sensors. CCTV back then was very expensive so that wasn't an option. The thing is, the police said they had an idea who had done it, as a few houses in the area had also been broken into. They knew why (drugs money) and they knew where to find him. But they couldn't arrest him because they couldn't pin anything on him, because the bastard obviously didn't keep the stuff for long before selling it on. The police obviously didn't tell me who they thought it was, as they never do.

The police came back to us a few months later to announce they'd managed to arrest the junkie, although of course he didn't have our stuff, and his sentence could only be meted out on what they found on him. But they checked over my security handiwork (as I asked them to) and appeared impressed considering I'm no expert at such things.

Thing is, the police were only too happy to take statements and reports from us, and even knocked on local doors on the off chance that a neighbour might have seen something, however seemingly ordinary.

Heather hasn't posted for ages. And even when she was around, I don't think she added all that much, and it was all rather bland for a long time. It all started to feel self-conscious, as though she always had one eye on her reputation and didn't want to fuck it up. Art hardly posted at all when he did his show, and only really came on when he was trying to promote stuff, or stir things up. I don't think there were many occasions he posted when it looked like he was just there to hang out - it usually had an ulterior motive or a manipulative air to it all. If the only reason people post here is because they might get the occasional fondling from the lord and master...well, I shall leave it to form your own conclusions there.

It's perfectly possible to simply stop posting on a forum, you don't need to make a five-act opera about it! Some people can't do anything without departing in a flurry of talcum powder - I guess that's one thing they have in common with their hero. It's the people who contribute to a forum on a regular basis who make it worthwhile, not some minor celeb who pops on from time to time. You don't have to be here if you don't want to, but a good way to make somewhere better is to make an actual contribution, rather than grouse about shit and then bugger off complaining.

Seriously you guys are too melodramatic. However, I dont want everyone rage quitting a forum because of the penguin although it is nice to see I yield such power. Honestly though, You guys quit too easy- trying to emulate Art? he'd be proud. Dont quit the forum dude. I'll barely be here and pretty soon I wont be here at all. Like I said, war is on the horizen and my services are needed elsewhere later this week. You wont have the penguin to kick around anymore =P

Taking a day off work today for medical reasons, so I disabled the blocker for a while.

My doctor started me on some new pills for my ADHD, and I took the first dose last night. 

Woke up this morning and I'd had a really bad reaction to the meds. 

So instead of going to the office, I'm headed to CVS to get a bunch of Bikini Area Nair.

Heather hasn't posted for ages. And even when she was around, I don't think she added all that much, and it was all rather bland for a long time. It all started to feel self-conscious, as though she always had one eye on her reputation and didn't want to fuck it up. Art hardly posted at all when he did his show, and only really came on when he was trying to promote stuff, or stir things up. I don't think there were many occasions he posted when it looked like he was just there to hang out - it usually had an ulterior motive or a manipulative air to it all. If the only reason people post here is because they might get the occasional fondling from the lord and master...well, I shall leave it to form your own conclusions there.

It's perfectly possible to simply stop posting on a forum, you don't need to make a five-act opera about it! Some people can't do anything without departing in a flurry of talcum powder - I guess that's one thing they have in common with their hero. It's the people who contribute to a forum on a regular basis who make it worthwhile, not some minor celeb who pops on from time to time. You don't have to be here if you don't want to, but a good way to make somewhere better is to make an actual contribution, rather than grouse about shit and then bugger off complaining.
