Hey Art, I am a neighbor (red rock dr) in pahrump.  Occasionally I light off firecrackers and target practice on the BLM (like everybody else here).  If I turn myself in, can I collect the $20k?

not funny

This is old news, yes Art has a terrible history, yet people still listen every time he comes back to broadcast.
Maybe you are a new listener and didn't know these facts, but all the old time listeners have been through this for years.

I've been through every dang one of them. And each one was more odd than the last.

Trying to explain away his track record is a fools errand. Perception is reality. The fact is Art is a serial quitter.

I think he has one or two more in him  ;D
Sure, we are all sick of it, but people still listen and he knows it

He came back and retired again in the last five minutes, happened so fast nobody noticed.

It's definitely shit, I was just lol'ing at that picture of him.

Same point as laughing at the picture of the Syrian toddler (the so-called "refugees") laying face down, drowned on that beach in Turkey. It's not the dead kid so much as the situation that allowed it, no matter the circumstances.

You have a different sense of humor then most of us, I reckon.

Wow. I joined here because I was so happy Art Bell was back on the air and I'd have something to listen to besides the bullshit spouted by the political crowd at night
Now Art's gone and everyone is pissed off. What the hell has happened?

I can't tell if Art's problem with the stalker ,real or imagined is the reason he's not on anymore but he's not and that sucks.
I've listened to Heather and it's fine, again better than the alternative I have available. I think I was hoping everything would be like it was back in the day but it's not going to be.
This forum is really humorous-at times ;D
Hope this all turns out well for Art, Heather, Keith and all us fans.
Well ART quit.  (again)  And everyone is pissed.  (again)

Why can't the Nye County Sheriff send Barney over to keep an eye on Art's place during a broadcast?  I know Thelma Lou wants some late night company but come on.
The easy answer is that they don't have the funds for that. But I'm betting Art paid a LOT of taxes in Nye county. Enough to pay a couple deputies at least. Nye county is going to miss their cash cow.

Allow me to answer you all,

you're all screwed! Now get off of my lawn, give me my metamucil, and make sure to turn my stories on before you leave.  ;D

And stop trying to get a cut of my vast estate. I know all of you want to move out of your Mom's basement, but I assure you that you would only be moving into a different basement if I named you as a possible heir.

Does your basement have heat?

It's true that not everything you read on the internet is true.

However, no one is discussing "everything you read on the internet."

Instead, the poster brought up an article in a reputable magazine that quotes Art's kids at length about how shabbily he treats/ed them.

The question is whether or not those allegations are true, not whether "everything on the internet" is true.

Nice attempt at obfuscation.

But do you have any actual evidence that the allegations in the article are false?

Hmmm.  I haven't read that article in years.  But doesn't it say that he has had no contact with them?  That's not shabby, that's no contact.  Not all that uncommon amongst young divorced folk as their lives march on.  Sadly, I've known a few ppl like this.
Sorry shit like that went down in their lives.

New here. Was wondering if anyone could tell me who exactly Heather Wade is. As in, where did she come from? What credibility does she have? I mean, it seems as if she just came out of nowhere.

Could she be a plant, used to thwart Art's show? She appeared, wanted to be helpful, wanted to be involved. Did she actually move to Pahrump to produce the show?

So, she's totally submersed in his show and then Art falls apart and she takes over. Now she can steer the show in whatever direction she wants. Who's pulling her strings? Has this been planned from the start to kill Art's show?

She is the faithful minion of the the Laotian Criminal Syndicate Golden Dawn.  Run that back to 4chan, let's see what kind of legs it gets.

Oh.  Sorry, you are new here.   Keep your pistol loaded around this bunch.

Heather was a Bellgabber plucked from obscurity by The Claw* and placed in a rather unfortunate position. I'm still an Art Bell fan, but I'd question his integrity before I'd question Heather's.

yes sir good brother Barfly. I first heard Art on his first Sirius show. Bryan Alvarez was very giddy that Art was coming back and spoke about it on his other sports podcasts I listened to. In Art's six week on Sirius, I was sucked in just like everyone else did after first hearing him. When Art didn't come on one day I googled some stuff to try and find out if there were any "inside info" sites on Art. I learned about his "back" issues. Then a week or so later his show wasn't announced and I came to bellgab (since a good portion of callers referenced bellgab) to see what was up. When I saw he quit XM, I got teary eyed. For a solid week, every night at 7pm my heart sank knowing the show was gone.

Got roped back into this comeback. Same hills and valleys all over again. Wish I had that list of retirements (I posted a few pages back) and I could've been a little more prepared.

FWIW my stance on all this is Art being the Narcissist, he is either willing to change at 70 (ha) or eventually will get the overwhelming itch to have people admire him again. So either he'll try the "valiant hero takes the mic back" gimmick, or his FB page will come back soon enough.

And I'll listen, but knowing way ahead of time what to expect.

Actually, no....reality is reality. Perception is how abusive people try to spin things to make themselves feel important.

I kind of look at Art's track record as evidence of a man that wouldn't sell out. In the blood sport that is the radio industry, stability may actually equate to a lack of talent and a desperate need for approval. Case in point: George Noory.

Yeah....George Noory hosting the biggest paranormal radio show ever....lol....there's some reality for you, eh?

Philosopher

Without necessarily intending it, Art Bell has made the Unknown Shooter the most famous character in all of paranormal radio and beyond.  The Unknown Shooter has become forever rooted in legend, and a future source of untold numbers of stories and myths.  His existence is like the swirling, shifting, midnight sands of Pahrump, and only dire imagination can capture his writhing soul.  His face could be anyone's, and anywhere,  - his essence floating through the night, waiting for the littlest of stray thoughts to enliven his sackcloth body once more.

That's why radio is such a perfect fit for Art.

Maybe he has agoraphobia.

I think he needs to do radio in order to feed his soul, and he regrets having left already.

He regretted it hours if not minutes later - he called the show and was interviewing the guest along with (Redacted) that same night.

I suspect his family wants him there at night with them instead of out in the shed hosting a radio program, and I don't blame them.  I think that's why he quit Dark Matter and claimed he had a 2 year non-compete, promising his wife he'd stay home at night for a couple years until their daughter was a little older.

Art is impulsive, my guess is he rarely listens to anyone, trusts few people, and won't deal with anyone else.  Once he decides to do something, he holds onto that and doesn't consider alternatives.  The idea of hosting a new show 5 nights a week appealed to him, until the reality of doing it didn't.

When this all started up this time around, why couldn't he have said he was going to do a show once or twice a week?  He could have done what he claims he loves the rest of his life, and had plenty of fans to interact with.  He could still do that, but he needs to come out and say that's what he wants to do, and set a date to start, otherwise he won't have anything to come back to.
