This may have been mentioned before, With all the radio stations broadcasting the show, this means we can also use I heart radio app to listen to the live show as well. Just pic a station that Art has in his list anywhere in the country and listen.

I'm really hoping this happens.  Poetic justice at its finest.

You skip bell gab for a few days and there are fifty pages to comb through and you miss a few fights. Is it July yet?

Morgus

Right now live on the Dark Matter Stream is a special After Dark After Show with  Bryan and Keith Rowland chatting about the latest with  Art Bell and the studio hardware improvements and ongoing testing.

Thanks, Morgus! I've wanted to hear them!

Morgus

Keith just tested live Art's new 7second delay feature.
Keith told about the new website he has almost finished that will replace the current Dark Matter Radio webpage but will add subscription capabilities.

Zenman

Lol, good demo, Keith.

Zenman

That was good, thanks Morgus. Interesting stuff.

Do you have ANY GOOD memories of that occupation?

oh sure.  first, i met plenty of interesting people along the way.  you'll find many walks of life driving trucks.  yeah, lots of them are lifetime drivers who don't know how to talk about anything other than truck driving, but others are former school principals or retired medical professionals.  there were a few times i'd meet someone cool at a company terminal or a truck stop, and we'd both be headed to the same destination so we'd just talk about bullcrap on the CB for hundreds of miles (i never turned the CB on otherwise).

second, i can say i've been to all of the lower 48 states with the exception of rhode island.  i've been to every major US city.  i've taken a truck into canada twice (which was a horrible experience the first time thanks to US customs).  i've seen lots of historic/noteworthy locations that many people never get to see.  among my favorites were meteor crater, AZ and dealey plaza.

i spent a whole day in dallas looking at all of the famous places associated with the kennedy assassination.  the tour guy somehow got me in to the texas theater where i walked right past some renovation crews on my way to the still original seat oswald was plucked from by the dallas police.  it was covered in dust and debris, but that didn't stop me from taking a load off.  i also trespassed into the back yard of the dallas home where this photo was taken:

i stood in the same spot while the tour guy snapped my photo.  as i posed for the picture, three or four little hispanic children were apprehensively peering out at us through the crud covered window of the same screen door you see to the left of oswald there.  i guess we probably looked like lunatics to them, in retrospect.  it turns out, my picture looks oddly similar to the one you see above, only it's in color and, well, not oswald.  it's me.

it's more of a skill than a memory, but thanks to trucking, i'm now amazing with an atlas.  if you asked me to plot a trip for you from miami to chicago, i could do so with precision.  with my atlas reading skills at your disposal, you'd have in your hands a simple piece of paper telling you exactly what highways to take, what exit numbers those highways would be at, and exactly how many miles you're going to drive between each exit.  my system was so good that you wouldn't need to look at the atlas for the entire trip after i handed you that paper.  many of the drivers my age were using garmin GPS units because they didn't want to learn how to read a map.  problem was, there weren't any GPS systems that were specifically designed for trucking at that time.    they were all meant for cars, which could easily get you into trouble.  you can't just merrily drive an 80,000 pound semi with a 53 foot trailer down any road you like (as i learned the hard way in a couple instances).  you have to follow legal routes.  these days you'd just install a trucker GPS app on your phone and be done with it.  unfortunately, this was well before phones became what they now are (i sound old).  my point is, i now know how to read a map thanks to trucking.  and that's a good thing.  i think.  i guess?

there are other good memories or good "things" i've taken from trucking.  i could talk for probably two hours non stop about this crap.  accident scenes/deaths i saw, scary moments i had, blah blah... that job made lots of lasting impressions in a short period of time.

*REPORTED*  OFF TOPIC!  Belongs in "Truck Stop Stories" thread  8)

actually, other than repeated propositions by prostitutes, not much happened at truck stops.  and by the way... being a prostitute is bad enough, but when you're a prostitute at a fucking truck stop?  you've made some bad decisions in your life.

Speaking of Studio, WOW, Keith and me just got done with a big test after we got the talk back working as it should, Keith put a message on Twitter and we took calls from all over and I must tell you it is awesome! The sound you all will get is going to put anything I have ever worked with to shame.

The Telos gear is simply amazing!

This is Top Secret, but when the Samoan Studio is complete, there will be a special "on the lawn" screening of that 1972 gem, The Brady Bunch episode :  Hawaii Bound.

Surviving cast members will attend the ribbon cutting ceremony.

heh heh.  seems reasonable.

Well, assuming Redacted isn't relocating to Pahrump, how is this going to be prevented when her and Art do a show together?

it's been agreed redacted will be severely punished if she steps on art.

Might have to turn my BellGab card in for saying this, but I'm not really a listener to the other UFOship shows.  Was going by GabCast and other Skype-style cohosting podcasts I've heard.  Hopefully all does go smoothly, and best of luck.

Thank you for sharing. That was a great post. I love getting a peek behind the curtain of another life. Compared to many of the desk jobs I have held that seems exciting. I have done a little open road driving and only between L.A. and San Fran in the mid 90s and that is where I was introduced to Art Bell. Well not in person but over the airwaves.

I'd like to hear the morbid R rated stories perhaps in another thread.

This SIT episode is in the mega torrent however the show in the mega torrent is obviously a poorer taped copy and is only 2 hours. Once the Coast promos are removed from the SIT episode it will be 2 hours 36 mins so we get over 30 minutes of new classic Art.

Bring on July for new new Art.

Awww  :(  I guess I was lucky, We had great local bands on the weekends, great food most of the time, and lots of nice folks.  There were a few known Lot Lizzards, but I only ever saw one or two..... they were usually hiding under the rocks. Rumor had it they made a LOT more money than I did.  :(
