I very rarely contributed to the posting on this site, however, be as it may, Art Bell MITD is gone. Its over. I've listened to Art since the mid 90's and enjoyed most of his shows. That being said, it didn't take a professional broadcaster to notice the lackluster direction MITD was taking. As the show progressed, I found myself switching to other podcasts that seem to up the ante a bit. I don't know or even care what caused AB to retire again, but its his decision and we are bound by it. There are several other podcast shows  ( not C2C ) that can fullfill the need for this type of show. It was fun while it lasted.
Care to share with the class of your "anti-upped" shows? I think there is a lot of people reading that might appreciate a pointer to alternative shows (non C2C) to fill the gap.  :)

I began giving up on Art way back in August, for the same reason I gave up on Coast a long time ago -- guests who are boring, boring, boring.  Today is not the same as today was 10, 15 or 20 years ago.  The country -- culturally, economically and politically -- is in a disastrous state of affairs.  Homelessness is out of the ballpark.  Unemployment is ridiculously high.  Obamacare is destroying the middle class, after quadrupling health care premiums. Religious expression is under severe attack.  Jobs are going to immigrants and illegal aliens.  Militant activists swapping society with alternative lifestyles (give us a break, you Bruce Jenners).  Governent is siding with terrorism.   And, this is big, doctors and Big Pharma are destroying our health, even killing us, in concert with corporations who have already destroyed our food supply.

The fact that Art hasn't had a single guest seriously discussing any of these issues, goes to show just how out of touch the man is.  Who should be surprised because, by his own admission, he's antisocial.

While every single media person out there has been clamoring to get, for example, a Donald Trump on their show, for ratings, Art has been content with aliens, time travel, Big Foot, and other matters that interest predominantly those who are challenged in the reality department.

When it comes to Noory, I have to give the man a lot of credit for taking personal control of his own health, not relying on doctors, hospitals, and even Madison Avenue for making his food choices.  Noory is roughly the same age as Art, but looks a full 20 years younger, in my opinion.  Why is that?  Because I believe Art is malnourished and has been for the last 15 or 20 years, a time frame that exactly corresponds with his flaky performance and behavior, never mind his chronic debilitating back pain.  Malnourishment also explains his personal issues, again, my opinion, which I posted about, yesterday.  Oh, and then there is his experimentation with Viagra, which he admitted to using.  If my spouse would ever disclose something so personal about my private life, I'd dump her ass in a split second.  Art must have zero empathy for the feelings of his wife. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if that single on-air disclosure about Viagra was the impetus for Art eventually quitting.   His wife wants him off the air before he spills all the family beans.  All my speculation, of course.

Anyway, I was once in worse shape, back-wise, than Art, however, after taking the nutritional bull by the horns, I resolved all of my back issues.  Six months or so ago I made a post that by the end of the year I would be doing double backflips.  Well, if I knew how, with practice, I could. That's how much I've improved.   I'm even back to running every day again.  All this because I wasn't stubborn enough to avoid eating from that one single food group.

If Art cleans up his diet, like Noory sure has, he'd be back to normal within a matter of months, maybe even kicking Noory's ass. That back pain of Art's will never be resolved by shining a light on his spine, any more than you can fix a roof leak by shining light on it, when in fact it needs new materials for repair.

The quicker Art takes his own nutritional bull by the horns, the sooner he can realize full health and vigor again, including motivation to be social again, in touch with the public again, and even have energy to do another show again.   In fact, that's what he's been trying to do all along these past ten years, but his diet has just been to nutritionally challenged for anything but a slow, eventual decline, which decline is totally reversible because the body is an incredible design, fully capable of functioning well over 100 years, so long as it has the nutritional building blocks to thrive.

You could have summed this up with one word: Turmeric.

Quote from: SixWeekTenure(tm) on December 12, 2015, 10:03:32 AMIt wasn't the bad guest last night or an inexperienced host, the misstep was not dedicating the full show to talking about Art's announcement which was on everyone's mind. Anyone with a sense of audience would know a sorry mobile connection and Art calling in after the awkward stretch for time before the break was the opportunity to switch it up, yet TimeHick was with us until the third hour.
It's not what we wanted to hear, and yet I think it was the right decision if there was to be any long-run hope for the show.  If you make it all about Art's leaving, then that distracts from the possibility, however remote, of Heather's becoming the new recognized voice of MITD.

I'm certain Art Bell will be touched by your diagnosis of his medical ills. Oh and the entire medical profession equally touched at your trashing of their several years of med school, clerkships, many many hours in hospitals, and numerous exams. Hey, all that could be a thing of the past if only they read this thread.

My tastes in alternative radio may not be the same as yours, however, I could always find something interesing to listen to nightly between CTM and JCR, the latter being able to drop the 1st half hour of the show by fast-forwarding the introduction.

No one other than Art will be recognized as the voice of MITD and that's just a fact. Not discussing the announcement at length was a mistake and an elephant in the room while a cutesy, hackneyed attempt at an interview with a dope claiming to be from the future went on instead. We couldn't have one night to digest this properly with an all open lines show for the healing process to begin over the weekend and then let (Redacted) have her solo, interview-driven attempt occur on Monday? They bungled this entire roll out.

Quote from: IcicleTrepan on December 12, 2015, 10:07:40 AMI could tell she was very nervous at the beginning but as it went on she was improving.
Yes, that was evident, and a good sign; if she could get that much better that fast, who knows how good she'll be next time?
QuoteIt was unfortunate that her first night the guest had technical problems but she handled it well and I imagine not much worse could happen during a show.  The important thing was there was no dead air.
Yes, but filling with looped music isn't much better.  If she'd been prepared, she'd've had fallback material.  However, nobody should expect her to become prepared in the short time she had.

I've been put in position like that as an assistant football coach of children by a head coach who wanted to make me look bad.  He'd thrust a job at me to do then & there on game day w no warning.  Then it's like, you want responsibility, here's some!  Sure, but you know in advance what you want to do & can prepare, while you put me in charge of something I'd no idea of doing.  I'm not saying Art's motiv'n was similar, but we can't expect the best results when it's an emergency replacement.

Donald Noory

Remember a week or so ago Art started the show off by sort of pleading, in a humorous way, for more subscribers, saying that his daughter can't get a new lunch box or something because he didn't have enough subscribers? Wonder why he would do that in the middle of all this alleged shooting going on, since he was probably considering packing it in after the alleged incidents started happening. Maybe he wasn't getting the number of subscribers he wanted, and that contributed to him leaving also.

Okay; fire all the medics in the world and see what happens.

Get back to us..Oh, and I hope you don't have children and deny your offspring medical care and pursue your philosophy that doctors are out to kill their patients. I used to be married to one and she saved more lives over her career than you could count to.
