Art Bell

That's the nature of the beast when it comes to these sorts of programs: be vague enough that you're proven right eventually and if you're wrong, who would remember anyway? Art would always say that we're on the verge of something big and Noory's shtick is just a continuance of that attitude with more health related garbage mixed in. Just take it all with a grain of salt and enjoy the ride.

Think we are scared now? Could you imagine if someone got a prediction or two right?

George's "war" comment was certainly poorly timed. But if PremRat was found out to be hacking this site, there would likely be people fired over there. Having missed the GabCast and not knowing the details beyond it being "international," I can't be among those to point the finger at George or that company.

BellGab makes fun of a lot of people (some who have very thin skin) so there could be quite a few folks that got pissed off. I wonder if this has anything to do with the "people who send me unnecessarily rude emails" thread.

It certainly made for an interesting Sunday morning. (Especially when some guy started calling The General a "davebot" in the comments of an Art Bell facebook post. Like, really?)

I'm not sticking up for Noory here... I agree with you that he's been saying that for years, but Art has had just as many guests on in the years that were hyping wars, or killshots, or Y2K...  You know what I mean? I wish they would both be more careful. They scare a lot of people out there. ...including me sometimes.

Scary? I get scared watching the evening news. A surprise alien invasion might be nice for a change.   ::)

I am the KING of late night radio. Long live the new KING!!! I deserve the crown.

Well, okay George, giving you the benefit of the doubt. I suppose that you might see yourself as a royal-in-waiting, or perhaps even a prince of Talk Radio.

A case may even be made to say that you are the successor to the true "King" by default. You assumed the throne because Art Bell, who truly was the "King" of overnight talk radio shows; abdicated his throne. Premiere has caused you to believe, and live that "Kingship" falacy. Premiere Radio advertises you on their home page as the one who made Coast the juggernaut that it was. Art Bell gave you and Premiere a show that was second to none. Art Bell should be acknowlged as the one who created and made "Coast to Coast AM an overnight talk radio show with daytime ratings". But as I said, they are affecting your percepton.

Coast to Coast AM with George Noory

A media phenomenon, Coast to Coast AM deals with UFO's, strange occurrences, life after death, and other unexplained (and often unexplicable) phenomena. Coast to Coast AM is overnight talk radio with daytime ratings.

Once again, even giving you the benefit of the doubt, the numbers just don't bear you out. You cannot possibly think that you are "King of the Hill" when Talkers magazine has you as number 14 on their 100 Heavy Hitters list. Sure you can say that you and your show did better then 86 other shows. But the reality remains...you can't be "King" in 14th place. Talkers magazine's weekly numbers show that your audience share puts you in 6th place along with 5 other shows. George surely you realize that you just can't be "King" when your audience share places you in 6th place with 5 other shows. Then there are 5 more shows beating your numbers and the 5 others you are in 6th place with.

Not to add insult to injury, but in the Wikipedia List of the most listened to, and Popular radio programs in the United States you appear in 14th place out of the 17 shows that they are tracking and publishing information about world wide.

George, need I say the obvious....you just can't be "King" when you're in 14th place.

Hereto, I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. I was thinking that you meant gearing up for a ratings war. A war over podcast audience share, or something along those lines. But then you followed  up with:

This just makes no sense George, because we have been in a combat in the Middle East since Bush 1. Maybe I missed something, but didn't Saudi Arabia put together their own coalition to deal with the Yemen / ISIS threat?

As I perused  the web I found this interesting advert. So, I figured I'd put it out there...what the heck...What say we pool are resources and buy these three support stations for Art. One's A.M. and the other two are F.M. We can get all three for a nominal $2.6 mil+/-. So essentially, Art will be broadcasting on the airwaves and in cyber space. It could be the beginning of something or other...

.....................just a thought........................

KS3484 brings up a good point.  Station owners last year dumped a lot of high priced talent (Limbaugh, Hannity, etc), which led to an overall reduction in stations carrying the Big Shows.  The austerity measures will continue has listenership drop over time, and it is dropping fast! Only the business model Art and Keith are putting together will work going forward.  Since they are one of the first of the Big Shows to do it, who knows where it will take them.

George is going to say that he is king of 'late night' talk. Not much competition. Probably less than handfull of nationwide late night talk shows.

Wait. What's that on the horizon? Could it be? Yes! Art Bell is returning!

As Art has said there is room enough for both shows. The only problem I can see is Coast poaching guests. Bateman is playing it smart. I heard him say that he is not announcing future guests as to avoid other shows from poaching. Smart move. Maybe Art will have to do the same thing. Maybe annouce the guest the day before or earlier in the same day.

That is very true! Also, a good opportunity to find new guests! There has to be more out there! Also, expand the subject matter a little!

