Cannot pull up his show this morning, everything is coming up blank. I called the Parumph pd, and spoke with disp. Barbara. She says Art and family are ok, and she can't comment from there. She says it was a false alarm. So why is his show not coming up. Why is he off the air. Deputy Parra will be in at 6pm their time, and he is supposed to call me. Sheriffs #775-751-7000

Given that Art's site went down at around 6am Thursday morning, I got a cached version of the page from Google of the hrs old story that had been posted at ArtBell.com  sometime around 3am, and will paste it in below. So this was the official public release from Art Bell Inc just prior to his site's "downage" (503)

Gun Shots Fired At Art’s Studio During LIVE Broadcast

During Art’s live broadcast of the “Midnight in the Desert” radio program tonight, gun shots rang out in his neighborhood. Police were called to the scene and it was determined that  a subject had driven into Art’s neighborhood and fired shots near or at Art’s studio.

As heard on the broadcast of Wednesday’s night show, Art had interrupted his guest and started playing music while he went out to investigate the situation. He returned to the air and completed the interview on his program. After the show, Art was able to investigate the situation further.

The incident is still under investigation. Art posted on his Facebook page:

Ok, the police just left for the second time and the girls are asleep, so here is what I can tell you, about 10:33 PT I got a text from my close neighbor saying he had heard 4 or 5 fast shots that seemed near my studio, he thought they were from the street behind the house but did not see anything, then a moment later another neighbor lady texted me that she heard the shots and saw a car in the dead end lane in front of my studio fire 4 or 5 rifle shots at or near the house and take off in a mid size car. We will check for bullet holes in the daylight. The girls turned off all lights and hugged the floor. We are all OK but a bit freaked out. We have video cameras, but not recorded, that will change. Sorry for the scare but it was worse on this end.

We will post any additional information as we receive it and will keep you informed.

I just got in too.....it took a bit for the page to load, I just had to be patient, and the show is playing steadily so far.

I'm just glad that Art and family are okay.

Hopefully, the police get the shooter(s), and that it turns out that they were not really aiming at Art's place. The alternative is too disturbing.

Could be.  I dunno.  Right now, without any additional info, I'm going with a random act.

I doubt they would find casings if the shooter was in a car.  Maybe if the shooter left the car to fire but unless the shooter is a moron they would pick up their empties.  Bullets are what I was thinking.  Yeah, it's probably best if the police recovered them if they are there.

Maybe, maybe not.  When the empty is extracted it generally flips out and away fm the shooter.  Unless the shooter is left handed, then a brass catcher or deflector is needed to avoid hot brass to the face or down the shirt.  Both of which generally screws with a shooters aim.

I think some might assume that the shooter was also the driver and that the brass would bounce around on the dash down onto the floorboard.  Again, depending on the weapon used and it's unique characteristics, the height of the driver/shooter while seated, the angle the shooter was shooting fm, fm the drivers seat out drivers window, fm the drivers seat through passenger window, how much of the weapon was extended out the windo....the brass could bounce off the steering wheel and out onto the ground.....
a lot of variables.
If it was a pair of assholes rather than a 'Lone Gunman,' the shooter would probably be the passenger.  Different variables but.....

Both artbell.com and dick's site come up immediately but are just blank pages with no error message. DMDN came up for me once but the second time I tried to load it came up with a server error message.

Methinks premrats are seriously in the thick of this whole deal as there are NO coinshidenshes.

If I were Art I would take a week or two off, do whatever was needed to secure the area/building/family, and then come back to do the show. What I WOULD NOT DO is quit because that basically be surrendering to whatever jackass decided to pull this stunt.

It's interesting that this happens now when they're starting to add affiliates.

I hope that Pahrump PD/ Nye County Sheriffs find this nutter and put him away in a deep dark hole.