Yeah, there was far too much rehash on Dark Matter and some of the new stuff didn't work like the Ghostbuster Gals or Jeremy Meador while a highly anticipated interview with Timothy Good fell flat.

He can fallback on something like that if wants, but then how would he justify Premiere Radio touting him and his show as being ..."Coast to Coast AM is overnight talk radio with daytime ratings." He has to compete with daytime talk radio and overnight talk radio....at least that's what Art did. I couldn't believe it when Art didn't get the Marconi award. He made Coast legendary. And that's not to say that he couldn't do the same thing with MITD.

The other aspect I don't see mentioned that must is Art's voice.  He has great projection and depth.  I think he and Stern have that in common, and may be the two best radio voices around.  Dave simply does not have that attribute/gift, and his high pitch makes him sound too young for intellectual/speculative talk radio.

It's good to be back. Is it July yet?

I believe Art attributed his voice on the air to his head phones with a mic built in. If you get the chance you should try and find one of the shows he did at  KDWN in Vegas. That would have been pre 1994. It sounds pretty bad.

FEATURED KEYNOTE SPEAKER ART BELL

The master of UFOs, fringe science and conspiracy theory ART BELL is back!

His radio show midnight in the desert will begin July 2015

Art was the co-creator of the hugely successful "Coast to Coast AM" retired from his full-time role of master of the macabre in 2003, after 15 years. Over that span, he went from mainstream talk to a highly successful foray into unexplained phenomena, turning the syndicated juggernaut into the most listened to overnight show in North America. In 1996 Bell appeared in an episode of the NBC science fiction series Dark Skies as William S. Paley, head of CBS. On September 30, 1998 NBC's Today Show aired a taped segment of reporter Fred Francis interviewing Bell. Francis questioned Bell about Hale-Bopp, Area-51, eccentric callers claiming to be "six-fingered alien hybrids" as well as the UFO sighting experienced by Bell and his wife Ramona. The segment also featured members of Bell's audience reacting to topics being discussed.  In 1999 Bell appeared as himself on the series Millennium. The episode called "Collateral Damage" aired in the third season and dealt with a former U.S. soldier who claimed the government he fought for was indeed responsible for horrendous tests on soldiers and Iraqi civilians. (This episode was broadcast on January 22, 1999. The Washington Post, 1-22-99.)

In 1999 Bell was interviewed on Larry King Live. (This was broadcast on March 5, 1999. The Washington Post, 3-5-99.) Progressive rock band Tool's 2001 album, Lateralus, featured a track entitled "Faaip de Oiad" (Enochian for "The Voice of God"), which includes a clip of the "distraught and terrified" Area 51 employee call from September 11, 1997. In 2005 Bell and then-wife Ramona were featured on the ABC news special: Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs - Seeing Is Believing, which reported on the entire scope of the UFO experience, from the first famous sighting by Kenneth Arnold in 1947 to the present day. (This was broadcast on February 24, 2005. The Washington Post, 2-20-05.) In 2005 snippets of Bell and callers to his show were featured on the song "Conspiracy Radio" on Sean Hogan's album "Catalina Sunrise": Bell is credited for "voice overs" on this track. In 2006 Bell was featured in the video game Prey and played him. He hosts, as in real life, Coast to Coast AM, and the player is able to listen to the broadcast at several terminals throughout the game. The broadcasts describe what is happening on Earth as the game unfolds. The game plot centers on a massive space ship and alien abductions. Bell receives a number of calls about people who have seen smaller craft as they abduct people. The protagonist is one of these people and listens to the radio while on the space ship. In 2007, Bell appeared as himself in the movie I Know Who Killed Me.

Bell has written, or co-written, several books. They include The Quickening: Today's Trends, Tomorrow's World; The Art of Talk (an autobiography); The Source: Journey through the Unexplained; The Edge: Man's Mysterious Past & Incredible Future; and The Coming Global Super storm (co-authored with Whitley Strieber), which became the basis for the popular movie, The Day After Tomorrow.

I wonder if Richard Hoagland was able to tell Art about the Orion mission boarding passes that NASA was giving out? If not, anyone can sign up for boarding passes for future missions, and NASA will announce the what and when. It's also on a first come first to fly (figuratively speaking) basis. There's a chip that they put all of the chosen names on, and sends it up with craft.

Orrrrr, they're sending our names up to an EBE mothership in order to make good on a secret pact made with them in the past. Sure it sounds innocent enough until the people whose names are sent up start disappearing and being abducted.... :o

What?

He said that the new gear gave his voice a wider or deeper spectrum over the air. He had explain it when he would have callers say "jeeezzz you sound different then you do on my radio". And he would have to explain that their phones were at a different frequency or modulation and wasn't picking up the full spectrum or frequency of his voice spectrum. It was something to that effect.

Don't forget to ask him about it.
